Study the "joy of vex" on google. It's twenty lessons and should make you more comfortable with working with vex to do things.

People ask how and with what tools something impressive was done because it is an obviously relevant question to somebody wanting to achieve a similar result. I never understood criticizing people for asking what tools were used to create something - especially from a guy whose 'philosophy' is that all of the software tech is a tool to and end. Sounds a like what a tool would say.
