Motorola was the first phone to avoid headphone jack due to Moto Z (1st Generation) as it's a 5.1 MM thin,one of the most strongest and durable phone. Check jerryrigeverything Moto Z test video, you will be amazed about it. Even Motorola is providing free 3.5mm to usb 3 cable. Still using super AMOLED. Still using stock android with great tweaks to the os. Still the slightest phone. Still the strongest phone. Still the durable phone. Still the long lasting phone. Most of the Motorola phones won't break due to daily routine of dropping the phone. Only a genuine Motorola user can experience the greatness of the phones, tragically present generation is addicted to fake selfies and megapixel madness but if you take a selfie or a normal photo you can see that it takes natural photos with realistic images but not over saturated exaggerated selfies or fake videos of photos. Motorola screens are also true to life displays like IMAX screens. Only Motorola phones can survive casual and regular hard drops. Sadly now Motorola is in the hands of Lenovo. But Motorola has it's individual team to work for themselves. Lenovo is a producer only. Vivo, oppo and one plus are from BBK. Only Motorola is an individual company came with many inventions and innovations. If you say oppo, Vivo, one plus, Huawei, lg etc comes with great cameras! They aeeymade by Sony. Motorola always worked hard on giving the best user experience. If you buy a mid range Motorola it can compete with any flagship phones of other phones in user experience and fast processing. Unfortunately people rely only on benchmark numbers. Other brand flagship phones are like a sprinter running in Olympics but Motorola is like s 10KM Marathon runner, works efficiently with consistency. My comment is not called fan based comment, it's called USER EXPERIENCE.

I have the z2 play and it is amazing phone...I switched to this after years with Samsung flagships and I couldn't be happier...if your on the fence, try the z2 play...the white and gold model is beautiful imo...but I'm not a fan of curved screens and bezels aren't an issue...fast and snappy

Patrick Shores ... You have to remember that flagship phones cost like +$800. Everyone wants to bring up OnePlus 6 but I can tell you that it has plenty cons. The Moto z3 and Motorola One Power are far cheaper than the "real flagship" phones so you have to comprise when one is paying like under $500 and not expect same flagship features. There is nothing wrong at all with the 636 or 835 processor.

I switched from the pixel XL and love my phone . I have just about all the mods and I'm glad i can still use them . They weren't cheap to buy . I have the projector gamepad and speaker . I just ordered the z3 yesterday . I was an iPhone person for the longest time and Im now a motor person . The price is decent and it's a good phone for the money heck even if it cost more I'd probably still but one .

Imran VP it's a plastic screen. And originally is was designed to be user replaceable. But Motorola decided against it. Scratch resistance is much more useful for regular use.

Got my Z3 Play, yesterday, and I have to say, I am kinda shocked. IMHO it is a big design fail, with the power button on the left side! And it is the same with the Z3. You said, you like the set-up. Maybe I'm doing sth. wrong. Whenever I use it with the jbl speaker mod and set it down or change volume, the phone turns on and off. Even worse with projector when projecting on the ceiling. I accidentally rebooted the phone. I would love to see your opinion on that. I do think of sending it back. It is just so frustrating, besides all the other shortcomings I have to accept when upgrading from a Moto Z Play. cR

Just got the Moto Z3 as a gift. I am I-Pad literate, so I am trying to work with this phone in a similar fashion. I do resent that the Androids don’t have that round Home button that I-pads have. I am moving from a flip phone, so I will be entering my Contacts information manually. I found Sound under Settings to change the volume of the Alerts and Ring. How do I change the general Ringtone? Secondly, can I Silence this phone by pressing the Volume Down button if it rings in a store, doctor’s office, etc.? Can I dial by voice once I input my Contacts? How?

I think a quick look at sales figures for the Play editions verses the Z and Z-Force editions answers the flagship question. Motorola wasn't having much success selling top tier flagships. I see a ton of Plays, and not in the hands of mod users. I see them in the hands of older people and other people who see their smartphone as a tool, not a fashion accessory. I understand people who use their phones as substitute computers, or who are hard-core gamers, or bloggers or other "power users" who need the fastest phone with the most memory available. But a lot of people just don't need that in a phone. And at Verizon, the Z3 is really the only true mid-tier phone they are selling. Yes, its boring, though I expected the same 5.5 inch display, so props for changing that! And that's ok. I think the 5K thing is just a testbed for the Moto Z4, which, if its really useful at all, will have it baked in. At that point, Moto may offer a true flagship with a new and contemporary design language. And if so, good for them! But, I hope they've learned a little with this Z model and remember to offer a Play version with a sub $500 price point. I think that's were they can make the most money. As for this phone? I might buy one next year when they become more available second-hand or the prices drop at Verizon a bit more. My G5 is getting long in the tooth and has a crack.

It will be available on other networks. Many phone companies do this with different carriers. Like the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active, that was for AT&T only at 1st. Then it went to others. All phone companies and carriers do this. They make a deal that last until a certain time. The carrier tries bringing in new customers that way. Once the deal between the two is up, usually months later. Another carrier gets it and sells it at full retail. Meanwhile that orginal carrier is now selling it much less. It benefits both cellphone company and carrier. It's a marketing/demand scam basically. Make you think you can only get the phone you want at X. So you go there and are stuck with X as your provider. Months later your friend goes to one of all the other carriers that now sells that phone, pays full retail on a phone that carrier markets as new, it's not, almost a year old really. Guess what happens a month after that? That cellphone company comes out with the new generation of that phone. The process repeats itself. It's a way to keep selling that phone at full retail until the next generation.

I think I prefer the Moto Z3 play over the Moto Z3 because 1) it will be more battery efficient with the 636 processor, 2) Extra battery power with the free battery mod, 3) came with free Alexa speaker mod during the promotion and 4) unlocked. Im sure a Moto Z3 Play sale is coming black friday. My other option is Motorola One Power. Tough decision.

topgeartim ... Do you think it will get longer screen on time hours over 636? I easily get +10 hours screen on time hours over 3 days with my battery king Moto Z Play (625 processor). I think the Moto Z3 will be better battery efficient than Moto z2 force because being smaller screen and being 1080p. I expect it to run faster than Moto z2 force (quad HD). I heard the 636 processor was more efficient than the 626 processor of Moto z2 play.

Ive always loved Motorola phones starting back from the RAZR and SLVR models then to the Droid lineup. I kinda drifted away and started using iPhones for the last few years and just recently got fed up with Apple and all the overpricing and hype and got myself a Motorola z2 force and wow I'm glad I did. I will not be going back to iPhones. Especially now since they are now going for over $1k !! No way in hell am I spending that kind of money on a phone.

I like this phone. Would be a prime candidate for an upgrade for people who already have a first gen Moto Z and a few mods. Shame it's.a Verizon exclusive. Motorola have a weird gap in their lineup now, they have nothing to offer people who don't want a 600 series SD chipset and would like a more modern 18:9 bezelless display.

I just bought it at Verizon online for $240. It's a smoking deal for that price. I also got the JBL mod speaker and it's one excellent speaker. No real big complaints here. As I'm typing I'm able to get reception in a difficult area I like the lgv30 which I really really really wanted but it didn't get reception where I'm typing.
