BMW X3 Side Mirror Cover Replacement Or Upgrade - Easy DIY - 2011-2014

Great video. I have a 2014 BMW X328i and the hinge pin of the exterior mirror was broken. I got a new hinge pin. I am preparing to do the job myself. I need to disconnect the wire that passes through the hinge pin (the wire from the car inside to the mirror assembly). Can I disconnect the wire to free the broken pin and install the new pin from the mirror assembly or I will have to disconnect the wire from the car door panel inside? Thanks.
