I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle kzbin.infoUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.

We were out on our favorite fireroad and came on a tree across the road. My brother-in-law said no problem and whipped out his chain saw. 50 pulls later he gave up, 50 pulls later I gave up. He pulled another 50 times and finally it started. If we had this Milwaukee, we would have been long gone up the trail. I know it isn't a gas saw as I own 3 large Stihl saws that can drop a 4 foot diameter tree without blinking and they have their purpose. This Milwaukee would make trail clearing a breeze instead of a chore. Yes, it is better than gas because of the fingertip start/run. I'm getting one.

i laughed at battery powered tools when they first came out but not anymore. i flip houses and we use ALL battery tools except a table saw, a large compound radial arm saw and a wood planer. all hand tools are battery. we do a lot of outside work also like decks, landscaping, etc. and i'm right now comparing battery chain saws. we already have battery blowers and vacuums. you can't beat battery tools for being quiet in residential areas, early in the morning, late at night and weekend work. ALSO, i built a portable "charging unit" that's in my pick-up consisting of a large solar panel and a 110v converter which has a couple of battery chargers plugged in. we just leave the extra batteries charging all the time. i would not use a battery chain saw if i was cutting large trees or in the firewood business but for 90% of work around a house or small acreage or for any kind of remolding job, you can't bet the batteries. finally, i can't even name the number of small gas tools i've had that only work for a short time and then you can't get them started. i have no interest in pulling a cord for 15 minutes straight anymore just to complete a task. AND - with the ethanol blended gas in Pennsylvania, you CAN NOT leave gas in small tools now!! you have to drain all this gas out if you're going to store the tool for more than a couple weeks. if you don't you're taking the carb apart or paying someone to get the damn thing running again.

@@pamancave1150 Not everyone needs a professional logging saw for designed for tree felling at the commercial scale. But, when you own acreage, a farm, or a ranch you need a chainsaw sometimes, but not all day, not every day, not all the time. This Milwaukee saw looks like a proven performer for someone who is a part-time saw user, but might sometimes need to cut through some decent size trees (ex: storm puts a couple of trees down across the driveway). The bonus here is it's basically a zero-maintenance machine for something you can put on the shelf and come back to later when you need it. I have some Stihl equipment, and it's great and all, but you still need to do more to maintain and keep a gas engine ready to go than you do to keep an electric motor ready to go.

I have an honest question. I am a Milwaukee guy myself, their products are great. What I do want to know is this. How is the bar Oiler? Does it oil enough? Secondly does it leak when not in use? I absolutely hate that when I saw leaks bar oil when sitting. The only saws I’ve owned that DONT leak at all is my Stihl saws. I have echo, husky, Remington and Stihl. My echo saws leak very little but they do leak, both huskys leak, the Remington leaks a lot and the Stihl saws don’t leak a drop.

The oiler puts out plenty of.oil, mine has not leaked a drop while stored in my Jeep. I also hate when it leaks, the Harbor freight saws leaked so I'd put an old Jean pants leg folded up under the saw in it bag. Don't want all that out in my wranglers rug!!! Due to economic issues I ended up buying a used set of the M18's and was totally impressed. Definitely a step up from the D's. Love the fuel gage , that was worth it right there as no more guessing about the charge. Better feel, smoother, quieter and the 12volt Hackzall is the best thing since sliced cheese so not surprised about the chainsaw. That's my next tool for sure as it always seems to be a pita to dig out the gas saw for just a few cuts and then wonder whether it will start or not. When charging 1st use charge led was red took battery off put back on after a little over an hour still red left a couple more hours still red took off again checked battery level - all bars put back on immediately green. Wondering if I have a bad charger or battery. Doesn't seem like proper charge indicating. I was also thinking bar was same as my Hitachi 40cc though shocked when I saw it - Hitachi is 18". Can't try out yet due to thunderstorms will probably have time again in a few days. Also don't have time for a few days to exchange hopefully w/ the missing paperwork... Worried about the charger/battery possible issue if it's not norm for 1st use. W/ ultra low existing charge. Haven't any Milwaukee battery tool experience to compare to. End of last year went with the 5amp 18v makitas (newest versions also.. Not the old models on clearance) after a lot of research when they had super sales and was considering Milwaukee but there were no good deals when I was looking... There were a few months later though but I had already been using the makitas and thought they were wonderful compared to the dewaults I use to have and any of what I still had. When this saw and the potential for new Gen of 12amp coming out I was a little disappointed I went w/ different system.

