What’s life aboard like as we get up before the sun and shove off at first light for a full day on the water, much of it with no land in sight? What’s the route like from Marathon in the Florida Keys to Naples along the Gulf Coast? Come along and experience it for yourself! Plus we’ll show you docking in real time using our Yacht Controller. And you’re not going to believe what the Admiral’s got cooking in the galley while we’re underway. No PB&J here (not that there’s anything wrong with that)!
We aim to give you a a feel for life aboard for us and hope you enjoy it, perhaps relate to it or maybe even learn a thing or two. But it's simply our story. Nothing more, nothing less.
Here's the link to the recipe for our fantastic lunch that we featured:
myoloh.com/seefare-the-admira...
Here's the link for info about our Marker Minder mentioned in the video:
myoloh.com/oloh-gear-our-favo...
And what about that arrival cocktail? That's an OLOH-Rita (Guava Margarita). You'll find the recipe in the libations section on our website: myoloh.com/

Another home-run of a video! Boaters like myself in 24ft crafts greatly appreciate the common curtesy from other boaters, especially the bigger boats when out on the water. It seems to be harder to find these traits in captains anymore.
@OLOH

We really appreciate that you appreciate that. When we had our smaller boats we were always thankful but surprised when an oncoming bigger boat would back down. We appreciate it now as well but sadly, depending on where we're cruising we've learned to often not expect it. We will always do the right thing because, well, it's the right thing. Cheers!

Wow, great production! Very nicely done, you guys look great and thank you for sharing. Enjoyed the first shot to the last, and the story in between! Can you show us around the marina? Is that the best place to stay when passing by? All The Best T-N-T
@OLOH
@OLOH 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Tom! That means so much coming from you guys. This particular marina is not setup as a transient marina for "bigger" boats in the winter season, so it's really not possible to stay there when just passing through the area for boats of any size with drafts more than around four feet. We'll shoot you a note with some more details. Hope your Crew is great!

You made docking look easy. Was that because a) your skills as a Captain or b) the Yacht Controller. Also, could you explain (maybe even part of a video) the functions of the YC and to what extent it helps you to control the boats movement? P.S. The Admiral sure made my mouth water with the detailed description (and appetizing look) of the lunch.
@OLOH
@OLOH 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Experience and a real understanding of how your boat responds to helm input in various conditions are definitely major factors when it comes to docking. For us, it's also about communication. Having Tim's eyes off the stern with the ability to easily relay distance and other info (hence the headsets) is invaluable. As far as the Yacht Controller, it is definitely an incredible tool for docking. You may have seen wing stations on large yachts which give the Captain helm control on the sides of the boat where visibility is much better for docking than being at controls inside and/or closer to the boat's centerline. In our case the YC provides control of our thrusters and allows us to put the engines in and out of gear in starboard and reverse. Those are the only controls we use when pulling in or out of a slip 99.9% of the time. So think of it as a "go anywhere" wing station. You can see our writeup on the Yacht Controller here: myoloh.com/oloh-gear-yacht-controller/

On the Ipad pro are you using wifi or cell service? or have you downloaded the maps? if wifi what are you using for the connections?
@OLOH
@OLOH 8 ай бұрын
Mad apologies for missing this! If it's still relevant, we had used a cellular connection on our iPad Pro up until recently. Now that we have an always reliable internet connection with Starlink, we have given up the cell plan on it and don't miss it one bit. That said, our charts are all preloaded and will work without a connection. We are also now using a Garmin bluetooth GPS receiver as the GPS on the iPad Pro, particularly when in our pilot house, has been notoriously unreliable.
