Such an insanely complex piece of technology when you really think about it, its incredible. 300,000 time PER SECOND. Just wrap your head around how fast these things happen on such a tiny scale. Fascinating, this is one of the areas that my love of Computers in general is built on, just the sheer amount of Engineering these things have. All happening without the user having any idea just how much is really happening, and then you get into how memory works which is even more mind blowing. It's all just so cool to me.

Imo it's misleading to call it CS, computer science. In german we call it informatik, which is much closer to what this is actually about: information science, which goes deeper into how information can be handled and manipulated. For hardware, EE knowledge is required much more

I followed an electronics degree course and had a 2 year "electronics and computers" minicourse prior to that over the same field. It does teach you how general circuits work and all but it's just basic level stuff (in regards to how hardware works that is; And since it's academic you'll be looking at low level circuits maybe mixed with some ampops at best... all else is going to be big stuff like transformers, power lines, etc). There is no course, at least in the coutry I live in, that is directed towards JUST computer hardware and how a computer works on a mechanical level (that's all I wanted and no matter how hard I looked there was none). These courses focus a lot on software and how there's 1's and 0's and here's logic gates and here's addresses, here's how C/C++/Python interacts with RAM to make/edit a program or file but they dedicate nothing going into how a computer actually works with all those things mashed together, how components comunicate with eachother, how CPU receives, processes and sends information, what signals it sends/receives; Hell they don't even tell you how a motherboard works but for programming expect you to know how RAM does, somehow. Then again, this is a recurring meme with university students from all over the world within various different courses... we are taught basics (sometimes not even that) and general info and then are expected to find out the rest by ourselves. I don't think there's even a master's (degree) for this subject. A lot of people that I've ever talked to that knew more intricate things about computers were self-taught... just goes to show.
