That road ( Portelance Rd ) was my first off-road adventure trip . I have done it 3-4 times now . The first part along the river is the best but around the half way point you cross the last bridge driving north and the road to me is less fun , large loose rocks for miles and some of the logging trucks on the last 15 km or so are driven by complete idiots . Last year I changed it up and after leaving Capreol , driving north of Lake Wanapatei for a few miles you come to a fork where on your right you can drive across the Wanapatei River and drive south along the river before turning north to Paradise Lake then you head east for a while until another fork in the road which I went right ( south ) down the east side of Wanapatei Lake past the Sportsmen Inn , then south to Hwy 17 . Pretty rough road from Paradise Lake going east , 8-10 water crossing as it was early May . and very steep hills made of rock . More recommended for ATV'ers or people with a lot of trail riding experience ...unlike me lol

Isn't that a great road? I hope you had decent weather. Did you catch my latest? I was up north of Chapleau: kzbin.info/www/bejne/inPMnJyHiZ54oa8

@@nick949eldo Yes , I watched that one a few days ago . I can't imagine myself driving such a big rig let alone up to Missinabi Park . I love the Cavalcade ! You have a lot of skill driving on backroads on big bikes . I had great weather , the road is a bit confusing but doable . The one sign saying Shining Tree was in between 2 roads but it didn't say which way to go lol . I think you stopped there in the video . Anyway I think the rule of thumb is to always keep the river beside you for as long as you can . It was a great road trip with a bit of an accomplishment feel to it as I never really knew for sure that I was going the correct way until the last hour or so . Its funny , when I ran into you last year I just came from my first attempt at getting through to Shining Tree but I took the wrong road just north of Capreol and after a few hours turned back and ended up in Sturgeon Falls vowing to try it again in 2021 . Well.... veni vedi vici ..in 2021.

Hey Nick.... nice job... new jacket? I'm glad that you resisted that 'curious feeling' and had the presence of mind to take a video clip of the moment of no start reality. It really lends to the feel. "It ain't like nothing at all".... does the bike do that alot? contact? low volt? Being from Sudbury I've driven that road a few times or more for fishing trips. I had a brother and two sisters living in Capreol back in the 70/80's.....Looks much better than 40 years ago! Just kidding! Best blueberries on the Earth! She is also a ditch pig by the way she simply glided through the wrecked culvert zone... all the low end torque you'd ever require....lots and lots of inertia in those pistons and flywheel. Is that a new instrument cluster too? Good idea the disclaimer at the end.... do you carry the "SPOT" satellite device? Quarrm minima credula postero.....or something like that....."tomorrow is not a guarantee". You have great style young man! Wish I had it. Dave

Meet many bears on the trail?

absolutely zero wildlife. Oh wait - one grouse. Surprising - and not even much bear poop on the road.
