Over here in the States, they’re mostly ridden by, respectfully, old men (and some women) that KNOW about motorcycles. Interestingly enough, with the v7iii and the 850 models, this is changing. More of the younger crowd is buying the Guzzi brand and seems like dealer network is growing. I know I came across the brand by accident. A friend was selling their V7 Classic and it was within my price range, but I almost bailed out because all I knew is it’s Italian. In the US, we perceive Italian = $$$ (£££). I decided to try it and it changed my life forever in my motorcycling career. I’ve met people I never would have otherwise, explored and saw places that just made it special on this motorcycle, etc. Now, I still have that V7 Classic all these years later and I recently added a V7iii Milano with ECU tune, Mistral exhaust, etc. Two bikes with two entirely different attitudes, but both retain the Italian charm and character. Thanks for sharing these videos, i feel like the channel is without a doubt the top of the best on KZbin. Perfect blend of commentary and riding. Gorgeous scenery over there, hope one day I can experience it with the wind in my face
@Deetroiter8 ай бұрын
I meant to add in that the history of the brand also makes me very proud to own one. The mandello eagle as a tribute to one of the founders who didn’t get to see the brand come to life due to passing in the service, being the first motorcycle brand in the world to build and use a wind testing tunnel, etc. There’s just a certain honesty to the brand and the bikes. No smoke and mirrors, no gimmicks…

I was 14 when I saw the Le Mans and California and instantly fell in love with the brand. Fast forward 46 years I came back to biking and having browsed the Japanese catalogues and nothing got my juices flowing, everything looked rather samey then I saw the V7special picked up the phone and ordered one no test drive just had to have it, I have had her two years now and have no regrets she’s a beautiful bike, I particularly love the engine sound it chatters its way along, it’s very comfortable to not a rocket ship but now coming upto 63 my space jock days are long behind me however it isn’t a slouch when needed for overtaking. In short I’m a long time Guzzi lover and at least one thing on my bucket list has been achieved.

Hi Darcy, I have a V7 Stone. Changed the exhaust to mistral, new sport air filter from DNA with open cover, and most importantly, new ECU mapping with a device from Guareschi ( called t800) and now its a complete different bike. The motor now is free to do what it was supposed to do in the first place without getting strangled by euro5 crap. If you own a V7 one day, try it out. Ride safe!
@guffmam69958 ай бұрын
Yep I did the same and absolutely transformed the bike. The device is actually by UpMap but it's Guareschi who provide the different maps. They also build the homolgation kits for the V7 racing series in Italy.

Just got a Special 850 the other day. Don't miss anything at the moment (except maybe the mistral sound) but curious to better understand the difference after your mod... Do these changes affect the wear/lifespan of the motor?

@guffmam69958 ай бұрын
@fredarthur2374 arguably the aftermarket map increases the lifespan of the motor as they run VERY lean from the factory. From the seat of the pants I found the map fixed the annoying hole in the midrange

I've had my '23 Special Edition for a few weeks, it's a great bike! I put a deposit down on a '24 Corsa back in Nov, but with all the drama surrounding the release of the '24s here in the States, and the dealer offering an $1800 discount on a '23 Special Edition, I decided to get that one instead. I had them install a set of Agostini reverse cone mufflers with the dB killers removed, airbox lid elimination kit, and an UPMAP tune. I put thin red pinstripes on the wheels, painted the raised edges on the valve covers in Italian flag colors, and have an OEM solo seat getting redone with a ventilated Alcantara seat panel and red/silver stitching, to match the OEM dual seat. This is my sixth air-cooled Guzzi, and even though they're an acquired taste, those that know, know! This bike sounds awesome with different mufflers (especially the Agos, since they don't have cats like other aftermarket ones), and handles better than a 2018 Triumph Street Twin 900 I used to have. They're great bikes, and being air-cooled with pushrod valves and shaft drive, nowhere near as complicated to maintain as other modern bikes.
@ravenarrow46314 ай бұрын
May I ask a few questions? Have you had any issues with your '23 Special Edition? Also, how many miles have you put on it so far? And lastly, what is the drama of the '24 year? I was looking at both a '23 SE and a '24 Corsa. I like how easy they seem to maintain, especially the valve covers. The bikes have character and I like that, but I want reliability as well. Thank you!!!

