He saw the other kids because they were high up on the stage, the other little girl in the pink tutu was lower to the ground, and the mascot head physically can't look down. I genuinely believe he didn't see her. I've made the same mistake in the Easter bunny costume at the mall. If a kid's standing directly under me like that, I simply can't see them. Told the mothers that if they kicked out the black fathers( who couldn't find work because they were black ) and they'd receive benefits and housing. Now young black men who were raised without a father think black women don't need them because their mothers made it without their father's. It's a vicious cycle that trickled into creating ghettos and poor education opportunities in part because the ghetto doesn't pay property taxes so no funding goes into the schools. This was all on purpose to oppress them. If they want change then it has to start with the nuclear family staying together. Fathers need to raise their children and stop letting the government do it. It must be nice to think that way. You have no idea what it is like to be black. In college I had someone come up to me and ask what sport I played. Pretty sure she thought because I’m black I must be on a sport scholarship. I didn’t know her. She was just sitting next to me at the UC. This was in 2000. And no, I did not play sports and I was a size 2. Not athletically built, not holding a basketball. So yes, it must be nice to not think about race playing a role in how you are treated.

I sympathize with the mother but I have been in these costumes before and it’s very very hard to see outside of these constumes. On top of being super hot on the inside the costume usually requires a guide because the design is intentionally made to make sure you can not see the person on the inside meaning the eyes are usually blocked or difficult to see through. Which is why they require a guide or mediator close by. I’m all for black solidarity and empathizing but I think there’s a perspective that’s just not fully being honored here or reviewed. Much love and power to that mom though.
