Your supposed to pressure it DRY first to prevent and see if it will hold pressure BEFORE you try to use it wet.

If i can make a quick recommendation, to get a good seal the first time, and to have less of a chance for the adapter/chain popping off under pressure - Face the J-hooks away from the reservoir. Don't face them inwards.

I was interested in this and thanks to your video, I'm gonna stick to the classic self bleeder technique. Had my 6 year old pump the brakes while I cracked the bleeder. To hell with all these "fancy" tools

I just use the screw on cap reservoir with that hose. Never had an issue.

I did not get to use my Smotive pro which is similar to this right away. Now that I want to use it it won't pump. The plastic plunger thing inside must have shrunk and hardened.

Dude next time just get an adapter cap that fits your car, and for god's sake use a reservoir and a hose before you open that nipple. You get that fluid all over your brake pads and you have to change them again. Nice video quality though. Those universal caps are crap.
@Teramydog3 жыл бұрын
better solution is to buy the correct adapter for that vehicle

Get the correct cap attachment that's made for your vehicle, no fuss, no drama. When you crack open the bleed port, have a hose on the end going to a container so you don't make a mess or contaminate the brake pads with brake fluid. I had to stop watching when I saw that he just cracked the bleed port open and let the fluid just go everywhere.

A pressurized container with brake fluid.... recipe for disaster. A bit more pressure>> hose/lid pops out >> splashing pressurized fluid all over >>> all paint and anti-rust gone.

"It is great but, after over paying for this glorified, job specific, bug sprayer with a gauge on it (new)... I had to seal the gauge to the tank and I always have a big mess at the reservoir even though I always manually add sealant to the gaskets". Yeah... ummm either you got paid for this video or you are the easiest to please / most forgiving human on the planet. Also, if you had googled, I am 99% sure that you would find out that petroleum jelly and oil based grease ultimately degrades rubber (should not be used on the gasket).

The universal is a piece of junk. Spilled over 1 qt. of fluid because it didn't make a good seal. But with a dedicated adapter, the system is fantastic. I called Motive last week to ask them for an adapter for my Titan pickup, but they never got back to me. I will go to Home Depot and get a piece of rubber stock and cut it out to fit inside the universal adapter head to make a seal that works. The hard plastic universal adapter is not good enough. It needs some soft rubber inside to make a good seal. Its not rocket science. Too bad Motive couldn't figure this out. They have a good product otherwise.

Worst adapter kit I have ever seen. Not sure why the company can’t make custom caps for every major brand car? Just buy lemon caps and do a 5 minute modification and sell it for 2 to 3x. The engineering talent seems nonexistent at the company.

Motive has yet to make an adapter that's specific for some Acura and honda models. I had to use this universal adapter for my TSX but have used the specific motive screw caps for BMW, Alfa Romeo, and other european models.