Moto Guzzi is the hidden gem of the bike world. They are growing in popularity I feel. To me, they are better than Harley Davidson. Tons of character, yet great performing and comfortable and for way better prices typically. Moto Guzzi is making some strives with the v100 and stelvio and that new platform they have in those bikes. I wish I had kept my v7 850, im probably gonna end up picking another one up eventually. Im also wanting a Royal Enfield Super Meteor or Shotgun or the new blacked out Interceptor as well, but havent ridden that 650 motor yet to see how it compares, so Im looking forward to your thoughts and comparison between the v7 and the continental gt. Oh yeah the exhaust you are thinking of for the v7's that make them sound like they were designed by God Himself are agostini pipes, also mistral pipes sound really good as well.

totally agree on the fact that they are better than Harley, especially when you live outside the US. I just got myself the exact same special edition 8 days ago after a 12 years "pause". Previous one was the Dyna super glide custom 2005 (FXDCI) which I enjoyed very much till I suffered from a herniated discs. In short the HD weighs 100kg more the motor was a 1450 cc vs 850 cc which cost less overall both insurance and tax. This Guzzi is giving plenty of joy torque wise and the motor is singing, a bit like an Italian lady lots of charm and at times with character 😎 Best of all it costs all the price !

@kretonslovechild79998 ай бұрын
Totally agree! The shaft drive is a major reason they're the best value in the modern classic segment. That, and the fact they're built in Mandello del Lario and not some developing country halfway around the world. I'm fortunate to leave near one of their largest US dealers who also happen to be the best mc dealer I've ever dealt with. I think Guzzi is on the rise, and I expect to see it's dealer network expand accordingly.

The V7's can be shifted seamlessly with a certain technique and some practice. Preload the shifter, barely touch the clutch and then nudge the gearshift toward the next gear. The gearbox will pull itself into the next gear with hardly a sound. Very smooth transmissions, just work a little differently than most. There is no primary ratio reduction so they spin at crankshaft speeds thus behave differently.

But in retrospect you really don't need that much more power. Having more power takes away from the vintage purest feeling of a bike. So the V7 is a great bike and I really want one someday. In the States, it's rare to meet anyone under 60 who has even heard of the brand. I think a lot of people are scared off by the small dealer network, high cost of servicing compared to Japanese bikes, and the outdated perception that anything Italian made is inherently unreliable. When I bought my 2023 V7 Stone, I certainly knew there could be problems with it, but since that's true of any bike, I bought it anyway. 14,000 trouble-free miles later I have no regrets. If you are at all mechanically inclined, you can save yourself a boatload of money doing your own maintenance. I think MG will always be a niche brand, but I hope to see more younger people like me take the plunge and enjoy the very unique riding experience that these bikes have to offer.

I still own my 1990 Lemans 1000. 40k miles. Final drives need to be scrupulously looked after or they will self destruct. If you get an older one, make sure to remove and inspect the ring/pinion gears. Having them shimmed correctly is much trickier than you might think, but it’s vital for longevity. the engine has never been apart, but it will prob need valve guides soon. I’ve owned many classic triumphs, Morton’s, ducatis, guzzis, and VFR’s through the years, but this LM 1000 was the only one I kept.

Maaaate, this video almost brought tears to my eyes. Unfortunately I have recently sold both my Moto Guzzi’s. The v7 special blue, & this one, the v7 stone special edition. Both were fantabulastic, however I found the suspension very lacking on the roads in my neck of the woods. I considered changing both front & rear suspension to something that would cope better, however for some reason the rider triangle caused my left leg to cramp on Longer rides. Of course there was nothing I could do to address this. I lost a ridiculous amount of money but I felt I didn’t have a choice. I have gone back to a Harley Ultra Limited Tobacco fade & have kept my Royal Enfields, G.T Continental & Interceptor 120 anniversary models. Selling the Guzzi’s absolutely broke my heart. Those V7's are about the only thing I would consider trading my W800 on. They are a "real" bike for the "real" world. A mate of mine has a now very old T5 with 200k miles on the original bores and bottom end, and it is still going strong. They go forever. Electricals can be a little bit interesting, however. That said, you can service these things with only a few basic tools and in no time at all. Screw and lock nut valve adjustment is hard to beat. Yes, the top end rattles, get used to it. If it doesn't, you're in trouble. The shaft drive is bullet proof and saves you money and it saves you time cleaning. This is just about as ideal as a bike gets, in my mind.

