Hi CycleCruza! I would love to see you putting the airbag vest to the test. Not crashing, of course! just pull the string and tell us how it feels, and how to change the cartridge. I know there are videos on youtube about that, but I want to hear your review about it, since you always recommend the vest.

The best gear to have is the gear you “want” to wear all the time. If you find yourself owning so-called “must-have” gear that is too cumbersome to wear regularly so you end up not wearing them, you might as well not have them.

CC thanks for this video. I'd like to offer another tip which is on your bike. Metal framed hand guards. I had a simple crash off-road and my right hand fingers got jammed by that metal frame guard resulting in serious injury to two finger joints. I strongly suggest riders not use these hard metal framed guards. Breaking a control is expensive but your fingers are irreplaceable. Please review and think about this in a future video. They also trap your hands, you can't just slip your hands off the bars right or left side because of them. I've noticed most if not all pro hard enduro riders do not have these hand guards on their bikes.

Wearing gear saved my life , I was hit off my bike going through green light by a car making a left turn , sent me flying 8ft in the air and my body flipped about 2 times while airborne, by the grace of god and my gear I walked away with a broken left wrist when Dr said I should be drinking food from a straw 🙏🏽

@ saylos lafo - wow , what an inconvenience. did their insurance pay for the damages done to your bike??? or did you get another one instead? amen that you were able to walk away from that . people on 4+ wheels need to be more alert about their surroundings than being selfish about themselves and also being on the cellular phone . . . and or consuming and smoking and vaping.

Scorp well as of now no , my Lawyer is investigating the type of assets they guy has and what type of policy he holds because the guy has a 3rd party policy out of state, thankfully my bike isn’t too bad, it fires right up and the most work I have to do with it is change the plastics all around , I had no frame damage , just a broken foot peg/shifter and brake fluid tank with the hose going to brake lever

Follow behind other bikes if something in the street like a log bor tyre he will find out first. Wear a neck brace... And crotch protector. 👢 Boots that cover support ankles. A bullet roof vest some crazy mkrs out there or flying debris. Keep safe. 🙏😏

I know a guy who lost his pinky on a street crash. Gauntlet gloves usually have the pinky and index finger sewn together. If he had gauntlet he'd still have his finger. In my crash I landed on my head and it crushed my neck brace. If it wasn't for that I probably would have had a problem. And if I would have had on a airbag vest I probably wouldn't have ruptured my spleen. So I need one of them.

I heard Snell rated helmets can actually be not as good at lower speed impacts since they’re designed for the bigger hits. ECE helmets are my standard. Multi-density foams are always good too.
@CycleCruza
@CycleCruza 4 жыл бұрын
I never heard that. Here are the pros/cons of each rating (Source: Revzilla blog): DOT FMVSS 218 Pros: High-energy testing scheme, uses the hemispherical anvil and two strikes per location Technician is allowed to strike the helmet anywhere within a large coverage area Reasonable maximum allowable energy transfer of 400 g peak CONS: “Honor system” of random testing is ineffective, and many helmets labeled DOT may not actually pass the standard Limited number of headforms used Testing not related to impact energy management is somewhat lacking: no testing of optics, removability, friction resistance and several other important factors ECE 22.05 PROS: Standards are actively and thoroughly tested on all helmets sold with ECE certification Very low peak energy allowable (only 275 g) Extensive battery of testing for a variety of safety-related features. Eight headforms for a larger range of testing variables CONS: Curbstone anvil and single strike equal very low-energy testing, arguably too low for the higher speeds in the United States Fixed helmet strike positions make it possible to cheat the impact testing Headform variety can mean displaced center of gravity during testing, reducing impact energy in tests by up to 20 percent SNELL M2020 PROS: Standards are actively and thoroughly tested on all helmets sold with SNELL certification Very low peak energy allowable (only 275 g) Testing for stability, removability, face shield shattering Extreme “edge” anvil tests intense impact energy Technicians actively search out weak points on helmet, ensuring the most thorough testing possible CONS: Higher cost of private SNELL testing often reflects in higher retail price of SNELL-certified helmets Race-oriented nature of SNELL can exclude helmets with useful street options (internal sun shield, most modular helmets)

I love my ilm gauntlets. But particularly for the gaunts I like the additional wrist support. It's like I'm taping my wrist up to hit a heavybag. It may help against a wrist strain or injury over the long haul, idk. Not all gauntlets have that heavy velcro wrap tho.
@CycleCruza
@CycleCruza 4 жыл бұрын
Gauntlets are more so designed for track riding. However, if you are doing aggressive street riding you should wear them. Shorty gloves bring in more air which is great for hot weather riding. Some shorty gloves have wrist protection, mine has a little bit.

One thing I would like to add is backpacks. I know a lot of people have backpack and imma say drop the backpack and get removable saddle bags and tank bags. It's hard for us bigger guys to find all that other stuff. Most of the armor and motorcycle jackets fit like a half t-shirt or was made overseas where everyone is 5'2 and 105 lbs. I treated myself to armor I bought online and couldn't even get my arms in it. I bought 3xl to play it safe thinking if it's kind of big I'll wear something under it but nope, didn't workout. My friend wears XL and he couldn't get the zipper up and said it would tear if he raised his arms. 😆

@@CycleCruza I heard feet injuries happen most in motorcycle accidents. I didn't want the burden of putting on/taking off a boot so I bought some Alpinestars motorcycle riding shoes. They are CE rated although not as substantial as an actual boot. For me, I'm hoping it's a smart compromise.

@@AtimatikArmy what is the advantage of your boot or a sidi boot over say, and engineer boot or a good Carolina boot. I have not seen a motorcycle specific footwear that I like yet, that part of the problem for me... plus I wanna be fully functional when I get off of bike, since when I ride I stay at my destination for days at a time. For example I may go out with family via cage after riding up... Wearing motorcycle shoe with shorts at kroger picking up a pork butt.... lol i can see it now Also if I wrap my ankles, and lace up some good military boots, or pro line timbos, what do I lose compared to your CE shoe or sidi. I'm thinking good and high tight leather boot does the trick. As long as they dont interfere with the foot controls. Feel free to take me to school. I have Identified footwear as my Achilles heel. I Don't know if it's one of those things I don't know I'm missing bc I've never had or of its just another money sink... like neckbrace. Cheers

thenewyorker34 I am by no means an expert at all on the subject but I would say perhaps you should at least give the Alpinestars riding shoes a consideration because I think they may meet some of the goals you specified.

All gear is a trade off. If it was just safety we would all look like MotoGP riders. Gauntlets are in fact safer. But it is all choices. In gloves, I will not wear gloves without a hard part where the wrist meets the hand. Look up “rehabbing scaphoid bone” if you wonder why.

You could probably add boots. You don’t really need calf high moto boots. Mid boots over the ankle will be good enough. No shoes!! They will fly off and if you have had any bone broken or foot injury, then I already know you wear good feet protection. Foot injuries SUCK

i like you cruza, but your helmet info is reeeeeally outdated. Ece and snell ratings are not the same thing. Snell is for direct blows, and ece is for glancing blows. Which is more realisitic. (glancing blows are) Either way, both of these ratings are not as important as getting a helmet with MIPS, which reduces rotation acceleration to your head. The 6D tech may even go beyond that, especially their newer Street helmet which surpasses the previous version in safety and aerodynamism. IMO that new advanced 6D helmet is the pinnacle. Do your research before you talk helmet safety cruza!!!
