I moved to Oregon from the east coast in 1995 (Lakeview). My honeymoon was at Crater Lake. There’s a lot of beauty in this state. The Deschutes is a beautiful river.

Found your channel by chance. Live in Oregon west of Portland. I’ve spent a ton of time camping in dispersed campgrounds in State Forest lands. One thing I’ve learned about camping in Oregon is that as much as you think you are the only one out there, you likely aren’t. You have to go really deep into the woods and or off the old abandoned logging roads a ways to truly be alone in the Oregon woods. Especially with Covid 19, more folks out in the woods now than ever! Happy camping you two!

That blue water container must take up some serious space. Have you considered getting a collapsible water container? I think it is more desirable when space is limited.
@dafringe4 жыл бұрын
Those water bags that come with the Sawyer have a tendency to crack. Instead of holding/squeezing water through the Sawyer filter using those bags, which takes forever, you might consider trying what I used to do when backpacking. Buy a 3 liter Platypus Big Zip hydration bag... mark it as a "dirty water only" bag... remove the bite valve at the end of the hydration hose... push the dirty end of the Sawyer filter into the end of the hydration hose where the bite valve was located. When you need camp water... disconnect the hydration hose from the 3 liter bag... fill the bag with dirty water... hang the bag from a tree... reconnect the hydration hose to the bag... and let gravity do the work for you while you go about getting your camp setup. And it rolls up and is reasonably compact for traveling. You can see it in my hiking video, at the 53 minute mark, at this link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r2bUm5qhmqmNotE

@@TwoWheelsBigLife A big tent has many, many benefits, the time taken to set up camp means you're less likely to move each day. That means you'll get to appreciate the area more because you'll explore, the best way to travel. I'm moving up in tent size, going from a 1 person hiking tent to a 2-3 person tent and tarp because I've found I need more room in the poorer weather when you need to spend more time indoors.

Not comfortable , move on! We reserved a place ion CA on our Hwy 1 ride at a KOA place for a couple of days. We "camped" with huge RVs on an asphalt camp ground - actually a parking lot!. We had to drive tent spikes through the asphalt to set up the campsite. We packed up the next morning and went in about 50 miles inland and found a more remote place that we ended up staying 2-3 days. So much more fun! By the way this is the ONLY KOA site we have not be satisfied with!

@@TwoWheelsBigLife This is the better mentality. Feel free, because you don´t treat any others. The national forest is for Everyone. It is not private property. Here in Germany it can be totaly different. Many People, who doesn´t matter. Other People, who think, it is forbidden, what you do. And maybe call the police. So I would be nervous, what kind of people see me doing ? If I would be in the same situation, I would camp stealth. And I would hope, that no one recognize me. Even not their dogs. For me, it would be an unsafe spot. Because so many people coming around. The fact here is: It is forbidden, to camp in the forests, also wild camping, without permit. It is too difficult, or impossible, to get a permit. Even not from the forest ranger. Some get it, if the forest ranger knows well, about you. But if you want to stay some nights only, and go on your tour, it is too difficult to get a permit. The forest rangers are afraid about open fire. To get the whole forest burned.
