If you remove your oil cap and the oil is spitting out the oil cap while running the pcv is faulty should be a good suck on it
@MotorcarnutАй бұрын
It’s really hard to tell that way if you’re not familiar with cars

Someone says that you should have vacuum on that hole, someone says that you should feel air blowing through that hole. Can someone elaborate what is true?
@Motorcarnut24 күн бұрын
No vacuum from that hole, there is a diaphragm in there that holds vacuum if it’s ripped you will feel vacuum and that will indicate PCV valve is bad.
@tedjohnson645 ай бұрын
Great PCV failure video, but I’m a bit confused: where is the little hole to test for vacuum? Is it the round section of plastic with the black circle around it, on the right side of your pointer finger?
@Motorcarnut5 ай бұрын
Yes
@sweetandsour65212 ай бұрын
Very interesting what if you just replace the little diaphragm they sell them separately they pop on and off like a bottle cap
@Motorcarnut2 ай бұрын
You can try but sometimes other things fail on that PCV system and they are pretty cheap aftermarket
@bobsacamano1274Ай бұрын
Should the whole unit be replaced or just the diaphragm?
@MotorcarnutАй бұрын
I would replace the whole unit because more than the diaphragm can fail and you can get these pretty inexpensive on Amazon or Ebay for more peace of mind.

Thanks for the info - I went straight outside and checked it on my 2010 Tiguan - all good - no vacuum pull from that port - cheers - any chance of a transmission removal and rear seal video - 6 speed automatic ? - have you looked at 034 Sports rear seal - looks awesome over the factory seal - maybe even a lifetime fix 😂

Thanks for the comment! Yes that seal is the way to go for a permanent repair. Funny I just did a rear main seal but didn’t do a video. I have bolt engine and transmission out of the vehicle right now. I always get these cars and suv’s so I’ll try to make one soon.

Could this cause oil to leak into the ignition coil? Just changed my plugs, and the only one with any oil was #4, under the pcv valve. 2010 vw tiguan 2.0 tsi engine.
@MotorcarnutАй бұрын
No, sounds like the camshaft cover spark plugs holes are leaking and has to be resealed.
@JustDavid1328 ай бұрын
so i just did mine but every couple of seconds i can feel a bit of air being pushed out is that normal its not trying to suck my finger on the hole but i can feel a slight bit of air being pushed out also is it normal to have oil in the pipe going to the intake

No, it’s not supposed to have any air coming out of that hole. And sight oil is normal

It's one of them, yes.
@mcclenty78 ай бұрын
What if you replace it but it's still pulling air??
@Motorcarnut8 ай бұрын
What is pulling air? the new PCV valve? or is it still pulling to much vacuum?
@djsanse0315 ай бұрын
Hi! Would a faulty pcv valve on this car cause high oil consumption? No blue smoke from the exhaust…
@Motorcarnut5 ай бұрын
Absolutely
@djsanse0315 ай бұрын

I have terrible oil consumption, with no obvious leaks. No vacuum noticed on pcv valve. How likely is it that pcv valve is bad without vacuum?
@Motorcarnut2 ай бұрын
I’d say 50/50. The piston rings could be the cause, these direct injection engines get very carbon build up if not properly maintained.
