You two are just the best ! I enjoy your videos so much. I just got my first adv bike, a Suzuki vstrom 1050. The heritage softail doesn't like off asphalt very much. Chris, you rocked that ride. No pun intended. Well maybe a little. Haha.

My hats off to both of you for this adventure! That "road" reminds me of going up through Nothern Quebec and on through Labrador on what they called the Labrador Through Way (its not paved). You pick up a satellite phone from the RCMP in case you break down or crash and return it when you're back in civilization (no joke). This was a trip of a lifetime but I would never do it again till they pave it. Great Vlog. Stay Safe, Stay Well, and Keep Two Wheels on the Ground!!!

Those guys had the patience of saints. Like they said, your bikes aren't designed for this harsh of a terrain. Even experienced Jay had a problem. Chris you did great! It's an accomplishment you both should be proud of on heavy bikes, not like theirs. I probably would have had a few drinks back at camp, to try to ease what had to be a bunch of tired and sore muscles. Great job to both of you, and those excellent people that you were with. Thanks for sharing. Jayman...

That RiverRoad just seems to go on forever. The hills coming out of the draws, covered by babyheads, are exhausting on a big bike. They really wear you down, and the more tired you get, the harder they are. It's so nice when you finally hit that pavement. And you're right, nobodies coming out to rescue you. You just have to keep pushing on. The 1250 is just to big/heavy for that ride. Job well done!!

Chris, this will sound silly but you can put black electrical tape across the top of your face shield and it will act like a visor. I run two strips along the top of mine. Got this trick from a RyanF9 video.

I give you guys a lot of credit. I started out with an on-off road Honda SL175 50 years ago. I might have tried a road like this 50 years ago on my little SL175, but not now. I sit very comfortably on my Heritage Softail Classic and I avoid dirt roads. If someone told me we were going on a 51 mile dirt path through the mountains, I'd tell them "I'll meet you at the other end". You guys hung in there the whole way and have an accomplishment to brag about. That is very cool! Another great video. Keep up the good work.

My friends and I just got back from trying that road at the end of April. We ended up turning back. There were three of us, and we had a tiger 1200, a ktm 1290 and a harley pan america. We all decided that's a road for smaller bikes, for certain.

Chris you did extremely well on that ride and I admire you 100% for doing it! I wish that you could show us the "uncut version"! I guess you would have been better if you had the proper tires, even Rich was running TKC 70's, which is why he got away with driving hard compacted sand and small rocks but remember he is a big man and that helps. And if you had lowered the pressure in your tire it would have helped some! I am no expert at riding but I have been on GS since 1981 and travelled the world but again I admire you for taking that difficult trip! I love your videos and maybe we'll meet somewhere on the road this summer. Ciao

All in a day in Adventure riding. You already know. There is a reason your guides are riding smaller displacement bikes. Big diff. You already know the Beamers are great super slab and fine gravel road machines. It’s washed-out eroded rough stuff that takes the finesses gained from experience from rides like these. Awesome stuff and nice riding nonetheless. Ride safe and ride often.

Very true, it is one of the reasons that I downsized to a KTM 390 Adventure. Still not the unicorn, but much easier to handle in the tough stuff, and MUCH easier to pick up if you drop it.

I rode River Rode in December by myself on my Africa Twin Adventure Bike, I was incredibly proud I didn’t drop it one time, no one I told understood why that was a big deal. Most people said “Well, I would hope you didn’t drop your bike” You can’t understand that road until you ride it.

Looking at both of your tires….you really need 50/50 road/dirt tires, not worn down ADV tires (front is the most important because it’s the one that causes the bike to either stay up or go down). Also you experienced why so many newbies with little technical riding off road who buy big heavy bikes most of the time sell them immediately after experiencing what you did today….so kudos for powering thru….next time sit way back on your seat when you’re plowing thru soft sand (more body weight directly over your rear power wheel helps so much.

@@TwoWheelsBigLife Yes, you guys are good riders, you can learn better off road skills. It takes practice. I have been riding dirt most of my life. A smaller bike might do better, if the mission has changed, more exploring, less long range comfort? Those r big, expensive motorcycles you ride. I ride a WR 250 R, and go places on it, I wd never think about on a big bike. It is tall, and has a narrow seat. When you said 50mi. of dirt road, i thought "oh shit". And especially on the weight class bike's that you have. And that's before I viewed the shit-load of rock's. My hat's off to both of you, but especially Chris as most women do not have the upper body strength of a man. She certainly make's up for it mentally as this type of riding require's a lot of mental. Congratulation to you both: you have my upmost respect. Illinois, USA

Poor Richard and this time, Chris too. That's a rough ride; I'll let you have my share. That's a tough ride for you both; I still admire your superior riding skills.

So glad you were able to lay it down gracefully. Off road rule of thumb is keep the speed up and point to where you want to be. You guys did very well on a very tough ride and have amazing video to show. Thanks for sharing a truly terrifying (ie lost count of the side ways cam views lol) and fun ride.

You two went to school in this video. The way to get better is do it and fail and do it again. Been there done that. Good job guys. Great video. Ride safe and have fun. 🇺🇸

Great videos guys 👍 when I first started riding in the 70s🙈 it was in the dirt and was a great way to learn To read the terrain and the knowledge IS transferable to the street. Also being a little embarrassed is an insensitive to improve so don’t sweat it. Happy trails!!!

OMG I was watching it on my big monitor screen. I felt like I was there on the ride myself. And I was stressing out. OMG I couldn't wait until you got to the end of your ride. There is noway I would put myself and my off road bike through this. Too much for me. No Thank you.. I Felt like you. Can I just quit right now. LOL

Always amazes me how experienced riders take those who are not ready or don't have the proper equipment on these rides. Anyone on the size of bike you have would not tackle these routes. Scars are your rewards I guess!

You did extremely well especially riding a heavy GS. I noticed the other gentleman ride bikes that are much lighter.

Chris and Richard I have followed you since you first started, this is the first vlog I haven’t enjoyed. I admire you both for tackling this ride and you both did an awesome ride but it was too nerve racking for me to enjoy worrying that you would get seriously hurt. I hope you didnt have too many bruises the next day. From Australia.

You guys did an awesome job getting west to east. I’ve made that ride after a hard rain caused the sand to cover the trail. It was the hardest ride I’ve ever done. I had my son with me and the temperatures were in the 100’s in July. Never again am I doing BB in July. Jay Masterson you are an inspiration! Ride safe guys! Thank you for taking us along with you.
