I don’t like Violet but I love that the writer included this story line. What she went through as a child was traumatic and she has every right to cope with that however she can. As audience members, we only see the sober Christie and the rare glimpses of addict Christie which are played up for comedic effect. We don’t see the reality of what that lifestyle truly is.

The weird thing about this is that Violet idolizes Bonnie so much. When the series started, she saw her make all sorts of stupid decisions, too It's weird to label her as the life preverser when she does have a level of blame in the family's situation too

Violet suffered through Christy. She was Christy’s responsibility, not Bonnie’s. Kids rely the most on their caregivers (e.g., Violet relying on her mother, Christy). Christy failed at that, so Violet understandably hates her.

Violet wasn’t exactly a perfect angel either!! she got pregnant at 17 and placed it for open adoption.. how many times did we ever hear about Violet’s child since then , once. Violet has also gotten drunk, done drugs , cheated on luke and dated a professor. She has pretty much done everything that her mother has done. Yet , Violet has the nerve to blame her mother for everything that’s wrong with her life. Part of growing up is to stop blaming your parents for the choices you made.

Violet was a horrible character. Its not just about her relationship with her mom. She treated everyone like trash even though people loved her. Luke did, and Gary did. And Christy does too of course. She cheated on Luke, cheated on Gary, manipulated the men in her life and was absolutely cruel to Christy. And I NEVER understood her love for Bonnie who had never been around and who also screwed up tons of time after she entered their lives. Violet only shows affection for Bonnie to spite Christy.

I get it, violet had to endure a terrible childhood with no real mother but at some point she has to take some responsibility for herself. First of all, during christy sober phase she was actually there for violet: living together, supporting her even tho she was clearly not keen of violets weird choices (professor or cheating on luke) or paying for the wedding dress. Violet constantly praises bonnie and criticizes christy for not forgiving her (even tho its the same situation) and rather takes the side of her abusive father who she didnt even met (even bonnie said he was a terrible person) by saying " im sure he has a side too". She has the full right to talk about her childhood in a podcast, but she def stepped over a line when she showed the voicemail christy gave her after finding out about the podcast. It was violets idea of doing a break between their mother-daughter relationship after christy already got sober. Im not defending christys past or the off screen child neglect violet had to endure, but at some point there is a difference between " i dont want anything to do with my mother" and " let me embarrass her in front of thousands of people even tho I know she working on getting better"

My fiancé and I always skip this episode because we both hate Violet but I can go a little easier on her. Now I don’t hate for making the podcast, or cutting Christy off but I do hate her for other reasons. She treats people in her life like absolute trash, examples, she cheats on Luke, she doesn’t tell Greg about her baby, she wants to be with Greg for his money (that relationship was uncomfortable but that’s a different subject) she sleeps with her roommates boyfriend and calls her roommate a bitch, she only wants to get back together with Luke when she finds out she has been making good money. She gave up her baby to make something of her life but she just gets drunk and high. I also didn’t mad at Christy for assuming Luke paid for her apartment because last time she saw Violet she was getting back together with Luke because he had money. They had gone a whole year without talking so how was Christy supposed to know they weren’t together. I also didn’t like when she got mad at her mom for telling about the baby because I would have thought Violet told Greg about her baby.

Violet is rubbish as a human being, she gave away her own baby, dropped out of college, stayed with Greg out of interest, got back together with Luke out of convenience and interest again, then created a podcast to defame her own mother, and the most absurd detail is that she's already a fucking adult, that she doesn't act like one, as if that weren't enough, Christy will still apologize (without a reason) and she treats her with all that coldness and treats Bonnie like a hero, being that she was an absent mother to Christy and an absent grandmother to Violet, what is the logic in that? This girl really is disgusting and it's a shame that Chuck ruined some episodes of the series with her disgusting performance, if the intention was to awaken emotions of anger and disgust, oh he did it and with great mastery!

I agree with most of your points, but I don’t blame Violet for not telling Gregory about the baby. It was probably still a sensitive subject for her and it’s not like it was his baby. People are allowed to keep some personal experiences to themselves. As for the apartment, she may have been ticked off by Christy showing up in the first place because Violet clearly didn’t want her there or even knowing where she lives.

I feel like the writers messed up here, personally. I do think it's unfair for Violet to act like this to Christy, knowing what she (at this point) knew about Christy's abusive relationship, her relationship with Bonnie, and tons and tons of other stuff. Like I understand Violet's reasoning, I just wish the writers didn't do it, because it feels unearned, considering we all have seen Christy's journey to get to this point.

I wonder how many parents have children just like Violet. Children don't come with instruction manuals and even if they did, there would be no manual to cover every type of child possible. Christy was never a good mother to her kids, she never took responsibility of all the ways she let her kids down, especially Violet. Violet has every right to say she doesn't want a relationship with her bc she has never been supportive, always criticizing her choices and put everybody else in front of her own kids. Blaming your own mother for your mistakes is just pathetic, if she had just admitted that her bad choices were by her own doing then maybe the outcome of her relationship with her kids could've been different

Yeah, but she tried to take responsibility and make up for it. She showed them that she’s changing and actually trying for them. Violet has stuck around for a while and she was beginning to appreciate her mother’s efforts. Nevertheless, whenever Violet did something similar to what Christy did in the past, Violet would always blame her mother and not take responsibility for her actions. I’m not saying that she has no right to cut her out of her life, but I think if she tried to give her a chance, she and her mother both turn out better. She just trashed her in every way like she trashes everyone. She didn’t even go to college like she planned when she gave up her baby. So, Violet is no angel either.

Violet is a failure who will blame everything she did and will do wrong on her mother, she looks like a child throwing a tantrum, she never grew up or matured, not taking responsibility for her own actions and not being able to forgive was a big sign of that . Disdaining your own mother when she tries at all costs to win you back is cruel, it basically makes you an emotionless monster. An example of this is that Bonnie made a lot more mistakes with Christy and yet they reconciled, why doesn't it work out with Violet then? Because she is a person who prefers to escape her emotional responsibility, she only accepts having in her life everyone who doesn't disagree with her, the spoiled girl. Seriously, I love the series but this girl disgusts me.

Christy was a terrible mother and a hypocrite. She spent more time with her bottles than with her children. Bonnie was abandoned first as a child and then by Alvin and had no other choice to raise Christy on her own. She may not have been the best mom either but she tried her best. Christy should have learned from all that but instead she chose the same wrong life. She put Violet and Roscoe through the exact same situation that she had even though she hated it.
