My dad played and sang this song for me since I was 5 years old. I love this song and it's morals and respect for women.

I never knew, until now, who sang this song... I only remember my grandfather singing it when he would be a little in his cups. Thanks for posting it.

I have an original 78 rpm from 1927 that belonged to my mother. I used to play it on the wind up Victrola as a kid in the 40's. I am 75 now. I have it sealed in a "shadow box" with glass hanging in my home along beside an old 1917 Victrola I bought about 25 years ago. As far as I know everything was working win I had it sealed. I love them both. Thanks !!.

Thank you Igor. Very nice of you to comment. I don't think I would sell it for any amount.

An old-fashioned, corny song---but its heart cannot be challenged. If only our values today were so simple...

What sort of blackmail is this that a strange man would force a lady to wed him with only the promise of taking her to her brother. There is no guarantee that he even knows her brother. Deliver up the brother first and then woo her properly with her brothers consent.
