Congratulations! Your hard work paid off and your persistence is impressive. And you did it in a 4th gen which is very cool, congratulations again. My son and I are currently building a 1986 Firebird to compete next year, hope to see you there.

Thanks! That’s awesome about the third gen you’re working on. Big Bend will be a blast in that car no matter what class you end up in.

I did the race in my Vette. No navigators, not even a stopwatch. First time in the race in 110mph category. I was second to last at +40.xx secs over 120 miles. I'm happy! 40 seconds over 120 miles!! The big dogs do it in under one second though. Yeah, less than a second.

That’s awesome. Same thing when we first started, guys were doing 0.xxx times. Since we were bad at keeping time we thought unlimited would be easier. But then we started blowing up and breaking down instead. It’s a fun race no matter what class though!

Come play in Nevada at the Silver State Classic Challenge. We have been twice a year for many years now. But now Big Bend is now twice a year also.

That’s awesome! It’s always been on our list once we can sort out hauling the car to Nevada and back. Would be a long haul with the junky old tow vehicle we use.

Nice video! Really wanting to run this race this year in October. I've run at speeds between 100-180mph for hours on the Autobahn in Germany with no issues - what's so difficult about this road (not being an ass, legit question: what are the issues or problems you might have on this stretch of highway)? Tips, tricks, etc..? Other than wildlife, are there any sections with bad road or crosswinds? Like how your video covered multiple parts of the race - thanx!

It’s bizarre but the average speed classes all the way up to 150 mph average everyone seems to make it through the race ok. Something seems to happen once you switch to unlimited (not shooting for any average speed) and are full throttle the entire time, the cars just love to blow up and break down. I think some of it might be the heat since it can be 90+ degrees sometimes. It’s also a twisty road so some of the corners you are down to around 100 mph. Some cars have hit 225 mph in the long 7 mile straightaways but only average 150 mph because they aren’t as good in the turns, and then our car tops out at 185 mph but since we get through the turns pretty well we also can usually average around 150. There are crosswinds sometimes and the crown in the middle of the road can make things interesting. For our first race many years ago even though I had some previous racing experience they wanted us to start in the 125 mph class with a 140 mph top speed. We were bummed out at first because that didn’t sound fast, but it was a blast trying to figure out the road and what we were doing to try and average 125 mph. After that we were hooked.

@@Motiv8Labs Thats what I was kind of worried about. The Hellcat will cruise on the Autobahn for 20-40 minute stretches in the unrestricted speed zones at 120-180mph like it's nothing. Was worried I'd feel the same thing - bored at going "just" 125mph, lol. But I get it & I know it will still be fun. I've had 4 passengers with me on a stretch of road where we can do high speed runs & we topped out at 204mph before I had to lift. Car loves high speed cruising, so this seems like the best place to try it out again. Gonna have to give it a shot. Thanx for the info & the reply!
