I travel on my GSA a lot, also on Autobahn. Leave the highway for 5 minutes and your petrol is a lot cheaper with a little effort. The petrol costs add up a lot during a motorcycle holiday.

You're spot on there! We filled up a couple of times just off the highway and it's a big difference -the coffee is better too =) Usually almost half our trip budget is fuel costs alone. Cheers Sean and Emily

Great to see your travel experience, not nice riding for hours in rain, happened to me North coast of Spain, 6 hours torrential rain, 2 up and fully loaded, bike was brilliant, we were soaked to the skin even through wet gear, it was an experience though and didn't ruin a fantastic tour. I look forward to viewing more of your videos and look forward to the one from my homeland of N. Ireland/Ireland :)

Hi Tim and welcome to the channel! 😊 Yeah the weather is unavoidable sometimes but for some reason when on tour it just is what it is 😁. We were really impressed with the waterproofs as we were actually dry inside at the end of each day! Gloves were not through but didn’t expect them to be - might try the over gloves next time 🤔. Glad you had a great tour! 😎🙌🏻 There’s a few playlists for you to get through but we hope you enjoy them 😊 Great to hear from you and we had a fantastic time on our recent tour of Ireland/N.Ireland -episodes on the way 👍🏻

@@SeanandEmily Thanks for the info, I will certainly watch your other playlists in future, and really look forward to the Ireland one, as I am sure I have been on some of the roads :) out of interest what action camera are you using and also for the audio on board, have you both recorders with Lav mics in helmets which you sync up in your software of choice? does Emily arm not get sore after a while?

We try to avoi.d the Hamburg ring road at all costs! We rode to Hirtshals from Switzerland through Heidelberg and Hanover. On the way back we heading towards the mouth of the Elbe which we crossed on a ferry. So happy not to return by Hamburg.

Hi, Yeah wasn't our favourite part of the tour that's for sure lol. We were planning to take the motor train from Weil am Rhein to Hamburg however it was coming out at a ridiculous price. On the way back we will be heading to the Helsinki crossing and riding through the Baltics. Thanks for watching and we appreciate your comment. Hope to hear from you again, all the best Sean and Emily

@@SeanandEmily We went up from the Netherlands (where we luve) untill Trondheim back in 2006. But we were not ready for Norway yet. We didn't have the right all season suits and the weather was often bad. But still... we realy liked the scenary! We think about going back in 2025 and than all the way up! I look forward to see your next episodes.

Such a long ride. I appreciate your long tour in the rain. Definitely not comfortable being wet, but the video still shows an adventure in a beautiful old town. That restaurant looks yummy and I'm glad your motorcycle is so reliable there's no concern for being stuck somewhere.

@SeanandEmily Жыл бұрын
Hi Kevin, yeah it was a long slog for sure but well worth it to save the time for the more interesting parts of the journey. The old town was super cool to see and a highlight for sure, after that day of riding in that weather the restaurant was the best thing ever!!! The food was so tasty and just what we needed =) We have built up a lot of trust in that bike and we totally agree that reliability is a major factor. We are looking forwards to sharing this journey. Cheers Sean and Emily

Hi thanks for your comment. As this was just a motorway ride to the ferry there wasn't much road content to show. From here on there will be plenty! =)

Great stuff guys! Feel for you both in the persistant rain, but we've all been there and as long as your kit keeps you dry then you can cope. That single sheet, one pillow business is weird, I'd have been out of there at 5am!! creepy (just before lockdown, we "slept" in a hotel near Heathrow airport, the room was that grubby and old (very late arrival due to work) we slept fully clothed on top of the bed and never showered. Yuk. Looking forward to this, safe travels.

Hi David, thanks very much and glad you enjoyed the first couple of days of this tour. Yeah some days you just have to suck it up and ride no matter the weather! But i must say our waterproofs did a great job and heated vests kept us warm so all good in the end. It's funny sometimes what hotels do, we thought those gigantic square pillows were the worse but 1 pillow wins hands down lol. That doesn't sound fun! We've no problem with anything really but the rooms should at least be clean! We are really looking forwards to making this series and glad you have you along with us. All the best Sean and Emily

Hi Andrew, thanks for following and we hope this series helps with your planning. Locations are usually included in the descriptions if you need them and we have a full route map on our website too. We set off in the middle of August and returned Mid September. I think a few weeks earlier might have been better to catch more of the summer but it's a play off between the warmer weather and how busy places get.

Was it only your hands that got wet, or was it everywhere? In other words, did your jackets and riding pants keep you mostly dry? If not, why not?Thanks!
@SeanandEmily
@SeanandEmily Жыл бұрын
Hi David, It was really only our hands that got wet (especially Emily's for some reason). The Jacket and pants worked really well and did indeed keep our bodies dry. Our gloves are like a 'one for all' so in the extremities of prolonged heavy rain they tend to first soak up the water in the leather and eventually after some hours start to let water through. I was looking at waterproof over gloves before we left for the trip but decided they took up too much room, perhaps they might be good at least for Emily who has less protection than me (i also think the heated grips help a lot to keep my gloves dry). We were also very impressed by our boots (they are from BMW and are a few years old now) i wax them regularly and they did a great job of keeping our feet dry (although again i think they soaked in a lot of water) but our feet did start getting cold towards the end of the day -looking at getting 'Sealskinz' socks as they are used by the army to keep feet dry and warm. Thanks ever so much David for your continued support and we are glad to have you along for the journey. Kind regards Sean and Emily

Looking forward to this trip. Nordkapp is a bucket list item for sure. How long is this trip expected to take? Also curious, what work do you both do that allows you to do these long trips so regularly? Feels like the spain/portugal trip was just the other day.

We’re a bit concerned that you’re heading into Scandinavia without gear that keeps you completely dry, especially your hands. You’ll need a bit of luck with the weather. Somehow you guys don’t appear quite so oriented as normal and maybe showing a less polished side to touring isn’t such a bad thing. We look forward to watching the next one 😊. Best wishes as always 👍

Hi, in fairness the waterproofs worked great -we didn't get wet on the inside, but after 9 hours of continues rain even the best gloves will get wet -especially in stand still traffic. The rider's hands are actually guarded from the elements quite well with the shields and heated grips =) Motorway riding in the pouring rain isn't the best of fun but with a ferry to catch it's sometimes a necessary evil -still at the beginning of a trip it's all still exciting getting to Norway =). Thanks for your continued support and we are sure you will love the rides to come . Cheers Sean and Emily

I noticed that you use the clutch. Why not use the quick shifter?
@SeanandEmily
@SeanandEmily Жыл бұрын
Hi James, Personally i find the quick shifter works best (smoothest) when riding 'sportily' with higher rev range gear changes. For short shifting at lower revs when fast acceleration isn't required i find the clutch gives a smoother gear change.
