Really enjoyed the vid! If all you had was the 450L, would you make the trip on that, or too much highway? I've been building up my 2019 450L, similar mods as yours, highway gearing. Thinking about making a run down there, looked like fun. I downsized from that Africa T. It would have been nice on the highway, but my back doesn't handle picking it up in the sand like the ol' days. The 450L is just about ready. Flywheel & higher pwr stator are ready to go in next.. Love this bike. I'm just on the other side of death valley from you. Thanks for the great vids & good luck.. -Phil On The Hill

Its possible, it just takes longer. Its slower to move around. I think the 450-500 DS are the ideal bikes. Pretty much go where you want down there on a DS. Lots of people ride them down there, camping and just hotels. I'm gonna get mine down there a bunch and do a cabo run but not till next year. Lots of people trailer to Tacate, park then ride across.

So fun to see all the places I went last Christmas. I did 2500 miles in 6 days, would have kept going if I didn't have to get back to work 😉

Great video! I'll be going down to the La Paz and back. I dont really like riding at night in Baja however...for a few reasons. Anway, I love it and will motocamp also. It's tiring though isn't it. Some days seem harder than others you know? Great stuff dude. Maybe I'll run into you sometime. I teach Paragliding in SoCal and also in Baja ..love it down there.

Thanks for the great content! I’m adding a 3rd bike to the stable and would love some feedback. I already have a Harley Road Glide for Touring and a Panigale for…well…because everyone should own an ICBM lol Now though, I want an adventure bike that will take me off pavement when I want and be able to explore those dirt, gravel, and fire roads like you started with the GSA. But like you I realize the challenges with a heavy bike especially as things get more challenging with terrain. I’m still considering a GSA to start because this would be something new to ride off pavement. I’ve been riding for 34 years so I’m not too concerned with technicalities, but rather if the GSA is the right tool. I live in the PNW so BDR runs would be of interest, but that would be the most extreme I’d do. Your channel has been great to find as it seems your style of adventure riding matches what I envision. You indicated in 2022 I believe, that you were selling the KTM 790 due to reliability concerns and customer service. I see you still have it. Has your ownership perspective changed on that? Are you still looking for a different touring adventure bike? Appreciate the read and any response in advance.

Thanks, I appreciate it a bunch. I sold the Ktm 790, it’s a good bike and very capable, it’s just not as reliable as a Japanese offering in my opinion after owning it. I’d recommend a T700 if you want some off-road with a twin or a dualsport that will allow you to go a lot of places with less risk and effort. Middle weight or dualsport, and with the bigger bikes you have a small dirtbike would fit nice.

I like your dash set up. Mine is older and bigger. I’d like to downsize it like yours. 👍🏻👍🏻

You need to bring octane additive with you next time. I have two Roto Pax tanks on my 690 too.

@@mechcavandy986 I able to get high octane down there like 80% of the time. so I've never felt like i needed octane booster
