I have always loved Hatteras boats. They are so "comfort" oriented.

Nice. I guess if you're pottering around somewhere like the Caribbean/Bahamas in that you can hang about in far away spots for weeks, if not months, at a time with all of that space and all of those systems. It's literally like having a house by the sea. So you probably don't move that much - at least I don't think I would. I suspect a tank of gas would last me more than a year. And when I add up the cost of running my house, car, (much smaller) boats, plus holidays, the cost is comparable for, I suspect, a much more spectacular experience. Sure, there are other costs, but probably well worth it. The other day I saw another video of a guy on a 44ft DeFever trawler. Great condition, didn't cost that much, and still loads of space and systems. It's the width and multiple levels that makes the space add up. I've been looking into sailing boats over the past year, but the trawler option does look tempting for the kind of drifting and tinkering I think I'm likely to do. Thanks for the vid. It's got me pondering.

Wow, that is living while cruising

Just to play Debbie Downer...I would love to know the operational costs of a big power cruiser over a years worth of cruising. I think it would be one of things that is you have to ask what it costs, you can't afford it. Hard to beat the comfort of that big Hatty though.

I did the math in my head but paused the video to confirm on my calculator. 2,400 gallons at $5 is $12,000. To use a vehicle analogy, when you can afford a Porsche you don’t ask what the insurance costs.

Motor yachts make much more sense for living. Sailboats are good if you’re moving a lot.

I grew up on a Hatteras. They are great boats

That gas station bill though. After those 3,000 nm when the tanks are empty, it's $12,000 to fill 'er up. Yikes!

We have spent a lot of time doing the math as well. We do not pay for electricity~$200-300/month, heat-$100-200/month, or gasoline for vehicles-$400-500/month or house insurance-$5000/year or property taxes. The $12000 per year for fuel is a bargain when you think of all the other ways there are to spend your money.

At 4 dollars, 4.50 or 5 US dollars a gallon( don't know how that converts to liters per kilometer) that would be respectively 9,600, $10,800 or 12,000 US dollars to fillup with fuel at one time.

Hello Hatteras people. I’m from the outer banks of North Carolina and a proven through DNA a Hatteras Indian. I love your boat and I only have one recommendation. Please watch some videos of carnivore diet. Get rid of foods in a box or bag. You will add years to your enjoyment of this life. You’ll drift into good shape. Have a great day.

Ahhh. Yes we have grounded now a few times. We have all the equipment. Sometimes it’s because of shoaling or charts are wrong and other times it’s because we’ve judged wrong. 😁

Do people that can afford 58 ft boats like that hire staff on board....cleaning maids and /or chefs, etc?

The difference is a motor sailer is a house that wants to be a boat. A sailboat Is a boat that wants to be a house. I would love Convenience of a motor sailer What I cannot do is put that much fuel Pollutants into the planet.

You’re delusional and have been lied to. At 80,000 feet co2 dissipates and is broken down. Nitrogen also disipares it and it makes up 78% of air. The new diesels require nitrogen to break down the co2. Lastly fossil fuels are not fossils and they were given to us to be used and enjoy the play ground god gave us. They are constantly renewed. You’ll see. Stop watching the Zionist news.
