MOTORCYCLE CAMPING - SOLO- Sawtooth Canyon California
In this video I am heading out to Sawtooth Canyon which is about 40 miles Southwest of Barstow California for a quick overnight motorcycle camping trip. I've got some new gear to try including my new Zen Bivy Light bed. This is a great little campground with only 15 spots and it's first come first served so leave during peak times.

Nice to see you got out there to Sawtooth. It's a cool place especially if you can avoid the climbers IMO. I have nothing against climbers in general, but I had a few annoying experiences at Sawtooth, like drunk people coming into my camp in the middle of the night to climb. Last time I was out there, I could see the BLM has been trying to reduce the impact of people camping all over the place in non-designated spots. Sawtooth is a local fave of mine, and once it cools down I'll be back there, during the week of course to avoid the weekend noise. There is also dispersed camping on the other side of the road (Ord Mountain) with a few decent spots, but may have some deep sand to deal with. *** I have been off my MTB for awhile. Raced XC for about 10 years in my younger days. Wishing you the best for getting back out there racing. Last one for me was the Sea Otter Classic in 2012. Glad you made it through your medical issue...scary! Also congrats on the KLX. I am upgrading my suspension on my CRF300 and then I think it will be perfect for me. So nice meeting you, hey we made it to the video at 8 seconds you see me and my brother on the trail my brother found your video and said "were on KZbin" we got a good laugh from that how cool, you were a true lifesaver that day thank you so much for letting us use the power bank because we was going to cut our trip short, I still keep my eyes out for the drone, we are actually going back tomorrow for a final trip before school starts back up, great video hope to see you again😊

Nice outing, I really need to do the moto camp thing. Did you have a set backup in case the campground was full? Not too hot this time of the year in the desert?

Thanks!! I did have a backup plan. Would have been about an hour and a half away but totally doable.. It was very pleasant in the evening as far as temps go.. That was late April though.. I went up to higher elevations for a trip this past week.. That video will be coming soon..

how was the zenbivy setup? would it be a better on top of a cot?

Hi Mike.. I was using a cot for a bit but i like to be able to stick a leg out etc.. the zen bivy with the sleeping pad works better for me.. However, you can just purchase a zen bivy quilt without the sleeping pad.. I know a lot of people do that..
