Alanda, your intro message means so much to me. People are acting like everything's ok and going about their lives like normal, and it makes me feel like maybe I'm overreacting or crazy. I'm a Mexican trans, gay, disabled, cancer survivor, and Medicaid receiver in my late 20s. I haven't faced any issues so far, but I have periodic panic attacks. My medical team checks in on me at every appointment, and people like you tell me everything's going to be ok. I don't know how bad things are going to get, but I appreciate you caring about all of us.

I love her intro, too. Alanda always makes me smile, even when I’m having a rough time. Thank you for showing your humanity and for being vulnerable. I’m sorry things are so unstable and scary right now, but I’m proud of you for continuing on and keeping up with your health. It’s hard not to feel hopeless at times, but doing what you can is enough. There is still goodness in the world! I wish things weren’t so tense, but people being real, like you, helps me feel less alone. So thank you! From one disabled queer to another, keep going. You deserve goodness and love ❤

Now THIS is how you do a movie prequel! I’ve seen a lot of crappy ones. They seemed to build a whole backstory for Esther out of a couple lines of Orphan1 dialogue. It’s amazing they used the same actress too. She was great in the first one, and still good as ever. There’s a time limit on making this- they really went for it.
@JayPadrig7 күн бұрын
I saw this in the theater, and thought that was the biggest plot twist, how the mom and son knew she wasn’t the real daughter all along. That kind of set it apart from the first one instead of a boring REPEAT. “Some Psycho Dwarf” is the best line 😂 the drama is real

I remember when this movie was first announced I rolled my eyes so hard bc it was like why. The actor who plays Esther is already an adult woman, we know the twist, and we know her backstory this is very unnecessary. Then when the twist happened it completely changed how I saw this movie and I loved it. The way this movie makes us root for Esther to beat the evil mother was sm fun to watch. Like that twist absolutely gagged me and the practical work they had to do to make the actor for Esther younger by having them use ramps and platformed boots was so well done. I’m honestly excited for orphan 3 and curious at the direction it will take.

This is absolutely based on a real live case, that was also used for an episode of Law and Order SVU (with the gender swap again and with the "Esther" being more sympathetic). Frédéric Bourdin is a real grown man who impersonated tons of children over the years and there's a documentary called The Imposter that talks about when he impersonated Nicholas Barclay, a missing American child that hadn't been found in years. He looked nothing like the kid, not even the same eye color. But when the cops finally figure it out and incarcerate Frédéric, he tells the authorities he was tipped off by one family member who saw through his act that the Nicholas was likely murdered by Nicholas brother Jason Barclay and they all kept it secret. The best part is the real life scene of Julia showing Esther the pictures. In the documentary they show a reenactment of the real life incident where the family showed Frédéric photos from an album, with the mom (or sister I think) describing every person in detail, and you the viewer realize later on that it was to secretly coach Frédéric without either of the cops or even Frédéric knowing. They wanted to accept Frédéric even though they knew he was a scammer because they didn't want anyone to dig into where the missing boy really was. Course this is all alleged. But the documentary while acknowledging how manipulative Frédéric is, leans heavily at justifying Frédéric's accusation. Nicholas Barclay was never found. Frédéric Bourdin is oddly terrifying in how creepy he is, I really recommend the documentary, I think i found it on netflix.
