As far as Italian bikes, I have owned a ducati 860, moto morini 500 camel, laverda 3cl 1000, cagiva 650, and currently have a 1989 Moto Guzzi Mille GT 1000 and a 2013 Moto Guzzi Stone 750. Have owned several German bikes to include BMW and Zundaps. Grew up with British bikes--meaning Triumph and BSA. Have never been interested in Harley. Owned several Suzuki's to include 2-stroke models and the Wankel rotary 750. The Moto Guzzis have been my favorite above all the rest. Quirky, reliable, tractor-like in that the Japanese "refinement" is not there--but if you love just being connected to machinery and sound--Moto Guzzi!--mike battle

Your experience on different bikes is a great collection of amazing bikes. I’m happy I read your comment as I have been debating between a BMW and Moto Guzzi. I will definitely buy the Guzzi based on your feedback. Thanks. I had a 74 CB550 and a 91 k75. I also grew up riding dirt bikes, so not quite as extensive as your experience.

I sold my T120 awhile ago, and was looking for something a little lighter, less hp. (I’m 64 years old). The V7 850 checked all the boxes for me (I wasn’t aware of the Special Edition @ the time or I would’ve gone for that). Purchased the Stone, and added Agostini pipes, and bar end mirrors, absolutely love the bike. Huge tank capacity, and shaft drive. I think it’s a great value for the $. Rarely see a Guzzi in the States. I agree re: single dial, easy to read, and I don’t miss cleaning the spokes I had on the Bonneville.

It is a great Classic ride. I purchased the same bike last month from Motopia New Mexico here in Albuquerque. Been riding for over sixty years and the Guzzi really puts a kids smile on my face every time I fire it up. The only other ride that’s in the same class is the Kawasaki W series bikes. Yep my W650 and W800 also keeps me smiling. Ride those miles with many smiles amigo and if you ever make it to Albuquerque the coffee (or PG TIPS) is on me.

I have also admired the Guzzis for most of my 34 years of riding, but never owned one. Yours is beautiful and that exhaust is a work of art!? Looking for a second bike in 2024, to sit alongside my perfect commuter RE Scram. The Guzzi is on the list!

Beautiful looking bike, Dave. I don't know how you've got the patience to stand and talk about it, I'd want to get out on it as soon as it arrived. It looks lovely in the gloss black. Shame they didn't paint the rear mudguard in a gloss finish, but there you go. I like the instrument console. The round look suits the style of bike, and being offset looks more classy than being stuck in the middle. You're probably out on it now, you lucky bugger. Enjoy yourself and report back how it went.👍

Just sold my V7 850 stone and bought a 350 classic reborn 🤔 although while musing the pro and cons of the enfield, I knew my guzzi was still for sale locally... It took a lot of willpower to stop me buying it back... lots of sellers remorse... It definitely won't be my last guzzi.... FYI, the gearbox is very clunky for the first 2000 miles it improves a lot the more miles you do... Enjoy your new bike, I'm more than a little bit envious.

Hello and Greetings to you and your assistant, ;-) he introduces his self in Alfred Hitchcock style :-) i own this Moto Guzzo V7 Stone 850 Special Edition since middle of 2023 . is real different to my "World traveling Bike" a Honda Transalp PD06 from 1991 After 8000km is still happy and i a perfect "Good Weather Bike" - And my wife also fits very well on the back of the bike in her tight leather dress . Only the original tires not perfect for me , i switched to Conti Road Attack 4. I also had the opportunity to compare the special edition and the normal 850. It's not quite 2 HP and not 2 Nm difference, but the engine characteristic is definitely different The Special Edition is “sportier” if one can say so Moto Guzzi Bikes has a own soul .. you can love it or hate it :-) Greetings from Germany , and thanks for your Time

I bought a new V7 Special last year and i only had it two months before i sold it. A great bike to ride, but the quality of these bikes is very suspect. I had the shaft drive leak oil onto the rear wheel and both wheels started to corrode badly in its first week. My dealer had a hell of a battle with Piaggio in getting the repairs done under warranty. I hope you have better luck than I did. 3:04

this bike has many things that can be serviced by yourself. Most difficult might be the front shocks and removing the back wheel. The valve adjustments of this bike is about 30 minutes work for both cilinders. As you can see in the video, the engine heads are pointing away from the gastank. That itself makes servicing the valves a easy job already. Engine oil, oil filter, airfilter easy job. Cardan oil too much and it will destroy the seals, that is tricky. I bought it mainly to service as much I can by myself. Looks was 2nd for me. Sorry Moto Guzzi lovers.... ^_^)

I had the V85TT which shares the same engine and drivetrain as yours. It was a fantastic bike but when the temps get hot outside, it would sound like a diesel. All of the user groups say that this is normal and to just use more throttle and rpm. I didn't like it and opted for a bike with a larger engine and stiffer suspension for my touring needs. In Britain, you shouldn't have a problem, but you might notice the same in the summer in places like Spain. Build quality is great and you should enjoy this bike immensely. Have fun and Happy Christmas!

