You can literally draw one character and make them move in only after effects. You have a lot of masking and tweaking to do or to make it easier you could draw the character in different layers like how she did the hair

This video is everything. I learned so much more off this video than any teacher has actually shown me first hand or with any videos. Keep doing you and keep the good content up. I'm really going full force now with animation after seeing this because I always saw this girl who would make anime like you sit right next to me in class and I was like wow her stuff is amazing I wish I could learn from her but I never got to see how she work only slightly and this is how she made her animations and now that I see this I see how it's done this is what I've been struggling with because now I know I can ghost the frame over the other I didn't know what it was called the closest thing I've seen was an app my brother showed me but been trying to get it to work in Photoshop.

Thank you so much for this! I have a fear of After Effects that I'm trying to overcome haha I guess my biggest question is, when do you know to use After Effects for some things, and Photoshop for others? For example, why add the pink knees and shadows in After Effects instead of Photoshop?

getting the fade right on the red of the knee the same way in every frame would be a nightmare, much easier with vectors to move around and keep consistent and it was easily masked to the character in after effects, which would have been more difficult in photoshop.
