The thread is neon thread. The material is leather black for the lateral pieces and the green neon for the center panel. I bought some green pigment and sprayed it over this portion before sewing process.

Hello John, Thanks so much for kind comment! I have tried to emulate those old cars whose seats had 'heat pressed channels'. Furthermore, I used to do it on motorcycles seats, at the beginning of the eighties. I had a bigger machine at that time and all the seat pleats came out at one go. Above all, it is just an application of basic sewings we can find in a humble and the most luxurious car. I think it depends on how to put them together. Merry Christmas!
@Theluckyneedle

@@Cechaflo That's a great way to emulate those pleats. Thanks for sharing! Merry Christmas to you as well. Hey by the way you should check out the forum I started. You have a lot of fans on there and they would love hear from you. www.TheUpholsteryForum.com

Hi John, Thanks for kind reply. Moreover, I would be glad to join the Lucky Needle Upholstery Forum. One more of your great efforts to create this forum for the sake of enthusiasts and passionate people in the upholstery trade. I have been checking interesting topics off and on, but not lately. I would be glad to participate and share some ideas. As we all know, we never stop learning from each other and should update ourselves everyday. BTW I just saw a related thread of this december 2018 to heat pleating. Such a coincidence! It would be interesting to contribute with some useful information.

Dude. You are a freaking MASTER! I love the look of that seat. I wish I had access to a surger like that. I'm have a few questions. Is there a way to build up a rear ridge to create a deeper saddle on a plastic pan solo seat? Maybe you have a vid of how to change to a deeper saddle? And, what kind of thread do you use when sewing leather? I only have a regular sewing machine, but I'd love to try something like this. I wish I had a way to do the pleated panel. That is totally badass. You are an artist, bro.
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 6 жыл бұрын
Hello, yes, it is possible to create the deeper saddle. I do not have a how-to video. When sewing leather I use the 'standard polyester thread 92 size for the 'basic closing sewings'. In case of decorative stitches a 138 size suits well. A 110=18 needle for the thin thread and a 140=22 needle for the thicker decorative thread. I have videos related to do regular pleats:kzbin.info/www/bejne/qoCml4eVfZd3frs kzbin.info/www/bejne/qnqad35vnqZmpLs kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zn27gYt-ndVkl8k I suppose this is what you asked for at the beginning...I mean the raised saddle:kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3isgoGqqshnf80 Thanks for watching the videos! @Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 4 жыл бұрын
You would need a dialectric press like master Calvin shows in his video. Microwaves are used to heat the material (vinyl, leather. foam) in order to be embosed. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZ-xZXtvZquhbZo Hot platen presses could also be useful. You could order a new one from a press manufacturer or get a used one. It is important to consider the embossing area.
