We recently added 2 2024 H3-45s to the fleet, the biggest change IMO is the automatic unloading of tag axle when wheel is turned more than 1 revolution. This can be an issue if youre going in and out of a steep driveway, you can easily scrape, and could get stuck. You gotta tell your guys to hold the tag load button for at least 5 seconds until you see the "lock & load" telltale on the dash. If the tag axle isn't loaded, none of the coach raising functions will raise the rear suspension, since it's unloaded. Refrence the operator's manual for more info.
@L-Taraval4 ай бұрын
I agree. We were surprised that the "raise tag" lever is isn't there anymore. There is a knob, but it's in the lower driver's compartment where you fill the washer fluid. Prevost could've simply moved it upward for us!

The fleet I've worked with have had the new Prevost H3-45 for almost a year, and drivers have been happy with the new H3-45, especially the small fans located at the emergency exit hatches that provide air circulation inside the bus. The only problem we encountered was that the baggage compartment sensor occasionally incorrectly reported that the baggage compartment door was not locked, but this no longer happened after the Prevost agent replaced the sensor. Today, there are four new H3-45s in the fleet, and over the next two years they will purchase nearly 26 new H3-45s to replace the aging Prevost in the fleet. The 2025 Prevost Passenger Coach is rumored to offer a 500-horsepower Volvo D13 engine, making it the most powerful MotorCoach available in North America Markets.

I even drove a GMC Deck & 1/2 4 speed but the best was a brand new 2003 H3 45. That bus had a Detroit tt series 60. That bus was a rocket ship on ten wheels lol. I miss driving motor coach too. The company i work for has a few of the 2024 models. Most drivers dislike the new safety noises (3 beep = distance, seat vibrate + low rumble = maintain lane, red dash +scream = too close & auto brake). Traffic is horrible where your cut off every 2 seconds so the passengers are constantly hearing the bus yelling at you. Our 24 models also have a loud wind noise that comes from the main door area at speeds above 50mph that we have yet to find the source. Other than those issues the 24 models are a nice upgrade.

For when these coaches get up in age and some will be purchased by people who convert them to RVs, they will appreciate tacking care of the release for the engine door. That foot pedal release for the steering wheel, Freightliner used to use that on class 8 trucks more than 10 years ago. They switched to a hand release lever up a little higher. I prefer it that way. Thanks for the video. Great info. 😊

Having been a former coach driver the first thing I see with the 2024 is that the entry looks much more like an MCI Renaissance coach entry with the spiral steps. Very appealing. With the overheads I know it would be a cost and time issue but could you install small rubbers “stoppers” to diminish the noise of them closing. Maybe an idea for Prevost for future coaches. Glad to see you back in the drivers seat. I enjoyed your china trip videos immensely. Thanks James. 😊

Hi James. Great review! Here are a few things about the 2024 that I consider drawbacks. Although I've been driving the 2024s for a few months now, I have issues with the following: 1. Overhead door banging shut, as others have mentioned. 2. The larger windshield wipers don't clear too well towards the tips. 3. I still, accidentally, tap the windshield stalk when I'm going for the Jake lever. I've also bumped into the windshield stalk when walking near the drivers seat. 4. The switch to change the interior light color is in the overhead bin and not on the dash. 5. No keyed ignition. 6. No "raise tag" lever/switch. 7. No switch for the exterior surround/perimeter lights Thanks again for a great review

The company I drive for has purchased maybe 10 of the 24s. I drove one this past weekend. Fit and finish is lousy on this one - luggage compartment doors - some not flush - ripples in roof panels. Interior rattles, squeaks, creaks (this bus only had 55k miles) - reminded me of sounds inside an older transit bus I drove. Placement of hvac controls requires the driver to look down and to the right - safety issue. I’ve had passengers yell when they closed the luggage bins and they slammed shut - sounded like a gunshot.

You should also note the large cup holder on the floor to the right side of the driver seat. Stop letting those parcel rack doors slam. Hold onto it all the way down. They are actually quite nice. I absolutely love the Prevost H345s. They provide a much better ride than the MCI. It takes great skill to provide a smooth comfortable ride in a Prevost, and when done correctly, It is no reason why Prevost is the best coach on the road. The ‘24 model overhead bin will be an issue. We have Volvo 9700s with closed overhead bins. The gas struts on 2 buses have all failed so they don’t stay up. Also, because they don’t latch, they swing open and bang around while moving in parking lots or over rough patches of road. So do these actually have a key fob or lock? Was any thought given to spec that stupid automated manual transmission? Can’t go wrong with a nice smooth ALLISON. Can airhorns be specd? I like the low speed engine rumble as you accelerate from a stop. Don’t like the black color on the parking brake release. I am of the opinion it should still remain the traditional red or yellow. I also don’t like the kneecap location. Not sure that reverting back to metal overhead cabinet doors with their associated BANG! when closing is an improvement. That is really annoying and what holds them closed in the event of a real rough ride or even upset? For some reason I was expecting the passenger cabin to look and feel more upscale and plush. Maybe it’s the lack of some additional cheerful colors to brighten up the insides. I am really hard pressed to see any difference on the shape of the front end other than the mirrors, clearance lights and style of the headlights. It appears you have governed your bus top speed to 71 or 72 mph. Do you allow the transmission to use all its gears or have locked out one or two of the top gears? I am thinking there was a pretty big price jump between the model year 23 and 24 buses. Because inflation, not increased content.

Yes we do govern our coaches to 70 for cruise and 71 for manual pedal to the metal. I do not believe we lock out the top gears. I think we leave that along. Yes the price jump is significant but its not all due to the upgrades but rather the cost of everything has increased.

@@MotorcoachWorld Wow, thanks! I'm sure there are fleet discounts, promotions, etc and those are trade secrets. But the number you gave is what I was looking for, and it's even more than I expected. Must be tough making a profit with all the costs of running a charter bus company.

@@elcheapo5302 Yeah its a very thin margin industry. You could make $100 and get to keep $1 of that... That's a much smaller scale of an example but its a similar ratio as the number get higher

Sorry to say but they missed the mark with the metal luggage rack doors, eventually it will be very disturbing when the vibrate. I guess that I always felt squeezed riding in a Prevost and from the video it seems the same.

I dont like the metal overhead. Yes, it'll save cost in replacing the plastic doors, but the banging is not cool. Do the Prevo's have tv screens/ monitors for like long school trips movies can be played. I like how if they choose to, the coustomer or driver can put their phone into the sound system (mine dosent have a 3.5 mm jack none of the android Samsung Galaxy S series do) that is a nice feture.
