I love the sounds of the birds. We live in California and have very few birds. This was so fun to watch.... Thanks.

I feel sorry for you I live in California as well but i always hear birds (sometimes it gets annoying XD) so I'm wondering where the hell you live X3 Whenever I *dont* hear birds it means something's going to be off that day or something is wrong

The birds lol. One tip to cut down on cleaning of the pot is to soap up the outside of it to aid in removal of the soot when washing.

For the black stuff on the pot you can also wrap it with aluminum foil before cooking, and when done, crumple it up and through it away. Place aluminum in your frying pan before cooking, and easy cleanup is the same. Makes messes no longer a bother. At home, when I cook in the oven. I line pans with aluminum foil all the time, and it's easy cleanup Best regards. Love your videos.

Yes, for a campfire, using the copper and plastic/rubber or piece of old garden hose technique, you no longer need to do that old, on your knees, face in the fire, blowing on the coals, with your eyes burning as you inhale smoke, or sit there waving your hat back and forth. Makes campfire maintenance a good bit easier, and more pleasant. No reply needed Mark, but I enjoy your videos.

Learned from a trip with similar open fire cooking that tin-foil helps sheild from the blackening and blocks flame from licking your hands when you go to grasp handles. That aside, I love that lil stove!

G'Day Gaz, I know here in Victoria on Total Fire Ban days you can only use gas or electricity appliances that are designed for cooking only - NO solid or liquid fuels. This would mean I could use the gas stove but NOT the firebox as long as I had a 3 metre clearance of any flammable vegitation and I had water on had to put out any problems. Hope this helps mate! Cheers... Mark

It's a nice little stove, but is so expensive. Even on ebay it's about $60 to $90. Take a metal coffee can, cut out one end. Set it down with the open end up. Punch a few holes in the lower sides, and at the top side, punch four holes at each 90 degrees from each other. Push two metal tent pegs, or long nails across, side to side (make two holes for one peg lower than the others, and you'll have a stove with a grill on top. If you want, cut a large hole in the lower side to feed the fire inside.

I wonder if you held off cooking until the flame died down to just hot embers if the black soot would not be a problem. I think the embers/coals would be hotter than the flame anyway. Adding this to my camping wishlist.

G'day Kevin, quite possible mate! Cheers... Mark

Do you ever have a campfire that burns down to coals and you put wood on it, but it just smoulders and smokes? I carry a foot long piece of 1/2 inch diameter copper tubing and about three feet of plastic tubing. Put together, I just hold the copper in, or near the coals and blow threw the plastic, and immediately have flames. I thought with your little stove in this video a 1/4 diameter piece of copper with some plastic tubing might do the same thing. Push it through a hole and blow.
