Such a beautiful country and even better to experience it on a bike. I’m super jealous!

It really is and we are so fortunate to live here! The snow has almost been cleared on the passes so we are looking forwards to getting back in the alpine passes and making some more videos. All the best 😎🙌🏻

Schweiz is such a beautiful country. I went there in 1978 and 1983 on my motorcycle with my girlfriend as passenger on our way to France and Italy. We were camping. I can recommend that. At a small kiosk in Basel we bought a pack of chewing gum to exchange a 50 franc note. By a mistake we got exchange for a 500 frank note. We received the biggest smile in the world, when we returned the money. One day we couldn't find a camping site and we asked permission to put up our tent in a garden. The nice people allowed us to do so. I just got a motorcycle again and am planning to go camping in Schweiz 41 years later.

Hi, Yeah it really is! We never get tired of riding all the passes, it really is a beautiful country. That's so cool that you did that trip! i wonder in 1983 how the glaciers looked as they have retreated a lot since then, what bike did you have? It's crazy that the 500 franc note exists and that's good of you to return it! They must have been very happy indeed. Sounds like you had an unforgettable trip! Congratulations on the getting a motorcycle again and we wish you many good rides to come! Sean and Emily 😎👍

Hi Martin, yeah it's a special place indeed! We can understand why you've been there so much -it never gets old seeing the spectacular landscapes! It must have been great to ride this one in 1977! Was the glacier a lot further down the valley then? Here's a more recent video we made last year with some aerial views you might enjoy. So glad you enjoyed it! Yes it really is! It’s a very special ride indeed -we had lots of fun and surprisingly it handles better than I thought it would. Some great rides in California! I once rode a friends GS down the coast road and got a speeding ticket near Santa Cruz 😁.

That was a superb film, brought back many memories from yesteryear for me. You two know how to travel, the R18 looked like fun especially on the more gentle curves of the passes! Ride safe!

Good vid looks awesome Swiss alps. I’m an R18 Transcontinental owner and had an awesome first big tour of the Pecos de Europa Spain 🇪🇸 this year, I’ve been amazed how she handles twisty mountain roads. But R18 dose get a lot of attention of people, probably due there isn’t many about and she is a stunning bike. May go to the alps next year and maybe Italy still planning thoe.

Hi and thanks very much for your feedback! The R18 really eats up the miles and I too was surprised how well it performs in the twisty sections. It's so much fun blasting out the corner with limitless torque. We have never had so many people come look at the bike -and for good reason it is stunning! We will be uploading some more Videos this week of our latest tour around the Swiss alps (on our Air cooled Gs) showcasing some of Switzerland's other mountain passes. Hope to hear from you again =)

Great video. I’m considering buying an R18 Transcontinental. How is the maneuverability with two up in the small towns?
@SeanandEmily2 ай бұрын
It's doable lol but takes a lot of getting used to (guessing that's the same with every bike of this style) . This Bike is a lot of fun and handles surprisingly well in the sweeping bends - a bit stressful in the super tight hairpins though 😁
@stevemyers98452 ай бұрын
I was in Lucerne in 1985. What a beautiful city. I’m test riding a 2022 R18 Transcontinental tomorrow 😊. I’m glad I found your channel. Thank you.
@SeanandEmily2 ай бұрын
Yeah that’s a beautiful city -one of our favourites 😊. I hope your test ride goes well, a good thing about the R18 is it’s very low and the boxer keeps the weight low too so although it can be heavy to manoeuvre it is not so bad to keep upright when stopped. Welcome to the channel and we look forwards to hearing from you again 😎👍🏻

We are road tripping on the ZZR1400 part of the trip we will be heading Grossglockner, to Lake Como then up towards the Furka Pass etc 2nd week in July do you recommend any hotels around the Furka pass or my other thought is stay for 2 or 3 nights Grindelwald and do all the passes at leisure, never been to Switzerland so what's your thoughts, thanks Paul
@SeanandEmily5 ай бұрын
Hi Paul, Sounds like a great trip! if you are looking for a base for the main passes i would suggest Andermatt. It's right in the middle of them and is also a nice town (ski village in the winter). Grindelwald is magnificent as it's surrounded by gigantic mountains but for riding it's only scenic and it's an hour away form the foot of the mountains. Grindalwald would be ideal if you want a day off teh bike though. (see our winter Switzerland vlog) With Andermat you are next to the Oberalppass, The Furka, the Gotthard, grimsel and susten. You can easily do the Furka, Grimsel, Susten pass loop in a day. (note this wont be the full Furka but the most twisty part although nothing to stop you doubling back on yourself) The Klausen is also one not to miss, so perhaps do this another day and ride it back the same way if you are coming up form como you could take the San Bernardino pass and ride the Gotthard another day (your choice) Also note that the Gothard has a new pass section and the old pass (with the hairpins) Luzern is probably the most beautiful city in Switzerland although busy in the summer. Thun is also nice and is a bit smaller. Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen the most spectacular. As for hotels just check hotel. com, i often use a another app that gives 50% off but i checked and there isn't really anything in that area on your dates. Finally, the Furka pass is not actually open at the moment but should be this weekend. be sure to check this website to check on the status of the passes (sometimes they can be closed for events but not often) alpen-paesse.ch/en/ Hope that's helpful =)
@@SeanandEmily this is super helpful thank you for taking the time, I will have a look at my route plan tomorrow and see how some of your suggestions can be worked in 👍

the only bad thing about the r18 is the protruding engine on both sides.
@SeanandEmily2 ай бұрын
They do hit the shins a bit but then the whole concept is built around this huge boxer engine which delivers fantastic amounts of torque and huge smiles 😉👍

what a quality video team, subsribed. I test rode one last night, not sure yet. Sean what was the average economy on that trip man?
@SeanandEmily Жыл бұрын
Hi Bill, thanks so much for the encouraging feedback! It was our fist time out on the R18 and also the first time on a cruiser so it did take some getting used to. That said it was lots of fun! I'm not sure what the economy was to be honest (i think it was thirsty) although thinking about it i probably wasn't riding it in an economic manner =)