So I’m going to be critical looks like the saw runs well but a 14# saw with a 16 inch bar most people that run that for firewood will hate the extra weight my echo Timberwolf with a laminate steel bar weighs in at 12 pounds has a metal case for durability and had a a 59cc engine. Love Milwaukee tools but this is a tool for a home owner that just needs to trim the occasional tree or medium size tree

Awesome results. From the research I've done and information that Ive gathered, people in the know(Loggers Arborists etc) claim that the Milwaukee 16 inch Lithium battery chain saw is the overall best 16 inch cordless electric chainsaw out there. I'd like to see,an 18 or 20 inch version available. Prior to hearing this new discovery of information I was looking at the 16 inch Dewalt or the 18 inch Lowes Kobalt or Greenworks Pro. Do you have any experience with those or other cordless electric chainsaws .
@MotoCheez5 жыл бұрын
18 or 20 would be nice. I’m sure you could fit one easily and it would handle it. Only 2 other saws if tested. The harbor freight saw and Ryobi Milwaukee still the best.
@nathanwest23045 жыл бұрын
fairly impressive, for a cordless device that is keep in mind that the best cordless chainsaws can barely compete with midrange gas powered saws at a higher price these days you can get a 50cc chainsaw for 50 bucks on amazon for 320 bucks you get a chinese clone of the Stihl MS660 with 92cc at, one heck of a beast that no cordless chainsaw can hope to compete with
@MotoCheez5 жыл бұрын
That's true, but storing gas saws in your vehicle and hoping they start when you need them (wrangler offroading) I've had my share of stinky gas and saws not starting after sitting a few months. I'll never go back to gas for this application.
@nathanwest23045 жыл бұрын
@@MotoCheez for that application battery powered saws clearly have an edge. I actually have a cheap cordless saw. Just top off the bar oil, when ever you need it just recharge the battery and start it up, a day or several months in storage makes no difference

See AvE's review of this same product, he has a different take on it ( and more technical and critical on account of not being given the product by the manufacturer.) This is a useful review though because you get to see how the unit performs in reality. It is expensive though and if you need a chainsaw for your work you'd better have a few spare batteries on hand if you buy this one or, buy a petrol chainsaw which will go all day and last for years if properly maintained-IMHO.

Someone needs to show him how to use a chainsaw. If that was a gas one that got coughed he would get pulled into the wood. There’s a reason for the bucking teeth. Easy way to break a chainsaw holding it that far away from the wood.
@dougdiamond57746 жыл бұрын
I buck for a living, used to fall, have been using saws for over 20 years and I'm sorry to say, you don't know what you are talking about. The only time you use the dawgs, is on the really big stuff where you need the extra leverage to get though. I've never broken a saw by not using the dawgs. You want to know where your tip is at all times, so you don't rock your saw, or cut something you don't want to. Many times you either have a log on the ground, or up against another log you don't want to cut. Tip control is essential and everytime I see someone cutting something small, with half the bar hanging out the other side, I know they are an amature. If you are needing to constantly use the extra leverage the dawgs provide, you need to learn how to sharpen your saw better.
@MotoCheez6 жыл бұрын

My smallest Stihl saw (MS 261 C-M) runs circles around every single battery saw people have brought around me. Both the dewalts, 40v and 60, the Kobalt, Ego, and Echo. Although the echo did well for a battery saw. Now obviously, if we are talking something like a husky 372 or Stihl MS 461 there is no comparison. And for really small quick stuff I use my climbing saw (MS 201T)

If you sharpen your chain with every fill up it takes about 5 minutes for a 24" bar. This 16" even faster but battery power don't last as long so you can skip sharpening unless you like hitting dirt.

Then you can say its better than the gas saws.

I never said it would replace a professional saw, if you see it says a .40cc saw. And yes, it's better than a limb .35 saw in many ways. I have professional Husqvarna XP saws. Is it better than those? No way, and I never claimed it was either.

@@MotoCheez Cool not trying to say that DeWalt is better here just saying these chainsaws are not up to par for proffesional use. And I am no saying tree harvesting (that is out of question) More like Timber framing. AvE pretty much took both of them apart they have good electrical motors but the tensioning mechanisms and blade connection to the saw is well flimsy and the price is too high for occasional use or home use. I wonder if anyone has that battery powered Husquarna if they any good.
