Sean, I have no idea if you will see this comment, as it it a response to an 8 month old video, but I wanted to sincerely thank you for the 3 hours or so you spent with myself and my lad Matt sorting my / our "Gear" out last Friday, not least of which was the Neotec 2 - a helmet that really should not fit me - but is MILES better than the Schuberth - even in the 2XL size that I tried, which still crushed my temple and STILL would not allow operation of the tinted visor - when ON my head. As you know, it was still like wearing a vice on my swede. I cannot express how much your "Let's try a Shoei" comment, shifted the Earth's axis by a gazzillionth of a degree. It's awesome mate - thank you. It fits perfectly. So after an AGV and a Schuberth, I NOW have the right helmet. I am back in Cairo now, but I massively appreciate your help, enthusiasm and care in our 3 hour visit, and I was seriously gutted when you helped us down to the car with the kit and I popped in the loo as you and Matt loaded the car, and when I popped my head back in the shop, you were not there, assumed you were still outside - and the door clicked behind me. Clearly I did not want to "Buzz" again. I emailed Steve on Friday night to tell you all of this. We did see Chris and Sarah whizzing by whilst we were outside waiting, and smiled to both - please give them our best regards. Said it before - will say it again - the Motolegends business model is the best I have ever seen. I am VP Operations of 4 steel making plants - so I do not say this lightly. Cheers guys. Paul

I bought one of these from Motolegends earlier this year. It's the best helmet I've ever had. It's a brilliant fit, very well made, and does the job excellently.

I got my neotec 2 from motolegends when I returned to riding. Sean did a great job helping ensure it fitted perfectly, fitting the sena for me etc. I love this helmet and feel very confident that it is protecting my head appropriately. You really can’t justify cutting costs on anything which is there to protect your head. Strongly recommend the helmet and if you can make it to Guildford motolegends service is second to none.

If you don't compare it with other helmets then your opinion is should we say, nearly useless.

Sean, this is the best desktop helmet review I’ve ever seen. Some riders really have trouble finding a helmet that fits them properly. Shoei’s custom fit system should be copied by other helmet manufacturers. I really like that you were able to take the Neotec 2 helmet on and off without having to remove your glasses. Next time I’m in the market for a helmet, I’ll look into this one even though it is expensive and comparitively heavy. Cheers from Australia.

I bought a pair of Shoei RF1400 full face helmets last summer for my wife and I. We love them, however I am getting ready to purchase a Neotec 2 for solo long distance riding so I can drink coffee or water while riding. Shoei gives me the best fit, hands down

Great video review and detailed explanation of this helmet. I'm a few years into my caberg Duke 2 now with the basic Just Speak S Comms kit.. I'm looking at the Shoei Neotech 2 with SRL Comms or the new Schuberth C5 with the Comms kit at present.

Bought this helmet for my husband, he wears it for 3hrs a day (motorway miles), and I'd like to thank Shaun and the Motolegends team for taking the time to ensure it was bought with the right pads, custom fit. He loves this lid and when your spending lots of money its worth the extra paying for the expertise of the Motolegends rather than saving a few quid online and buying ill fitting kit.

Thanks for my lid, I do love it. We added 3M reflective strips, to the Excursion TC3 (Neon Yellow) strategically placed so they are only seen in headlights. Remember you need to be seen if you ever come off your ride too. Don't go stealth thinking that your bike has lights, you don't!! Cheers Shaun and Chris for all your help, you've saved me a fortune.

I ride with people with cardo - will a Packtalk fit on the left ? (I realise it will be further back than usual due to the flip)

Weight matters, it adds to rotational inertia if you get a glancing blow, causing your neck to twist and then you are dead; also if you hit something with your body that stops forward motion and your head is free to continue in motion then the heavy helmet will make it harder to stop the motion of your head, so your neck gets damaged. Sadly the comfort lining rots in a very short time, and a new lining is stupidly expensive if you can get one Police are on a tight budget, the fact that they use them just means that they got a whole load of helmets cheap

Is the buckle allowed for trackdays? In fact, is a flip-up lid allowed for trackdays?
@Motolegends4 жыл бұрын
Buckle is fine. Neotec is not ACU approved so potentially not acceptable on track days.

