Banana fruit trees and taro are great diversified plants within a rain forest. Now, with taro [kalò in Hawaiian] is their main starch staple, native Hawaiians produce poí or paia with low land taro, you can also boil them and make a type of mashed taro. Mahalo nui loa Julia and Anastasia.

12:31 Taro root otherwise called 'AMADUMBE' from KZN South Africa , we normally steam or boil the root ,skin and all, and serve with salt, if you like chili salt...preference goes to the smaller ones... i know in Hawaii if I'm not mistaken its mashed into a paste... If you live in a tropical area different countries or regions will prepare it diffrently..... i just like the small roots steamed and served with salt.

I really enjoy your videos. I love all your animals and the wild things you show us. When I was on the Northern Tablelands in Australia the friend I was staying with had at least six large tarantula living in her house. Those large spiders didn't bother us and we didn't bother them. On the other hand poisonous snakes always had me on alert. I thought I had heard that a snake person had died from a Whip Snake bite. Maybe I'm mistaken. Keep up all your good work! Very nice informative video, spring rains are essential for the eco system, this was well portrayed. As I wish I could smell the fragrances of the rain forest and its amazing content. That's really all thats not present as you're explanations are so very thorough. Unprecedented animal bonding is always a joy to witness during these segments. Banana plants appear to be very complex in order to achieve a bountiful harvest. However, you seem to have the knowledge to overcome relative environmental set backs. you can make chips from taros. sprinkle some salt and pepper and also make curry by boiling them first with potato and peel the skin of taro at alltime in the curry add onion, ginger garlic paste, chillies and cardimum, cinamon, cumen, corriender seed, turmeric all in powder form

Those small taro pods are best simply boiled for ten minutes ..cooled..n peeled like potatoes...sprinkle with soya sauce or Himalayan salt..l am Asian n this is how my family cook small young taro