Great choice, I've had a V7 Stone Centenario since 2021 on which I've done 4000 miles, all of which have been great. I'd recommend a fender extender (along with the luggage and engine bars) as that tiny front guard doesn't do much to stop a wet road grit-blasting crap all over the bike.

Lovely looking machines they are. Moto Guzzi may not have the longest running name but I'll guess they are the longest running from the original factory currently & still hand built solely in Italy. Interestingly the V7 doesn't have a centre stand but Moto Guzzi were the first to have a proper purpose built centre stand.

Beautiful bike, I agree it would be even better with the twin clocks but it's defiantly a looker. I obviously love transverse V twins as my two bikes are a CX500 (1978 original plastic maggot) and a Moto Guzzi Bellagio and I have to say I love them both. I'm sure you will become a Moto Guzzi fan, what I love about them is people always love to talk to you about your bike. There are also Guzzi owner clubs all over the country where there is loads of knowledge should you ever need it. Enjoy your beautiful bike, I think it even looks nicer than the V7 Stone Corsa.

That's a lovely bike, Dave! Personally, I prefer the twin clock arrangement, but cast wheels are better. I too thought that 2021 Special in the blue colour was a beautiful-looking bike; pick of the bunch, that one! I agree on the need for engine bars and, as others have said, a fender extender for the front; have both on my Breva 750. It pays to warm the motor for a minute or two first thing, as it makes the initial gearshift easier. Also, I've found that, on the move, pre-loading the lever results in smoother, quieter shifts. It's ironic that the bike doesn't come with a centrestand, given that Guzzi reputedly invented them; one for mine costs $500 here in Oz... Anyway, enjoy; I know that you will! 👍

Great review So good I bought one myself, took your advice with the crash bars and ordered off eBay. The other Add on was a rear carrier from Moto Guzzi, a small screen and fender extender from powerbronze. The bike gives so many smiles per mile, brings back memories of the V50ll I owned in the mid 80’s It definitely has enough power for today’s roads, comfortable and full of character. No rider modes, no self cancelling indicators, no auto lights from DRL to headlights , no Apple CarPlay. I also own a Honda NT1100 which great with all the tech, but the Guzzi is real old school motorcycle. I’ve always said everyone must ride a Guzzi at least once in their riding career. Keep up the good work with your entertaining and honest videos
@alancoath8 ай бұрын
I think this easily the best looking, and most distinctive, of the V7 range. It's gorgeous and I think it looks even better than the Special. Cast wheels look good and are more practical than wheels with tubed tyres (I know, having recently had a puncture, it was right pain). I even think the single speedo suits the bike, twin clocks are a bit common I think. The speedo being offset is a nice unusual touch, typical of Guzzi.

Well, just bought one myself and haven't picked it up yet. It was your You Tube post that alerted me and they was a second hand one with 210 miles on the clock in Canterbury plus I was thinking of having a change and chopped in my 2020 Interceptor. I was a little concerned about a few comments about selecting/searching for neutral as the interceptor was good plus the service or should I say contacts in Italy and UK were very poor from another U tuber. Just watch your Givi report thanks for the warning, if they have got it wrong a grinder and 'good' welder will solve it (not my welding). Have you tried the luggage? would it sit on the exhausts? I expect I won't be fitting panniers as I would use my BMW RS1200RS. Yep £50 crash bars off ebay look fine but lets get the baby home. OMG ie MG has a MG.

A wonderful machine, the only middleweight(ish) motorcycle left in the market with shaft drive, everything else these days just have dirty chains. Great choice and ticks all the boxes including some tick's I don't like. #1 is the weight. After 3 ST13/Pan Euro and a 650 Vstrom I was looking for a lighter bike for these old bones. Granted I have heard it carries it's weight down low. 500 pounds or there abouts is a bit much.. #2 is dealer support. I have a MG dealer about ½ hour from me and has been around for many years. There are about as many Enfield dealers as MG dealers around where I live. My problem is if I go on a trip and need dealer support. I have read MG factory support is lacking to say the least. This BEAUTIFUL bike is still on my radar though...

