I'd bet money its a dog-box gear set with different, longer ratios. That 2-3 shift is really short after launching in first, barely a 1000rpm drop. Not very conducive to consistent drag times and even for laptimes as you dont really want to have to shift gears in the middle of a corner.

if you are going to open to the engine. should you guys put in better and stronger forged pistons and con-rods? Because while the head studs has sort of failed due to high boost pressure. there is a chance the next point of failure would be the con-rods or pistons. So many times I seen high powered engine blew up and punch a hole thru the engine block opening a window and spew its guts all over the road or during the dyno run. And the main thing that failed was actually the con-rods breaking and becomes a hammer and struck the engine block opening up the block. About the MoTeC AWD controller. Is there any sort of kit to run on the Skyline GT-R ATTESA ETS? I would def love to see the some more love for the GT-R
@lewisanth49863 жыл бұрын
if I recall correctly, the goal when they started this series was to find the limits of the stock engine. so as the majority suspected the head studs were the 1st to go.. at just shy of 475hp...with nothing but valve springs... on a 1.6T 3 banger.... madness haha. honestly if that is still the plan, I would think they just do the studs and keep going with the motor until they find the next point of failure - all part of aftermarket R&D. that being said who knows what will happen since they plan on giving this car away soo..
@linchester84643 жыл бұрын
@@lewisanth4986 pistons are like 1500 AUD and rods were 1800 AUD. Imo those are sound investments if you are pushing close to 500 bhp in the 3 bangers. Serious mods. I will def overbore the cylinder walls and drop in cast iron sleeves for added strength. Oh if hes putting a sequential gearbox. Those will set you back 15K Euros.
@lewisanth49863 жыл бұрын
@@linchester8464 I'm sure cost isn't an issue as that's well documented thanks to the sponsors. I'm taking about the original plan to use this engine as test mule to find it's limits and where the aftermarket r&d is needed.

There wasn't anything wrong at all with the headstuds, it was the headgasket.
@lewisanth49862 жыл бұрын
Watch the video and listen carefully. The head gasket went because the head lifted - head lifted because the studs stretched. A head gasket is only as good as the clamping pressure it's squished together with.

500bhp... Andrew has spoken about this very important term before and probably also why he still refers to it as the "most powerful Yaris in the world". I don't doubt that their car made what they said, but it also doesn't mean a lot being bhp. I'm also sure the guys at Motec and Powertune could put a "bang" tune into this Yaris too, but why?