Bang for buck can’t beat the Guzzi V7. They are a real surprise and don’t half shift when you want to make progress. Massive tank and economic on the fuel figures. Yes they cost more than an Enfield but they are so much more powerful it’s really noticeable. Compared to the Triumph speed twin they will give it a good run for the money and beat it on price. I think they will get a lot of customers in the future. When I’m out on mine there’s always a lot of interest in it.

When the price is right I'll get a special for sure. Either the grey one you reviewed earlier or the older deep blue model. My wife wants it too so I have no issues there!

@@MrDarcy-OlMan Just dropped a good chunk of cash on the NT1100 for touring europe so it's going to take a while till I financially recover lol BTW the exhausts you were thinking of were either from Mistral or Agostini (or maybe zard?). They make MGs sing

I have a V85TT, lots of rumble and sold, and I am loving it, my only concern here in DK is the lack of dealernet and the poor support from the factory, And I understand, unfortunately that is the case in many countries, as a consequence of that I always have a Japanese workhorse standing next to it (I need a working bike everyday) if Moto Guzzi get there costumer support on the right track they are on to a winner 🙂👍

I love Guzzi and Royal Enfield, I have a 23' Silver Stripe V7 850 Special and a 22' InterContinental😆in Sunset Strip. I hope you get a Guzzi. 😎

Ok im going to say it as in every video of this particular model of V7 no one does….only this model V7 has these arrow exhaust systems on, which only moto Guzzi sell, £1800 if memory serves which isent reflected in the RRP as the corsa has standard cans, which gives you an additional 3 torque & 1.5 hp & a different map in the ecm not an aftermarket flash. An extra 3 torque With a claimed flatter torque curve which comes in sooner then the other models of V7 is just awesome! How much would you pay in aftermarket parts and tuning for that! Ok you don’t get the extra lovely noise of an aftermarket can but I’ll live with that. Thanks for the freebie MG……. Metallic gloss blk paint too 🤩.

I took a demo ride on a Stone SE a couple weeks ago. Sounds fantastic with those Arrow cans. Unfortunately, at 6'7", I feel a bit "bear on a roller skate" on it.

Two years ago I was looking for a replacement for my '02 Sportster. It was a toss up between the Guzzi, RE Int and the Bonnie. The Bonnie won by default because a beautiful one came up for sale on Craigslist 30 miles away. None of the three are common near here (nearest dealers are: Triumph - 50miles, Enfield - 70miles and Guzzi - 100miles). Still haven't been near a Guzzi or any of the REs but absolutely love the Bonnie.

I wish there was again in production a v7 in chrome. As a mr clean owner, that would be a great match

Sadly I’m unable to ride at the moment but I’ve already decided when I get back to riding the V7 is my next bike. My dilemma is that the Special looks stunning but I’ve no love for all the chrome and especially the extra faff of tubed wheels. I had a front puncture on a BMW F800GS many years ago and that was as scary as it gets, plus you can’t plug the tyre and go, but the off centre LCD dash and the matt paint options on the Stone don’t do it for me. The fact there’s only a £400 difference is making me lean to heart vs head and the Special - in either colour they look stunning and I’ve had a Guzzi before and loved the character. I still can’t believe a made in Mandello del Lario bike that is the only midrange bike with a shaft is only £8,600. Beautiful bike.

I was close to pulling the trigger on a V7 a few months ago. The local dealer discussed what I wanted and suggested I would find the limits too quickly. I bought a Tuono 660 factory instead - beautiful to look at and a great bike to ride. Why aren’t there more of those on the road too? The Moto Guzzi competes with the Boneville and Royal Enfield, but not as many dealers and a reputation for reliability issues, same as the Aprilia which is why there are fewer of them around. It’s great to be different though. 😊

Aprilia goes for a totally different kind of biker than Moto Guzzi, But since both brand belong to the same company it all goes in the Piaggio group pocket 😎
@johnk78148 ай бұрын
I haven't seen them on the road around here in the US or for that fact another Interceptor other than mine😁 but in the dealer. I like the double clocks over that digital one on that V7, at least they could have put it in the center for god sake.

V7s are great bikes if max horsepower isn't a factor - laid-back character while fast enough for most roads this side of an autobahn. I've put just over 4k on mine and the engine's loosened up nicely while the gearchange is a bit smoother. I like the V7 so much I picked up a V100 Mandello S a couple of weeks back, still full of Guzzi character but a lot more grunt while still handling beautifully.