Not only is the clock off set , for no good reason it seems , but it is turned a way from level . Looks like a moron designed it and it was installed by someone left their glasses at home . I love these bikes , but I would want the dual clocks and alloy wheels which are not a combination Guzzi sell . I could do with out the Special's chrome , it is really nice , but it would probably suffer corrosion especially with me being slow to polish anything ! So a Stone with two clocks please Guzzi ! And maybe that variable cam timing and power of the V85 engine (for 2024) , real Brembo disks to go with the calipers and fully adjustable suspension thank you . Almost perfect otherwise ! .

I have a Moto Guzzi after a life long affection for BMW Motorrad that was originally grounded in the /2 and /5 bikes. Decades ago fter I sold a perfectly useable R1250GSA on the grounds of being a mechanically fussy, expensive, ego dealership bike I couldn’t bond with - and it being the third or fourth BMW having gone that direction - and seeing the next version come out and be even more off in that direction- and not really finding much else I could relate to - well, after that I suddenly looked at Moto Guzzi. I have no idea why I didn’t look at M-G as an option sooner. Moto Guzzi makes wonderful motorcycles. They are extremely machine-like. They are riders’ bikes, not squid bikes or trick bikes, rider life bikes. Much of the owner work can be done DIY for pleasure or necessity. The parts are available. If you’re in that space, a great to learn about but rather small used market is there. Finally the dealer/independent mechanic/ owner community triad is pretty old school. Mine is a 1400, but they are just great bikes as a line. And the one you have is a beauty.

An awesome looking and great sounding model! Interesting that you mention the centre stand or not having one. A fellow locally ordered the centennial version this past June. He opted for a centre stand which the dealer could not supply due to delays in availability from Genoa. He was delivered his machine on the last day of November. Looking forward to the quiz 👍👌👏

Cheers Ian I would only want a centre stand for chain work I think….get your thinking cap on for that quiz 😁👍🏻

I have my eye on one of these but they (Special Edition) are fairly expensive in Australia - not much change out of 20K (a Speed Twin 1200 is about 1K more expensive). RE Super Meteor is around the 12K mark. Is the V7 worth double the price of the Meteor? Torn between the V7 SE and ST 1200 - would be my only (hopefully forever) bike so would like it to be fun for a quick blast through the twisties but also be comfortable 2-up for a few hours (½ day or so). As i'm 55 not looking for high (lose your licence) speeds!

Always loved a Guzzi and the Stone is a cracker! Nearly bought an 850 le mans back in the day but it just felt too small physically. Ended up with a Yamaha 1.1. Looking forward to seeing the stone out and about, and I've made an appointment to talk to someone who says they can help me get over my issues with the instrument positioning. :) Congratulations mate, beautiful bike.

You're correct the Guzzi Lemans was a very compact motorcycle and quite small by some of todays offerings. I'm relatively small in stature....more so in 1978.... so it was okay. Its distinctive profile was beautiful ...in my opinion....

I hear you Brian. I tested the Ducati 900 supersport as well and fell in love, but it was the same problem. I'm not huge but they were just too small, but what bikes they were! I ended up loving my Yammie though, a competent cruiser with teeth like a great white when you needed them. Happy days.@@brianperry

The alloy wheels are preferred for long distance rides. No more tubes for this rider. I'd rather pop in a plug than deal with a flat on spoked wheels.

@The Bingley Wheeler I dont know if you have notice the bent injector pipe on the left of the bike . That needs urgent attention .!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A new bike shouldnt come out of the shop like that . Lovely bike . Very tempting . 👍👍👍👍

If they do a replica lemans mk1 version as royal Enfield have done with their continental GT I’ll be buying one.

I had a CX500 as a kid and it was ugly as hell, these are beautiful. Wish l'd bought one instead of another cruiser last year, l'd looked at them long enough. I'd probably go for the prior model because for me the speedo ruins this one, such a small thing but l couldn't live with it, why put a digital display on a retro analogue bike?

Great looking bike, I hope it's more reliable the the California Stone I had about 20 years ago. I reckon I replaced every single electrical component on it!
