The author reacted badly to some fans not liking the ending of the source material. She (? It's a penname so gender should be unknown but the article said "she" so I guess the interviewer knew the author?) gave permission for a different ending and starting from the 2nd season, any deviation to lead up to it. Basically she said "If you have a better idea that doesn't conflict with the established worldbuilding, just use it and sell DVDs." I don't know if she gave permission for any specific changes or if she just basically gave a blank check to change stuff. I fully agree this is an example of when you want to "rollback"

Pretty sure they don't have other choice than to pull this abominationly adaptation. See the thing is, unlike other manga-adapted anime TPN manga is already finished. So they pretty much won't get anymore anime adaptation after this one. Because, as manga ends that means the fandom is pretty much died off already, there's no one to discuss the weekly manga anymore. It would be a waste to make an anime if there's not a lot of ppl who wants to watch it. Also by now ppl would already know the ending which means less ppl who would be interested in the anime. Cuz while the first season do well it's not as well as let's say Demon slayer that the anime can stand on it's own so it doesn't worth the try. So their choice was to end the story but sacrifice the middle arcs as what they doing rn. Or pull a Nisekoi which basically faithfully adapt the arc from their last point but that's it, anime only watcher would NEVER know how TPN end ever. Because, don't forget anime still basically just a glorified promotion for manga and never really meant to be it's own thing. It's not like the demand for TPN manga was THAT big to make an anime till the story is finished. Which would take abt 5-7 years with a year gap with no content to keep the fans together either mind you.

@jaybee27D3 жыл бұрын
@@dragonsrule20201 I really don’t think the end of the first season is abrupt at all. As long as you go in thinking there’s only one season at least. I already said this but it’s such a perfect conclusion to see all the kids escape and Elizabeth give in. Every character that gets set up has a solid conclusion and you can pretty much just assume that all goes well after they escape.
@dragonsrule202013 жыл бұрын
@@jaybee27D it's definitely a very good stand-alone season and wraps up nicely, but most people won't be content to know that it ends basically at the start of their journey, especially since I couldn't hide the fact that there's a season 2 and thus planned continuation lol. We have so much set up with Minerva, the demons, and what Norman's fate is that wouldn't be explored. The children don't even know what world or what time they're in, and they only got past step one in their escape, not to mention the fact they left a bunch of the kids behind in that finale. Seeing how they deal with the outside world is definitely an exciting prospect, and their goals are WAY loftier now. It's not a simple break out, which itself was incredibly difficult even with a lot of help, it's a full on battle against the dominant species of this foreign world to make themselves a home. I know if I weren't a manga reader I'd be full of unanswered questions. I mean, we see in episode one that they're not afraid of character death, so I definitely wouldn't assume the journey would go fine. And while I'd still consider it good nonetheless, I definitely don't agree that the contents of season 1 are the only thing worth exploring. The next arc gives us a lot of character development, especially to Emma who has been carried until then, as well as really really cool world building and amazing new characters. For being such a large part of the plot, season 1 has almost zero demons in it, so it's really interesting to then finally meet some and watch our beloved characters go toe-to-toe with them. It really ups the ante from Isabella being their biggest threat, not to mention how terrifying of a foe Andrew was and the crazy emotions that went into the bunker evacuation. Add that in with the fact that many people consider Goldy Pond their favorite arc, I'd say it's at /least/ worth going for two seasons/reading the manga still.

I binged the manga after finishing the first season and my reaction to the death squad showing up so quickly was "what?" For anime only viewers, the death squad was terrifying in the manga, there is a tense sequence with the kids trying to escape just to learn the exit was cut off, something Emma learns after two of the kids were gunned down. We actually have heartwrenching scene where Emma says all the kids want to is have normal lives, and the squad leader shows us how evil he is by saying that is all the more reason to kill the kids because they are just livestock who don't deserve normal lives. The whole thing showed us that humans can be just as evil as the demons. I thought the anime's opening was showing Peter Ratri rather than Isabella. I didn't like how she died in the manga after what she went through, I actually thought she deserved to live, especially since the rest of the Grace Field staff got to live. Which leaves me with mixed thoughts about her staying a villain after she told the kids to escape and find happiness. Above all else I was hoping the season would adapt the Goldy Pond arc, and the next season would finish the series and expand on the final battle which I felt went by too quickly in the manga with the kids winning too easily. That said I will give the anime some credit with the scenes where the adult demons are trying to get human meat for kids who degenerating. It is a heartwrenching scene that serves to humanize the demons and since the series has mentioned the aristocrats not sharing their stocks while the commoners are suffering does still nicely foreshadow how evil the nobility is.

