some other youtube channels are saying that if you shoot on more than 30fps 180 deg rule doesn't work anymore and you need to apply 360 deg rule. SO for 60fps it should be 1/60 shutter speed. What do you think?

@luciuslockwood74483 жыл бұрын
Thanks, but a correction is needed. You correctly say that the "shutter speed has to be two times the frame rate" but show a formula at 36 seconds that has it backwards. The formula says "FPS = 2*SHUTTER SPEED" so for this to be true, for example, if shutter speed is 1/50, then the frame rate would be 2*50 or 100 FPS, not 25 FPS as would be required. The correct formula would show "SHUTTER SPEED = 2 * FPS" , or more correctly, "the 180° Shutter Rule states that your shutter speed should be set to 1/(frame rate x 2)." Thus, if frame rate is 25, shutter speed = 1/ (25 *2) = 1/50, which is the correct result.

How come when I put nd filter, my video is not sharp anymore even if the subject isn't moving?
@TomisaLami3 жыл бұрын
But if the frame rate is the same how does shutter speed affect motion blur? I understand that it's letting in less late the faster it's going because overall there was more time with the shutter closed. But the frame rate is still the same. The subject was still move around the frame the same amount of time. So why does it affect motion blur?

Sir what is the difference between blur and motion blur??
@delgado82 жыл бұрын
Blur is constant
@Posty-vw9jc4 жыл бұрын
Aight. So. Motion blur isn’t how your eyes work. If your tracking something moving with your eyes. Say a car moving. That car won’t be blurred because your eyes don’t have a shutter speed. Your eye is just like a constant analog signal where a camera is taking an analog signal and converting it to digital. The shutter speed is like your Bit rate in this analogy. The background will be blurred or appear to be because your not focusing on it. Try looking at something a few feet away that has some foreground and some background between and behind it. Focus on that object and move your head side to side. Your eyes only ever blur what is at the eve of vision and is not being focused on. Cameras will blur all movement because they need to leave a sensor open to light for a period of time. Things move in that moment so the image changes leaving ghosting look. No matter how high your shutter speed there will always be some element of motion blur. This is just not true to how your eyes see. When you wave your hand back and fourth in front of your face your not seeing motion blur as like a shutter speed. The focus point of your eyes shifts to the background even though you want to focus on your hand. Because of this your hand gets blurred from being out of focus. Sure the shutter motion blur kinda looks like this phenomenon but not for the reason most think. It’s because of focus as I understand it (This is all from my personal observations. It may not me factual. Just applying my logic to a problem I see everywhere. ) TL:DR. No. Go read it. Not gonna tldr for you

I've had motion blur with my gopro8 for the past year and it drives me insane as I've at times spent hours trying to resolve it with various youtube videos but still it happens after I've tried maaaany different settings! Generally it's not noticeable when the shot is still but when I say move the camera 90 degrees then there's blurring which i don't want.. I want a fluid shot and today I've tried your method when shooting at 24fps taking the shutter speed to 150 which makes the image very dark so I've raised the iso but still the blurring occurs! Can anybody help me! 😕

Hello sir. I have a question. If I am shooting in 4K /24 fps and I double it to 1/150 to avoid motion blur, will my film still look cinematic as it did when I shot it in 24 fps or will it make footage look more realistic similar to shooting in 30 fps?
@Posty-vw9jc4 жыл бұрын
So you will still get that 24 “cinematic” look. The problem is is that you won’t get as much motion blur that is prevalent in shooting at a say 1/24 or /48. And if your shooting in 24 FPS you want to use a multiple of 24 rather than the 25 he used in the video (go with 1/144 for a closest match). And if it’s going to KZbin. You want to film in 30 or multiples of 60 as screen refresh rates will make your 24 or 25 FPS footage look like there’s a microstutter. I for one hate motion blur. As I have to do a lot of rotoscoping motion blur fucks with the edges of things so it’s hard to get a clean mask.

Everyone always goes on about motion blur to make it look cinematic but you can only see the difference on a paused frame. As you say our eyes blur it anyway so why add more? The mountain clip isn’t even moving enough to have any motion blur.

Motion blur in 60 fps videos is a stylistic choice some creators use to add a cinematic feel, enhance smoothness in fast movements, and maintain a consistent visual style. While it might not be everyone's preference, it can make action scenes look more dynamic and natural. Ultimately, it's about achieving the desired effect for the specific video.

@@FreewellGear lol no but really, i was honestly asking where does the idea that our eyes see at that ratio? Because i honestly didn't know we saw "blur", really. Is it Hollywood? Or is there any science. I just got one of your filters. Yet your answer here is making me regret to be honest. A little rude when i was asking an honest question, regardless of my ignorance. Why do i have to see a doctor?
@FreewellGear4 ай бұрын
@@Fitandover40 When I mentioned seeing a doctor, I was concerned about your health, as motion blur is a natural way our eyes perceive fast-moving objects. If you don't see any blur at all, it might be worth checking with a medical professional to ensure everything is alright with your vision. The concept of motion blur in video is based on how cameras capture motion, which can be different from how our eyes perceive it. The 180-degree rule is a filmmaking technique where the shutter speed is set to be twice the frame rate. This creates a natural-looking motion blur that mimics the way our eyes see motion in real life. Our eyes do perceive motion blur, especially when objects move quickly. However, it's more subtle and less noticeable compared to what a camera captures. Filmmakers use this technique to make the motion in videos appear more natural and fluid. I appreciate your interest and hope this explanation helps. If you have any more questions about our filters or any other topics, feel free to ask. We're here to help!
@Fitandover404 ай бұрын
@@FreewellGear ok I apologize if i came out a little strong. I see now, i do see blur now that you mention it but i really have to pay attention, i guess our brains compensate and as you said it is very subtle, and it has to be really high speed to be noticeable, it's just that when you feeze it in time with a photo is really extreme and I had never heard about this "eye motion blur" before, ever. New to drones but not new to photography and there I knew blur but had no clue about this concept in motion pictures. Thanks for the explanation. Btw, the ND filter I got look great. Thanks.
@FreewellGear4 ай бұрын
@@Fitandover40 Thank you for your understanding and for sharing your thoughts. It’s great to hear that the explanation helped clarify things. Motion blur can indeed be subtle and our brains do a wonderful job of compensating for it in everyday life, which is why it might not be as noticeable until pointed out or captured in high-speed scenarios. I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying the ND filter! If you have any more questions about motion blur, photography, or our products, feel free to reach out. We’re always here to help.
