Heading out this way this summer. Ketchum to Wallace, mostly following the Tour of Idaho t1 and t2 and hope to take the BDR back. I absolutely love the Wallace and Avery area. Can't wait. Thanks for sharing man

Nice video. I live along the northern part of the IDBDR. We do have a LOT of side by sides ripping around. I tell everyone I ride with to expect a large vehicle in your lane on EVERY blind corner.

JR.. I just realized that I think I met you on the IDBDR? My name is Joaquin. We camped on the East South fork of the Salmon River. I have the 2021 890R.

I would love to pick your brain regarding the Idaho BDR. I just started riding dual sport two years ago. I am planning a trip for 2024 doing the Idaho BDR and extending up into Coeur d’Alene. How can we connect? Thank you so much great video.

PM me on Messenger, Joe Depew. There is a IDBDR FB page you can ask questions on and learn from regarding that BDR too.

Hi, I’ve ridden with a group over LoLo pass and Magruder . How and what do you use for navigation along the way.

Hi, I use a dedicated phone with GAIA app installed and gpx tracks loaded. RideBDR.com has the tracks for the BDR's.

Joe could you tell me what type or brand armor you are wearing? I’m looking for something light and breathable to wear over a T shirt and possibly throw a jersey over it. Thanks

That's the setup I like. I use a Forcefield Pro Air armored zip up mesh shirt over a moisture wicking Tee and a riding jersey on top. A puffy jacket if Chilly. A rain shell for wet. A more rugged shell jacket can fit over if armor in it is removed.

Do you think a 650 VStrom would handle that trip? Doesn’t look too rough, definitely need knobby tires.
@jrdepew

The IDBDR would not be a problem if you are used to moderate challenges. WABDR is a bit tougher in places. There is always an easier alternative to choose. If you have to pick one, I’d go with IDBDR.

Nice report! Looks like a great trip. Considering a DR for the WABDR and it looks like it worked well for you. How did it do on the highway sections? Will you use it again on future trips like this or make a change. Thanks!

Hi David. I have put 25,000 miles on this DR. MOSTLY trail. It is not a highway machine if your talking interstate travel but certainly can do it. I did nearly 1,000 miles of that this summer. Check my channel for many more trips like this on this same DR. @JRDEPEW. WYBDR, ORBDR, UTBDR. With proper mods it does it all for a fraction cost.
