I really like to do some cooking while motorcycle camping. The cooler and the two burner propane stove make it that much easier to eat good, healthy meals. I had stocked up in Corner Brook before heading up to Trout River Campground in Gros Morne National Park. For supper I had a chicken stir fry with a Crooked Feeder Oatmeal Stout. The next morning, for breakfast, it was coffee, an omelet and English muffin. It's a tough life out on the road.

I'm in awe of your packing/unpacking stuff and what you bring with a motocycle and trailer!!! I have a 24ft Winnebago Navion, towing a Smart for two and I have yet to organize my stuff like you do. I'm learning much from your videos! Thx

A great shot of your cook station level device, surprised others didn't pick up on that. Waiting for the next one.

Haha, you had a cute little visitor... hopefully not a visitor looking to be a stow away. That "paring" knife at the beginning of the video has been pumping iron 😳🤣 Ahhhhhh, when there's sizzling sounds when camping, something good is cookin' !!!

You know I love my cast iron pans. they produce the best sizzle. The little bugger only got a few crumbs and did not hide away in a tote. Love that knife... intimidates the toughest vegetables and meats.

Wow! What a good-looking meal. You seem to be quite the chef. I'm still in the process of deciding on different gear that I want to pack. So I'm still packing and unpacking and packing and unpacking again. I'll get it figured out after I do one or two overnight camping trips. I sure enjoy your Videos. Be safe out there.

I've got my basic pack down pretty well. Still juggling for what I need for 4+ months on the road with all the weather I can possibly run into. One thing I don't like to compromise on is my food!

when I left Caliboga after seeing you I had no trailer lights. I left the cable to long and it rubbed on the road and was cut. Lesson learned haha I repaired the wires when I got home.
@OldGuyonaBike

It happens... I am going to replace all the trailer light wiring when the weather gets warmer. There seems to be a weak ground somewhere. Might have a little corrosion in a connection. Had problems with that right turn signal all summer and sometimes with the running lights.

Great to see you had help getting the dishes done. Two things I now need to add. 1. The stainless steel bourbon cup. I would feel more like a sophisticated gentleman drinking out of that instead of a dirty coffee mug. 2. The awesome muffin toaster. That thing was awesome. Does it have a ceramic bottom? Great video.
@OldGuyonaBike
@OldGuyonaBike Жыл бұрын
The cup is actually a stainless steel wine goblet with the base cut off. Fits perfectly in my stainless steel coffee mug so it does not take up extra space when packing. Yes, we all need a little class when in camp. Those toasters have been around forever. My parents had one for camping with us kids 60 years ago. Thin steel base with holes in it. www.amazon.ca/DGQ-Toaster-Foldable-Portable-Stainless/dp/B08LH1Q5B4/ref=sr_1_4?crid=1NGOTK64AMRI8&keywords=coleman+camp+stove+toaster&qid=1678578696&sprefix=camp+toaster%2Caps%2C207&sr=8-4

Jim I've been meaning to ask about your totes. what are the sizes and where did you find those with the raised lids. I have bought a couple but I'm not satisfied with what I have.😃
@OldGuyonaBike
@OldGuyonaBike Жыл бұрын
I certainly lucked into those totes. Fit so well they could have been made for the Mini Mate. They are a Canadian Tire exclusive which doesn't help those in the States. www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/mastercraft-tinted-transparent-heavy-duty-storage-box-with-latched-lid-assorted-sizes-1421677p.1421677.html?loc=plp I use the 36 l & 16 l sizes. They are often on sale. That raised lid is so convenient.

Hey James, I’m intrigued do you buy ice every day for the cooler. Would it have been easier to hook up an electric cooler or are they just to heavy
@OldGuyonaBike
@OldGuyonaBike Жыл бұрын
In temps over 30C/85F, I found on that trip that I needed ice almost every day if I was carrying milk, eggs and bacon (typical for me). Main meal meat, i.e. a chicken breast, pork chop or steak would be a eat the same day as buying so just being cool rather than cold was ok. Veggies and fruit only need to be cool. The electric coolers only drop the temp by about 30 degrees so on a 85 degree day you would still need ice although it would last longer. Those coolers tend not to be well insulated. Actual 12 volt fridges take a lot of power and usually have limited storage space due to thicker insulation and the compressor. I worry about riding through rain with them as they need access to fresh air and the fan inlates could let a lot of water in. They are also heavy as are the rotomolded coolers even though those are quite efficient. I did try something this year with extra insulation and there will be a video on that later this winter. I still budget for a bag of ice per day even if I don't buy one. Long term on the road, it is always a juggle to keep food cold and fresh.

So sorry you were disappointed. I certainly did not mislead in the title and threw in a breakfast to boot... you could have just skipped watching. Funny thing is, I just had someone the other day ask if I was going to show more of what I do in camp and another saying seeing what and how I cook was making him think about getting a trailer for his bike so he could live better while camping. Can't please everyone, so I guess I'll just have to keep putting out what I've got.
