I had my elbow down once. Cost me about $1500 to fix my gixxer. LOL

Long gone are the impressive days of knee downs. I think this season we're going to see an increase in elbow sliders for consumers. Next year; helmet slider!

elbow down is more for gp bikes. Street bikes may be dangerous because you know... Motogp bikes has the better chassi, electronics and suspension and tires, as paul said. Its all about the evolution of the bike . I dont believe that people will be able to do it consistent in a street legal bike inside a track without fail.
@tracknoob24810 жыл бұрын
I'll tell you how to get elbow down. (Do this only on the track you try this on the street and hurt yourself that's on you.) 1) Run race slicks, You will never pull this off on street tires unless you are hanging off the bike awkwardly just to get elbow down. Yes I have seen people do this, it looks stupid not cool. On a street tire you're lucky to get 52 -54 degrees of lean angle. If you push past that you're on your ass. Remember that. 2) Be fast, I'm dead serious, unless you are fast you're not getting elbow down. (When I say be fast, I mean actually fast. Like you are with in 1 or 2 seconds of the lap record for your bike class FAST. Not ("Oh yeah I pin the throttle on the highway all the time bro." fast >__>) Cory Call is an american racer that comes to mind. I remember seeing him go through a turn elbow down with his hand on his helmet like he was bored. That was back in 2010 (If you barley touch knee down, you will hurt yourself going for elbow.) 3) Focus on riding, much like getting knee down it is a result not an outcome. 4) keep in mind the GP bikes can hit 64 degrees of lean angle. They do elbow down because the bikes are pretty much on the grown at apex and the knee is pulled in to make the turn, they use elbow down as a gauge to know how close they are to the limit. (If you're bike is at 64 degrees of lean angle you're currently in the middle of a lowside crash wondering what the hell happened to you.) You can also use the elbow to push the bike back up when you feel the bike slip. But remember what Happened to Marco Simoncelli it can go wrong.
@Runyamouth9 жыл бұрын
yeah i'd rather let the bike crash then try save it and end up like simoncelli. Good explanation by the way!
@thenovalabs Жыл бұрын
Good explanation but still Ive seen elbow down in a good way on a cbr600 without slicks. It is achievable but not realistic. Its my next goal though
@Showmetheevidence-7 жыл бұрын
It’s really about the incredible tyre and suspension development which = mad lean angles! So riders have adapted.

@RiderZer010 жыл бұрын
Oh I know but no saw it was worth doing as a standard until marquez went undefeated mainly because of his cornering and him having the lowest angle on his turns
@1MexJ10 жыл бұрын
It was Bradl who made it popular. It started with him in Moto2 and then Pol and Marc started doing it. Bradl was the first to do it in MotoGP as well. He had some spectacular shots in Qatar where his titanium elbow pad was making sparks on the ground.
@MrDjambronk8 жыл бұрын
Duh! of course marquez not invent that thing.. the point is marquez do elbow down when every other rider doesn't.. now that's become popular again

It’s funny I’ll get my bike to 55° 58° and I won’t even have a knee on the ground. I’m more apt to have my foot on the ground sliding or along. I just don’t hang off the bike that far and don’t just try to hit the ground I’m more concerned with making a nice smooth arc in the turn . And I’ll have both tires sliding at about 60°
@ranggafahmi84796 жыл бұрын
Motogp bikes have special made chassis, suspension, and tires. Really hard to replicate them with road bikes
@juancarrera6576 жыл бұрын
rangga fahmi Aprilla RSV4 RF Closest thing for $25,000 That you’re going to fine that’s close to a MotoGP bike. Moto GP bikes or custom build bike with prototype parts and this trickle down into road bikes . Modern day rode bikes or incredible machines.
@martynflynn83686 жыл бұрын
Yes, I could do the same on my 1999 carbed R6. Without hanging off or getting my knee down I could get a lean of 55 to 60 degrees no problem (no chicken strips at all).

their bikes and suspension are way different from stock bikes. it's not just tires or rider skill. this guy or marquez can't get elbow down on a stock gixxer off the factory line. i.e motoGP suspensions cost $37k. insane precision.
