This second part video show us some tips on how to upholster a motorcycle seat in leather.
A 'flat felled seam' was used to join the two main grey and black leather panels. 'Black polyester thread' for the stitches.
I have used 'automotive leather' which has a 'urethane thin film of sealer' on top as a protector against water and sunrays.
As you can see, an important tip to handle leather is take into account the 'stretchy side' of this material, otherwise, it would be very difficult to deal with.
I hope you find it useful!

Awesome video, but I think I will leave this particular project to a pro like you! I can sew, but I don't have access to that kind of machine, and if I did, I am 99.9 % sure I would end up attached to the product..... Every time you hit the pedal I flinched, LOL. Nice work.

I've watched part 1 and part 2 of this video about 12 times and was wondering if you could make a video or show how to make a paper template for a seat from scratch. Is there angles or curves that you should look to use techniques or avoid certain seams?? Thanks. I'm learning alot from watching and can't wait to apply!!

How to create a pattern from a custom made motorcycle seat foam?
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 6 жыл бұрын
The first step would be to sketch the design on the surface of the seat. The next step would be to create the patterns by following the marked lines. To get the templates I would recommend the use of a cheap stretchy side vinyl. After having ready the patterns with real measures (sewing notches included) the last step would be the adding of seam allowance which it could be 1 cm or 1/2"of an inch.

How do you emboss the logo? You show a resin die but how do you get it into the leather or vinyl? Thanks in advance. You are truly a master craftsman. - Dave in Detroit
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 8 жыл бұрын
The 'embossing' is done by pressing the die against the leather material with a small heaten plate press. I will have a course in a near future. Thanks for watching the videos!
