As Berto was attacking Floyd he realized that Floyd is seeing everything and just waiting for the perfect spots to counter you where theres nothing you can do to defend yourself after you've extended. What a 21 year old Floyd did to Hernandez was crazy. And no one demolished a prime Corrales like Floyd did. He adapted to beat Castillo decisively in a rematch and adapted to come back and beat Corley after being hurt, much like in the Mosley fight. N'dou and Gatti were examples of what Mayweather could to to B level fighters in his prime, particularly if they lacked defense. Judah, De La Hoya, Hatton and Marquez just before Mosley. It's a shame you didn't start watching Floyd until after Mosley which came after Marquez. After his first retirement, two years before the Marquez fight, his athleticism and reflexes just weren't quite the same. He relied more on skill as he wasn't quite as athletic or sharp. From there on his physical capacity slowly diminished but he always had the skill, ring smarts and gameplan to carry him through. His young days featured, Vargas, Hernandez, Castillo, Chavez, Corrales, good lord how did this man survive all them matadors and pistoleros trying to assassinate him.

Mystery? He is a hugger when he gets trapped. So he is not a fighter.. toe toe fight, he would have gotten destroyed manytimes.
@D.Antony3 жыл бұрын
@@bimmerm2480 What a joke. You don't have a clue about boxing. Not a clue. It's called "boxing", not "slugging". If they wanted boxers to fight toe to toe, they'd put them in a phone booth instead of a boxing ring. The term "the sweet science" means exactly that, SCIENCE: Using the entire ring to your advantage. It means out thinking your opponent. Out strategizing him. Taking away what he does best. If your opponent is a good inside fighter, you take that away by wrapping him up when he gets INSIDE. Make him fight YOUR fight. Mayweather understands this better than anyone. And that's why he's undefeated. Some of the best fighters to ever lace 'em up and their respective trainers have gone up against Mayweather, and they've all lost! But some internet wannabe like you thinks he knows how to do what they couldn't! Lol. You've got to be kidding me! What a joke.

really you wan the most difficult style to execute? after boxing a bit for a year i see how technically intensive and thinking in training/sparring it requires. for example a guy with similar skill set but not the iq or defense of floyd was amir khan. people who dont have the power but have the speed. need to move precisely, work on their defense at every range, work on the offense to walk down people when necessary, adapt to different styles and counter punch hard so they can stop people from constantly coming forward. most difficult but most rewarding route. you constantly need to eat, drink, box and keep thinking about boxing.

Tricky part about Floyd is that he uses the first few rounds to see how his opponents reacts (even if he has to take a few hits in the process). Floyd then simply works to win rounds on the scorecards while never letting his opponent know that he's spotted their tail, but effectively hiding his own. Seems easy, but I think that slight mental edge allows him to undermine his opponent's confidence and then set ore traps, create angles, manage distance, telegraph shots and dominate later rounds.

Pacquiao is a much more aggressive and entertaining boxer to watch. Floyd's style is very boring and too defensive. Floyd was very smart boxer. He knew that boxing matches are mostly 12 rounds. Other fighters look at Floyd and think that he has a slow punching output. So, they bum rush him with punches in rounds 1 to 6. By the 4, 5 or 6 rounds, you can see their energy draining and use all their energy. I don't care how good you are. You use all your energy. Then you are going to become an average fighter. What they failed to realize is that he is keeping energy for rounds 6-12. The human body can't put out a 100% of punching power for all 12 rounds. You are going to slow down, and when you do. He will pick you apart. Your body slows down. Reactions like punching, head movement, and etc, the body just don't want to do all those things. You can't block punches. It's brain overload. He just starts tagging those guys.