I realize this review is three years old but I recently bought a Neotec 2 and it is indeed top quality. However, it is very noisy ! I've installed thicker cheek pads, even had a Shoei expert do a personal fitting and check my helmet for faults, all to no avail... I guess Shoei's not the brand for me.

Thank you, Mr. P, for your comment. My general observation would be that your experience potentially highlights the dangers of buying a high-end helmet like this without the benefit of a proper consultation and fitting. I know you bought the helmet from us, but if you had come to the shop there’s a good chance that you would not be experiencing the problems you currently are. I’ll come back to the venting, but if you had visited us we would have changed any cheekpads and headliners for free. We would also have fitted the comms. for free. It takes us between five and ten minutes, and we would then have made sure that we ran through how to use it, that you knew how to Bluetooth it to your phone and so on. If someone has very big hands we might recommend the handlebar remote because, yes, the buttons are a bit small. Don’t really agree about fiddly cheekpads, however. They take me 15 seconds per side, whereas on a Schuberth it’s at least a five minute job; per side! But your main issue is venting, and what you need to understand is that you have bought one of the quietest helmets on the market. It’s quiet because it is so well sealed. Part of that is down to the fact that it’s a flip-lid helmet. Flip lids fit far more tightly around the neck than full-face helmets do. But, in addition, the Neotec also has noise isolator flaps around the neck, an extra wide chin strap and a substantial chin curtain, all of which are designed to provide a barrier to incoming air. Now, if air can’t get in, it stands to reason that it’s also going to be difficult for air to get out. And if hot moist air cannot escape from the helmet you can experience misting. This having been said, it is very rare indeed for a combination of the twin vents and the 120 Pinlock not to be able to cope with the build up of moist air. And I’ve never heard of anybody having an issue in good weather. Yet there are potential solutions, should there be a problem. Shoei offers perforated cheekpads and a perforated chin curtain both of which allow air to escape more freely from the helmet. In the box you also get a nose guard that helps direct breath downwards out of the helmet. Ultimately, however, the fit is still the crucial consideration. If the helmet is in any way too small, and squeezes the cheeks too much then this can have the effect of bringing blood to the surface of the skin. This is manifested as heat, and precipitates sweating. In these circumstances, you might just be generating too much heat and moisture, and the Pinlock might not be able to cope. Without seeing you in the helmet, it is difficult to comment. But there is certainly a scenario where, had you come to see us, we might not have recommended the Shoei, or perhaps not even a flip-lid at all. Potentially, the rounder shape of a Schuberth might have worked better for you. I’m sorry your experiences with the Shoei have not been positive, but we stand by our assertion that this is the best-made, most versatile helmet you can buy. We have hundreds of customers who love theirs, but like shoes, gloves and most other items of clothing the fit is all important. If you want to get these things right, go to a decent shop. The problem, frankly, is that most shops don’t care or even understand the issues. We do, but I appreciate that we’re a long way from Lincoln!

@@motolegends2606 Yes way too far to travel I can't stand London area so would never travel there. As for experience on helmets I brought a evo nolan helmet from you as it was recommended from your guy in a youtube video. But this helmet was bascally pants. Then I look at another video of the Neotec 2 from you guys and still disapointed from the price paid! The vents do not do a huge amount and reviews on youtube do pick up on this. I do not use the pinlok anymore as I find it distorts my vision as I'm a glasses wearer. Future purc hases will from now on be at my local bike shop to stop this from happening again. my helmet is going to be on ebay as I'm that disapointed in it. cannot justify spending more money on a handlebar switch for the intercom. And to top it all off I have this on your finance! As for the cheek pads it was the neck guard so apologies for that. Theis still does not fit right as it keeps coming out. a pain in the arze to clip it in.

@@HairlessBiker I had the Pinlock, on my lid, fitted by @Motolegends over 6 months and 17000miles ago and have not needed to readjust. There is a knack to it granted, but a well fitted Pinlock is definitely preferable to intermittent fogging. If you are ever near Motorcycle live there is always a Pinlock stand that will help adjust and your insert lens to the proper fitting. Whilst this info may be too little too late, I hope it may assist others.
