Hi guys! Good to see a Shed talk. Where I am in the States, we don't have either bike yet. The bike that has me most excited is the 2025 BMW f450 GS. BTW Rem's Mom got the CF Moto, and she seems to love it.

It's interesting, I have a riding buddy with plenty of money (like a Multistrada, a 1300GS and a 501 Husky) who bought a 411. I asked if he was going to get a 452 an his reply was no. His reasoning was his other bikes were perfect and the 452 too good, the old Himmy was so bad he could tinker with it buying parts without end to make it vaguely acceptable. Sometimes you just need a hobby.

HI why compare bikes base on price. these bikes are not compatible with each other. one vs two cylinder. compare bikes with same cylinder count. you can compare Himalayan 450 with CRF450. DRZ400. KTM690. and so on. I own 450MT and KTM450.

Just clocked 10,000 klm on my MT450 and she hasn’t had any issues and I’ve done everything from single track to highway riding sitting on 120, yeah it runs out of puff on the highway that would be my only gripe. And it carries its weight well, you wouldn’t know it was 195kg.
@seawench555Күн бұрын
Just got to remember she's a 450cc, but we can only do 110kms on the highway anyway. 🇦🇺🤙

I tried one two up as I am selling my V Strom 650 that I rode around the world (including circumnavigating Australia). The guy I tried it with was on a Himi and I asked if if we should swap bikes. I wouldn’t bother he said so I didn’t. Ordered one next day in September and it arrives in March, such is the demand in Europe.
@slakk5093Күн бұрын
I’m guessing you are talking about the cfmoto? So you had the chance to ride the himi back to back and took someone else’s opinion instead of getting first hand experience?
@timothyangus954Күн бұрын
@@slakk5093 The man I was riding with was Nathan Millward, of Nathanthepostman fame. A far better rider than an old man of 69 like me will ever be.
@slakk5093Күн бұрын
@@timothyangus954 ah ok that would explain it, Nathan hates the 450 himi. Interesting he told you not to ride it at all though 🤔 he’s mentioned in his videos that guys on his rides have tried both and preferred the himi. He always says that people should try first hand, which I agree with 100%

There’s a KZbin of an Asian guy taking the CF Moto engine apart and it’s a copy of the CP2 Yamaha engine. One of the issues found was sub standard big end bearings compared to Japanese bikes, possibly why they initially use a high Zinc content break in oil.

Greetings Gentlemen SO good to see you all doing what you do. The discussion on the Himalayan and CF 450 bikes is a good one and MAD TV did do a very comprehensive review; Mark maybe its time to change, a new bike may help to get the Vibe back. I had to make some decisions about bikes in regards to my Health and Age...I still want to ride I need bikes that allow me to do just that! It's your choice Mark. Thank you all. Yes I like my Scramblers, I can do a lot with them. Make see you soon... David....Adelaide.....Triumph Scramblers 1200X and 900......all for the ride

(Tenere dry weight is 187kg - wet 205 kg ) these 2 bikes are too heavy for their engine sizes / better going Yamaha for engine size 700cc

T7 has a taller seat and almost costs 2x more.
@nockianlifter661Күн бұрын
If you watch the recent Nathan the Postman ride on the CF he rides up a tough climb and he said he would not have taken the T7 up there. It’s not just weight or power, it’s a combination of everything that makes it such a good bike for novice riders and those with less talent.
@Ozsmallbore3 сағат бұрын
You spec sheet warriors need to give it a rest. There is so much more to a bike than what a few numbers may suggest. Anyone who is being honest will tell you the T700 feels way heavier than it actually is, and the MT450 and Himalayan feel lighter than their numbers suggest. And less than 1/2 the price.
@jonnothetruckerКүн бұрын
Also the standard tyres on the mt450 hate wet and slippery off road 😅
@jonnothetruckerКүн бұрын
Better than standard Bark busters, and bashplate are an absolute must on the MT450, standard bashplate is tinfoil
@jonnothetruckerКүн бұрын
My mt450 is brilliant! Sounds bloody awesome with a pipe on it, feels a lot lighter than it is or looks, front brake is not brilliant, but does the job, you sit in it rather than on it, 4 litres per 100k, have gotten over 400k to a tank, plenty of power, happiest above 3500rpm, stock rebound is to quick in the bush, comp and preload is good for 90kg, I backed my rebound off 4 clicks front and back from the standard 10 out of 20 available, I find the kyb to usually be double what a showa fork would be to get the same results. An absolute joy to ride

Been hanging out for this review/comparison 😊
@UncannySenseКүн бұрын
Saving up for my MT450 for me its the 270* crank twin cylinder engine. No interest in doing single track, never plan to drop it in the rough so weight is not that big of an issue and it will sit better on the highway than any dual sport. Also I don't think the Himmy 452 looks that good.

“No boot is overkill, the more protection you’ve got the better” Why then does your thumbnail text imply $700 boots are a rip-off that are marketed to trick new riders? You hypocritically then stated $500-700 boots are better quality, better protection and last longer. My first off-road boots were Gaerne T10s that cost $700. My less technical Adv boots are Gaerne Dakars that cost $500. Why did I go for those over Formas as a new Adv rider? Not because I’m gullible that’s for sure. I did my homework and they are better quality, better protection and last longer than the equivalently marketed Formas. I’m not saying Formas aren’t good boots. But they aren’t the best. Gaerne beat out Forma, SIDI etc and if people have the money then why not get the best? General rule is, after your helmet the next biggest expense should be boots. Buy the best you can afford. Just because Formas are the most commonly used doesn’t make them the best boot. But that logic McDonalds is the best fast food for you. I would be staying away from anything not made in Italy/Romania if I could afford it. Especially with boots often on sale and the ease of pay over four fortnight’s available.

I have decided to sell my 2017 KTM 1090R and buy a 2018 AT. Great video,. thanks for sharing!

Hey Mark, I’m happy to hear you have been back in the saddle. I haven’t been on my bike as much as I like this year. I’m kinda down in a funk. Sadly our season is pretty much done here (New Brunswick Canada). We have lows near -5 daily now as winter is quickly approaching. Just wanted to say thanks for the content, it’s what keeps us going through our cold winter months. I bought my first bike last year (I’m 44 now), I bought a 23’ DRZ 400S. Man I love that thing. Keep on keeping on brother!

I always count my tent pegs when packing up. I have 10 red ones for a full tent set up and 8 blue ones for my tarp setup. If peg numbers don't add up, then I know for sure, that there must still be a peg "hiding"...somewhere. You definitely do not want to arrive at a campsite with thunderstorms forecast, and then find you don't have all your pegs!

Definitely test stuff before you go. I've been camping since I was a sprog and I still test any new gear before I take it out - new as in newly purchased, not necessarily new to me. Even if it's the simplest thing in the book and 1000% foolproof, a test might reveal something, even if it's "hey, this is great and I think it'd be even better if I also got such-and-such to use with it." Definitely charge everything the night before you head out, even if it makes your workbench look like a major computer installation with all the trailing cables... People are advised to always peg down the tent before putting in the poles, regardless of whether or not it's self-supporting - unless they *_really enjoy_* chasing their tent across the camp ground and watching it sail off down the stream. If they're into *that* then, yeah, they can leave it untethered... Overnighting at home in your camping setup is essential. That'll tell you if you're going to be warm enough, dry enough, have enough room for you and your gear, can get prepped for sleep and get up in the morning without issues... this is when you learn things like "I could really do with more insulation" or I can't fit all my shit in the vestibule and tent, I need to work out where that's going to stay" etc.
