the mystery around the origins of the mycelium was one of the factors that kept the mycelium fascinating, i was afraid after finding out about the mycelium's birth that it would take away all my fascination (This happens in a lot of other shows where the reveal was cool at first but after a while it just lost its shine, like for example Teen Wolf's true alpha) but this reveal of lore is just beautifully crafted. I think its partly because this reveal opens the door to other lore that can be explored. Just.... Motherland Fort Salem never cease to amaze with world building and lore. It is an amazing story to watch unfold.

I loved how Lyne said that she put her own painful memories in this episode. I mean, it was so crazy to see such a powerful being like Alder crying, looking powerless. Alder's song was damn heart breaking. She endured so much and still fights. She doesn't deserve being treated like that. Also she was right, I don't think Petra can take what Alder took in past and survived. Without Alder I kinda hope they'll see how much they needed her and how unexperienced they all are.

She ebdured so much pain and lost so many people she loved. Like basically she treats witches at fort salem like her daughters. I like Tally, Raell and Abigail but they are so young and unexperienced. And I'm not talking about Petra. She conspired with the bitch president but according to the promo the president turns around and stab her in the back. @@monsieurmunroe I don't think Alder lost sight of her purpose. She just didn't think anyone was good enough to hold her position. A human president in her eyes certainly couldn't be trusted to have the best interest of the witches at heart, and no other witch housed the same level of experience that she does due to her extended lifespan and countless wars fought. That was very evident in the conversation she had with Petra. The Spree endangered witches to persecution, and more than anything, improved the army of the Camarilla; Since it caused many humans to believe the Fort Salem Witches were no different than the Spree ones. Alder can be heartless and self absorbed, but her effort to protect witches was always there.

This scene absolutely destroys me. It reminds me so much of a scene from Wandavision- if you’ve seen the show, you know the one I’m talking about- that thinking about the comparisons between Wanda and Alder have been plaguing me for days. I mean even the quote “what is grief if not love persevering” applies here- Alder’s grief is so real here, but also her love. For those she just lost, and the ones before that, and the ones yet to come. By (inadvertently) pouring her grief into the earth, she gave future witches a way to be protected from that kind of grief, and have a living reminder of her love. Don’t mind me, I’ll just be staring into the middle distance until the show gets renewed and season 3 starts.

Benching Alder was a big mistake on the army’s part big time.
@monsieurmunroe3 жыл бұрын
She's not benched. She grew corrupt and they took her out of power. Even the scene where she takes off her badges, they show her respect and reverence cause ultimately the army is about establishing a place for witches in society. Alder's actions threatened that and it was time for her to go. Alder would not refuse to help in the fight against the Camarilla over pettiness and the army wouldn't refuse her expertise or combat skills either. This whole episode established that its not witch vs witch. Its witches vs the Camarilla.
@brunocaldeef82893 жыл бұрын

@@brunocaldeef8289 People really expect them to just roll over and be fine with everything she did as of we didn't just find out HER actions laid the roots for 20 years of witches fighting and killing each other. Like, I feel Alders pain but homegirl is a straight up war criminal.
@gerardlacroix60153 жыл бұрын
@@mercyd2395 She is, but it is more complicated than that. Nicte's actions laid root to the killings, not Alder's. Nicte invedted the off-canon work she used. Nicte defected. Nicte dicided, foolishly, to start killing civilians by the hundred. Alder did comit war crimes, like slaughtering a surrending enemy to make them martyrs. And that is bad. But Nicte is the one which didn't understand that, as bad as a move it was, it was meant to maintain a necessity for witches to be; and to be seen as on the side of "civilians" in conflict, to keep them from burning them like they did at Salem. And I think people judge her a bit hastily with the argument of "power went to her head". Alder dosen't crave power; she already has it. She could, if she so whished, have taken out the president by coup d'état; or pupettered her more than to just authorize military actions outside of the US, or on US grounds. She only bypassed her for what she thought to be legitimate action for the protection of Witches, not to gain power. It's more closer to what Petra said to her. She forgot how to be human. She spent 300+ years fighting for the Witches place in the world, and to defend her daughters, that she forgot about "good" or "bad", about morals. She started to think about numbers, about opportunities, etc... Which effectively lead to some mistakes. So, yes, she was a secondary responsible for the creation of the Spree. And yes, she needed to go... You can't be THE general for hundred of years... Because she just fell into her own automatism, and began to think that she, only, was capable of identifying what "harsh decisions" were better for her daughters. As Tally proved in the penultimate episode, young witches aren't clueless, and sometimes can see alternatives that Adler now can't, because she is trapped into her own habits. But judging her so harshly, on one mistake, and attributing massively what the Spree did as if it were her own actions, is just not seeing Adler clearly.

Spoiler S3: Plot issue..... They've kinda retconned this origin in S3. I guess they meant The Mother entity existed before, then alder created the afterlife within it from her song of grief? The writing is a bit messy on this. The mycelium gave the original 6 stewards power, so therefore Alder didn't create it like they are saying here.... Alder is a steward heir so the mycelium must have existed before her. So what is it? the collective consciousness of dead witches, or a separate entity that created witches to begin with...