To me anime only the escape from the shelter was still scary and the human commandoes came off as evil completely dismissing the kids normal human desire with a callous murderous disregard, instead of responding to the statement by saving they don't deserve normal lives he says since they never had it they have no reason to expect it, which is pretty much the same thing to me. I'm sure in the manga it was more scary and more raw and the humans were more evil monsters, but its not like none of those things are true in the adaptions at all. I'm assuming that in the Anime there is a high chance that Isabella has some secret elaborate plan to undermine the hunt by Grace Fields in some way while pretending to be gung ho in leading it. Although they may just be going back on the characterization that she had given up on the farms ideology at the end of the first story arc and she may just be a straight villain, who can say.
@huntsman93162 жыл бұрын
I disagree. Isabella dying was a great choice that I’m glad they added. She let her kids die so she could live. Now she died to let her kids live. It’s poetic and a good end for her
@dragonstormx2 жыл бұрын
@@huntsman9316 Well if the manga was going to kill her there should have been more set up. The villain is defeated and she dies from a random goon. yeah, it's not about knowing he's not dead. it's that the whole "norman gets shipped out" plot has lost SO much narrative impact when you just casually meet back up with him an arc later. the manga let you stew on his disappearance, you kept wondering just what the heck he was up to and when you actually do meet him, everything is completely different and there's some justified tension from the ways the two crews have grown apart over time. If season 2 is still a dissappointment at the end, I'm always gonna remember season 1 for everything it did right. The op is on my music playlist ffs

But I imagine they make a lot more money off of views on tv and streaming then manga sales. Seems like a bad marketing push.

I’m not gonna make any judgements til the seasons fully released. I just hope that they have a good reason for most of the choices they’re making.

I was looking forward to the Goldy Pond arc. Ther was some amazing moment that couldn't be overlooked. Also, Anime watchers only will never now who that "mysterious figure" is. I can't believe the one who would help the children escape is Lucas. How dare they treated him like this!

Thing is, the narrative can’t work without the Golden pond arc, without feeling like a copout. The narratively most important contribution of that arc, is realizing that the Demons can be beaten by humans and how difficult it is to do. Up until then, the only times demons were killed was by other demons. Showing us that humans are nothing more than victims in this and can’t compete. While in GoldenPond they establish that humans can win against them. Also it establishes the demon hierarchy, by showing us that high tier demons are that much more deadly and difficult to kill. In other words, the finale can’t be satisfying without it.

I held out for so loong. Cut off any conversation friends were beginning to have around me, not interested or just down right scrolled past any text of any thumbnail I saw, stopped looking up fan art of the series, and so so much more. Because I extremely enjoyed season 1 so much and heard they did such an amazing job adapting the first 37 chapters that I wanted to experience it through animation first. I was fine with episodes 1-5, okay with the time skips because it meant I could possibly read more of their journey when reading the manga up to that point while waiting for what I THOUGHT would be a season 3. Then I saw the finale... maybe 40minutes ago.. I FEEL SO BETRAYED AND ANGRY AT THE BS SLIDESHOW TO END THE SERIES!!!! Then I learn all the stuff they just scrapped... I don't think I've ever got upset at an adaptation before in the almost 2 decades of anime I've been watching. Failed adaptations never really bothered me, like with Tokyo Ghoul. Which they made their own else worlds tale so who cares. There's always the source material but IM ABSOLUTELY LIVID!!! I hate that from now on there's gonna be this thought going forward of "Oh I better read ahead less they do what they did to Promised Neverland". That I wasted so much time just trying to save myself from being spoiled so I could consume this story in the way I thought I would enjoy it the most. So then I could go and read the manga and it would be like icing on a cake, and I could enjoy it all over again. Now it's just gonna be bitter and there'll be a pit in my chest of knowing what could've happened. I hate this, I hate this so much... I feel like crying. I'm so angry. I wished I would've seen this or Yazi's video and didn't bypass it all. Maybe then I wouldn't feel like this.
