Good job, spring's look great. You can actually remove them one at a time just on the side stand, or do both together using a small scissor jack on top of the rear wheel (on a paddock stand). I had to repaint mine as the preload adjusters were badly corroded.

Did that black spring change the spring rate or was it just a cosmetic change?

I think it does the opposite. You can't change the gold oil retainers and the front forks are still gold. It just looks wrong in my opinion.
