As a Chinese, I have to speak. In China, especially the urban city like Beijing or Shanghai, the rate of getting in a great university is like pick 3k in 8 or 9m every year. So the "famous" high schools put iron fence of every hall of the building just in case the student would jump off. But still, tons of students decided to end their life every year. There is even a shit list called "school ranking" in China, the top 3 or 5 of them are the best school with highest Enrollment rate. I was in one when I was in middle school, get up at 6am and get off at 9pm, sometimes 11pm depends on if there's a overtime study project. Everyone in the whole world saying Chinese kids are so smart, we can do advanced mathematics and all that stuff when we were still in middle school. But the price is I lose half of my hair when I was 14. And I remember there were 6 people ended their life in just 6 months in my school. Too many population, way less chance to be "succeed"

If you look at the video closely, you will realize that all those who tried to stop the mother were 'elderly' people, people who were once a child and have been a parent for a long time. seeing so many people stand up for the girl really warms my heart im not really one to write sob stories, but i kind of relate to it. back when I was in elementary school and middle school, I did ice skating as a sport. i wasn’t the best at it, but i was pretty good considering my age. i started when I was 5 and my grandma would always drive me there whenever I had to practice which was every day after school. i appreciated her always driving me back and forth, but one thing that she always did was criticize me. she would always watch me practice and at the end of the session, she would complain about how i wasn’t making any progress and how other kids were making progress while I was just getting worse. she would complain how I was slow and how I was so lazy and how I looked like an elephant on the ice. she would constantly find something to say about me, even not related to ice skating. pretty much everything, from how I look, to how I’m doing in school, to how i was always last. every time she would scold me, I always tried to hold in the tears. honestly, she criticized me and scolded me so much, it was normal at that point. i didn’t tell anyone cause I thought, “oh every parent must be like this”. looking back on it now, i wished I had told someone. i mean at least my parents. well if you read this far, thanks?

I hope you're okay now. Don't let your granny's comments weighing you down, I'm sure that you're skillfull and will do great and beautiful things in the future. Great video, I can totally relate :( I had a dad like that, he was a teacher. He had always treated me this way although I passed all my secondary school years with an A grade and was always considered excellent. But I could not take it anymore in high school, especially with the physical abuse. So I passed those years with C and D grades because I unfortunately developed serious symptoms of: ADD, social anxiety, and other issues (mental and physical). I was in a really bad place bcz of that but thankfully I decided to create a new personality for myself once I got into college. It took me 3 or 4 years to find who I am and what I can do, and to realize that grades are just one among many indicators of people's abilities. Now, I'm in my final year (MA in English and Culture) with a great amount of side experiences (teaching montage and photography, organizing events..etc), plus teachers consider me excellent although I'm a B student and I'm pretty happy with all of that. Whoever is going through this: *well, the video up here says it all*

I used to be late for school, so I was going to ask my father to call the teacher to faking a excuse, ofc he refused. I deliberately put on shoes slowly to delay the time and see if I can delay it until late enough so that I cant go to school. My dad saw through my trick and made me walk barefoot to school in winter. On the road, a taxi driver stopped to blame my dad and took me to school without letting my dad get on the car 😂He said he would call the police

I'm lucky that even though I have failed in school, they don't scold me and shout at me.
