Thanks so much for making this video it helped me find out what a chipset is and If I bought the right motherboard
@bengam34 жыл бұрын
That is good, but just note that you shouldn't just go for a motherboard just because it matched your CPU's chipset. Many motherboards have much more going for them, and you want to make sure your taking ad M vantage if those features, as well as getting your money's worth.

Great video. As a suggestion though, I would've appreciated if you put timestamps. As soon as you started going into too much details at the beginning, I wanted to jump to the "sockets and ports" portion of the video xD It also helps when coming back to this video to "revise" the info. I mean, I'm just nitpicking, but I'd also liked if you'd pointed to stuff on the motherboard and went like "this is X, Y, Z...".

Hello: I don't know if you can help me. I have an Intel DZ68BC that stopped working overnight. When checking it I opted to change my Corsair HX850 power supply because the fan would spin for 2 seconds and stop. I bought another new Corsair RM750 and the problem remained the same. I also noticed that the skull does not turn on the lights and the number on it indicates is 58. The monitor and the two cdrooms stopped working. It is also impossible to access the Bios because the computer turns on for 2 seconds and turns itself off. I cleaned the processor (i7 -2600K-LGA 1155) and changed the paste, I cleaned the memories (4x4GB) and the fans and everything remains the same. Can you help me with the solution or tell me what I can do or check, or is it that the motherboard has already died and I must replace it, if so, do you know any other similar that you can recommend? Your help will be very appreciated. Thank You, Jean Batalle Please Excuse my English

You said that if I would like to overclock an unlocked intel cpu, then I have to have a certain motherboard for that, is it the same with AMD cpu? I am trying to gather enough info to buy a gaming pc, but there are ALOT to know before buying.. And I am lost tbh.. I hope you could help me choose the parts?plz Thinking about: - Gtx 1070ti -Intel core i5 9th gen but ppl said the new AMD is much much better? But which one? Ryzen 5 3xxx? -x2 8gb ram around 3000mhz, don't know if i need more or less - already got 500gb ssd and 2.5" 2TB hard drive, from my old laptops. - case doesnt matter - 80 gold or better power supply, 600watts - motherboard, I have less than zero idea for which to go for Thx for the videos and the help
@TechteamGB4 жыл бұрын
AMD CPUs are all unlocked, and any B or X series motherboard (B450, X570 for example) will let you overclock them as much as you like. Are you looking to buy the GPU used? I'd probably go with a Ryzen 3600X and an MSI B450 Tomahawk Max - or if you can wait, a B550 board instead for better forwards compatibility, along with 16GB of 3200Mhz/3400Mhz/3600MHz depending on what you can afford.

@@TechteamGB This might sound somewhat demanding but it'd be cool if you did a video on gaming PCs or PC gaming for beginners who know just some of the hardware basics but not the more complicated hardware aspects, software, troubleshooting, coding and whatever else is involved in the operations of a gaming PC that would be essential to know.

I am in a similar boat, maybe I started a bit earlier, but I had to bite the bullet and google acronyms and write up a glossary that I can refer back to later. Generally I stick to the drop down menus after the first results.

I have about 5 or 6 questions today :p. What do you know about VRM's and 8+2 or 6+1, phase doublers? Also I saw today that the B550 boards support PCIe 4 x16 graphics support, PCIe 4 CPU Storage Support, PCIe 3 CPU Chipset Uplink and PCIe 3 General Purpose lanes? Can you help clarify this as PCIe is becoming a lot more complicated then I thought :). So I guess this means - I could run a PCIe 4 graphics card, but can only run NVME at PCIe 3 speeds. I am scratching head regarding the CPU and CPU Chipset Uplink. * What's an uplink and how can these have 2 different speeds? Would this mean the CPU is being slowed down by the chipset?
@TechteamGB4 жыл бұрын
I'll do my best here: -VRMs: they are what regulate the power going to your CPU, generally, the more phases (8+2 would be known as 10 phase, 6+1 would be 7), the better, as there are more channels to accurately deliver power to the chip, and normally the more total power output they have too. The first number in 8+2 is the number of phases for the CPU, the other is phases for the chipset. Most controller chips only have 8 channels for output, so a doubler is a "cheap" (but effective) way of getting more power out of a single channel on a controller. B550: So you can run a PCIe Gen 4 GPU, AND 1 Gen 4 NVME SSD (in the top slot of the motherboard), but any other NVME drives, or anything else connected through the chipset, would run at gen 3 speeds. Chipset link: the chipset is like an extra input/output controller, it needs a way to relay the information its getting to the CPU, so it has a connection to do that. With Ryzen CPUs, they are "SoC" or system on chip, meaning they handle everything internally and dont need external controllers to communicate, so you can feed it a gen 3 link from the chipset, or a gen 4 one, and it'll accept it just fine. PCIe is a very backwards compatible link, so running the chipset at gen 3 is completely separate from running the GPU at gen 4, for example.
@ligh7foo74 жыл бұрын
@@TechteamGB Excellent thankyou :) A few more questions. I don't think you are saying that the Ryzen SoC don't require a chipset anymore, I am going to take a guess (using an analogy) that instead of splitting up the workload or traffic control 50% 50% The Ryzen CPUs take 2/3 and leave the other 1/3 workload or traffic control for the chipset. I/O is a term that is thrown around a lot, I know every device has Input and output and that the mother board has an IO shield near all the ports that I can plug devices into. But I also hear referred to things like the CPU or Chipset or Memory IO or motherboard IO. I think there are a thousand different terms that I am slowly getting my head around. I need to strike a balance between personal research and getting my assignments done, so your help is valuable and has saved me some time. Thankyou.
