My friend's brother who's a cop told me that if a biker was going to get pulled over for a minor offense and he decides to run anyway, he usually wouldn't bother pursuing just because the motorcyclist would rather kill himself swerving in and out of traffic at 120 mph than deal with the ticket. Of course some of these bikers actually *want* the cops to chase them.

An A.P.B. on the rider would have the whole area swarming with cops pretty quickly though. I think he just meant that a minor traffic infraction isn't worth the time and resources to get half the police force invested in chasing the rider. It only makes the rider drive even faster and more reckless because he thinks he still can easily lose them despite the odds stacking against him every minute.

You will never outrun the radio, if you stay on one road, police can make 20 kilometers by pushing just one button. Yup, that's Pompton Plains/ Riverdale I think. Those cops also sit on the shoulder on 287 too. There isn't much that goes on around that area, so when a call goes out, they all show up. I think he got off the Ringwood ave exit and headed north towards Haskell. Interesting when you can tell where it's happening.

When I had a 2010 R6 back in 2011-2012 I got it up to about 140 on the turnpike in Orlando but that was on a clear open road in a low traffic day for like 20 seconds and I was scared shitless and that's coming from somebody who raced motocross and the Nesc circuit among others for 10 years growing up - I got the biker situational awareness and reflexes but the street is much different than the dirt

I’m glad to see an honest post. Going fast isn’t for everyone. And nobody should be shamed for not liking to go super fast. I myself love going fast, but in a controlled environment. I’ve torn up the highways too. But it puts others at risk, and that’s bad. And I’ve had some nasty fast cars and motorcycles. Knowing when and where to go fast is important. Yeah, no way would this would in my city, lots of people don't signal. Unless you get a motorcycle cop you could squeeze by on a motorcycle because most of the roads are only standard 2 lanes even though the city is 90K+ population. Traffic is a nightmare at certain times of the day.

in Maryland and Washington DC there's a no chase law.....they'll only chase to see if you can ride, if they see you can ride a bike they let off. In Virginia - GOD SAVE YOU. They WILL get a chopper and set up road blocks the second you run.. Virginia has the nice roads, but it's a police state

No Chase Law applies in DC but for MPD (Metropolitan PD). If you were to cause ruckus near White House or Capitol - you have Secret Service and Capitol Police and FBI Police (FEDERAL). They have jurisdiction in the whole country. Would keep away from them though nobody rides near those touristy areas anyways the roads and traffic there sucks. In suburbs of DC - cop light comes on and you run, they'll just turn the lights off. Same applies in Maryland (except Silver Spring area where the Court house is, they are dicks). Prince Georges County is a joke. Cops there street race and ride themselves. I know a cop from PG who rides a straight pipe Gixer 750 with no tags and he pops wheelies all day. Depending on where you are, the police can pretty much be invisible most of the time unless they’re trying to reach an end of month quota or something else. Some places like small towns or cities will set up speed traps, but it is technically illegal if they do in a way that causes exorbitant amounts of fines. Also, some states are extremely set up. States like these have traffic cams, drones, speed reader setups on the road and toll plazas everywhere. A lot of the states that have forestry along the roads have spots set up for highway patrol units to hide. Lane splitting is only legal in California by the way for foreign motorists.

The cops' procedure to just chase someone on a bike like that, getting close to hitting them and even calling in backup is absolutely insane. At the point that a motorcycle begins to flee, they should automatically break off pursuit, because the biker is usually only going to keep driving dangerously as long as you chase them. Acting like you are going to hit them in your police cruiser is just as insane, especially at those speeds. Your job is supposedly to "serve and protect." How do you protect when you engage in a high-speed chase and nearly kill the rider? But when it comes down to it, I know that they aren't trying to serve or protect. They just don't like when their pride is hurt, and the thought of someone with a faster vehicle getting away from them hurts their pride.

I have no problem with the cops chasing these riders. they treat the public road like their personal race track. Eventually they will mess up and hopefully it's only them that's hurt. unfortunately they're not the only ones on the road. I've seen enough pictures of motorcycles that have gone halfway through a cars side door. These are the people that shouldn't be allowed on a motorcycle.

I've seen one super bike pull over for a cop. It was a 20 MPH zone on an island with only 2 bridges to get off. I think he knew he would just get cut off at the bridge so he just pulled over and ate the ticket. But it was more than just speeding, the zone is normally 35, it's 20 during the Summer because of fledgling sea birds. So he got more than just a speeding ticket.

Back when I was still young and stupid, going home from work at 1 a.m. I decided to take the long way and flew down a city street (No one was on it since everything was closed) doing 120 in a 45. A car came flying up behind me and of course the blue and reds came on after. I stopped. He let me off with a warning because I didn't run and I wasn't intoxicated. Coolest guy ever, though I did get a nice lecture from him.
