Helinox make some great stuff. I own a chair one and the little table. FOr a sleeping mat I went and brought an EXPED down mattress, which is small, light, warm and extremely comfortable. The exped mattress has a hand pump built in and has a layer of down internally which is rated to -20 degrees C. This makes sure that you dont get the cold rising up from underneath which is a problem you poiinted out in your video. It packs up to a cylinder about 22cm long by 15cm in diameter. and its light at only about 800g. loving the vids. J

This is a fantastic review Mark! I usually use a Hennessy Hammock to sleep in, but there are those times when there are no trees to hang from. I may consider using the Helinox Cot One, instead of my Oregon bed roll. Putting a blanket over the cot that touches the floor covering the sides and the top & bottom, should create a vapor barrier trapping the heat and keeping you from getting too cold. You can now test the patches on the mattress, too funny! Thanks for sharing my friend!

Great video, thanks! Those clamps look awesome, I went with the cheaper Marchway cot from Amazon and the legs collapse sometimes as you get on/off the cot because the push-on plastic clamps are too narrow ( I’m about 190lbs), I’ll try a fix with some tape around the poles but if that doesn’t work it could get spendy!

I like your channel, In the last few weeks I've seen just about every video you've done (planning my own solo trip). Its good to watch a video with someone that speaks my native language. Like you Mark, I love my Helinox kit for motorcycle camping. Biggest problem with the helinox cot (imho) is that it means some smaller tents are no longer possible. I say that because my helinox cot will not fit in the Hilleberg Nallo2. It raises you to a height where your feet impact on the sloping end wall. (This forces you to take along a larger tent such as the Keron4.)

Backpacking trick I learned as a kid: strip down to just a thermal layer at night and lay the dry clothes for the next day inside the bottom of the sleeping bag. Makes a good layer of insulation to keep the cold out and gives you warm clothes for the morning.

Very insightful. Hmmmm that Helinox stretcher looks really comfortable, a bit finicky and big but comfortable. As was an advocate for inflatable mattresses until I started touring Central Oz and the all occasions couldn't get more than 3 days of life out of them as there were always some super spiky shrubs that pocked through the tent floor and the mattress :( Even when I started to be careful, I eventually punctured them. I ended up buying a roll out foam mattress that just sits on top of my top box as they weigh a couple grams, Hmmmm, considerations.

I noticed that there were a couple of loops at the top of the cot which would be handy for tethering pillows, etc. Perhaps a space blanket between the sleeping bag and cot might also insulate effectively and be lighter and less bulky than a picnic blanket. Thanks for all of the great DR vids, I bought a 93 model with lots of farkles cheap the other day. Great bike.

In regards to holes in your air mattress, you can grab a $2 stick of rubber (can't remember what they're called for the life of me) and it will fix and knick up to an inch. I've used them many times while camping. You just use a lighter to heat up the stick and rub it over the hole to seal it

Looking at some of the comments RE price... yep, not cheap but terrific quality etc. I have a helinox chair and table, used both recently camping for 6 days straight and it was brilliant. The chair is super comfy, it also works superb with the table. I guess if your not after ultralight gear you probably cant justify the cost... unless your addicted to camping gear like me!!! I prefer my helinox gear even for car based camping now. If i was touring on a bike, I would definitely use this - light, strap on anywhere/anyway, good to get off the ground after riding all day. Cheers.

Not really a big thing but it doesn’t need the middle lock nub to push down to break the legs down. When installed the legs won’t come apart and if it’s cold out and your fingers are cold it can be hard to push those nubs you can get rid of them my taking a knife or screw driver and pushing them in then in to the pipe.
