Very nice video. It is very IMPORTANT to release the pressure on the jack after raising the bike. I loaned mine out and the guy blew the seal out by not pushing the down pedal after setting the stop bars. Luckily, I also got mine on sale which made it a great deal.

Good video. I have that same jack also. When I found the spot that I wanted to lift my SGS, I marked the rubber pad and then painted a white line on the pad. Now all I have to do is look between the frame and exhaust to line up the jack and know its ok to lift. When I need it for my sportster I'll do the same with a different color line. This way I know its centered without walking around to the other side to check.

The bottle is adjustable for lowering pressure. It can be set so you can just step on the release pedal fully and the bike will lower slowly. The bottle is the weak spot especially with a heavy bike as it will start to leak by slowly and eventually won't even lift the bike. On the 2nd bottle which already beginning to drift. My bike is only 670lbs. Anyone who has this lift always use the safety catch.

I got one of these for an 04 FXST. I haven't seen anyone else do this, but I jack it up on the kick stand side. I stand it up, slide it under and start pumpin it up. These things are super sturdy once you find the best way to strap it. Down at it's lowest height and strapped down, you would have to hit it with a car or lawn mower to knock it over.

My goal was to lift my motorcycle on a standard motorcycle jack (not the paddock style) and have it be safe, secure and lift it by myself. I had to make some modifications to my particular bike as it has no frame under the engine. So, I just bought a Sears Craftsman motorcycle jack that was several years old as there are no new Craftsman jacks in any inventory anymore. I chose the old Craftsman because many of the current models are cheezed down on quality. I restored the Craftsman jack with one significant change - on the platform top where the motorcycle sits, I replaced the Acorn nuts with some stainless-steel lifting triangle shaped eyelet nuts. The Craftsman has all M12 heavy duty fasteners. The triangle (eyelets) can be attached to the bike at first contact and the bike will not go anywhere during the lifting process unlike the loops down on the base cannot be used until the bike is fully up in the air. I've posted the final assembly build and modified skid plate on a Kawasaki Versys X300 to allow it to be lifted up in the air. This technique of strapping the bike to the top platform makes is really safe and secure and allow one person to lift the motorcycle hands free. The video is on my channel - LINK: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kICpmXtor76Er68&ab_channel=trekOCLVone

I am giving g up on this jack. The 1st purchased had bent guard rails that didn't lock in (almost dropped bike when 1 side locked and other did not). Exchanged it based on defect. 2nd Jack, worked like it should, but I left the bike on the jack in the locked position for 1 week. Fluid leak. Bike was stuck on the lift. Had to use scissor lifts and carefully get the bike down. So I ponied up for a speed n strength scissor and KnL dolly. There won't be a third chance for the Pittsburgh jack to have an issue. For those that got a good one, congrats. It seems quality control is not very good.

I'm working on a 300 pound Yamaha XT250. I first bought their cheaper dirt bike lift, under $50.00. I had to actually pick up the front of the bike to get it on the platform. Then with all my might, pushed down on the lever to raise the bike. They claimed it was good for 350#. It was a pain in the butt, took it back and bought the lift that is described above. One question though. when I jack up the bike, it's obvious the stop bars will catch in one of three positions. Once I raise the lift above one of the three stops, without pressing on the release pedal, it goes down slowly. It stops of course on one of the three stops. Is this normal or do I have a defective bottle jack? It would make sense to do this, to not depend on the seals in the jack but to make it a very solid stop. And thank you for doing the video. Do others do this? Jim

Hey bud, this looks similar to the J & S jack. Can you move the bike around with this one like you can with the J&S ? I also noticed you have an epoxy floor, if you are able to move your bike with it, do the wheels scratch up your epoxy? The reason I’m asking is , my shop is 28 feet long, but only 14 feet wide, with all tools and what not stacked against the walls I don’t have much room, I have to do a “90 point” turn to face the garage door, so I don’t have to back down the ramp to leave. I’m looking for something to lift it and turn it around. This would a lot more affordable than the J&S. Thanks for your review and any help you can give!

I got one just like it, about 99 dollars, used it a few times, it is junk, frame is warped like crazy as it is uneven and leaning now on the square upward tubing on one side, and the locking bracket for the welds will not even go in to lock it up even since the frame is sprung out already. Frame is too light metal and the hydralic jack is leaking off also and it will not hardly pump up now and the handle moves back and forth like it is ready to fall off, very unsafe jack, thinking about taking it back down there and throwing it in front of the door and they can do what they please with it.
