I have moto camped many times and I really enjoy it. I don't bring all the things you do, I bring a small tent, a good sleeping bag, a small stove , MRE meals, coffee,and a bottle of bourbon for my night cap. I live minimally for camping, no frills at all. I enjoy nature and getting away from all the baggage of civilization.
@stevebutler71564 жыл бұрын
Lee Coffman Must admit on different times of the year I bring more or less depending on the weather. Over here it can be cracking the flags one minute and the next freezing your bits off and chucking it down. That’s the UK 🇬🇧 unpredictable with everything 👍

Hi Steve, nice Video, I have the same camping chair, and it's brilliant, but like you I just about fell out as one leg dug in on grass, so I purchase four cheap tennis balls, puncture a very small hole in each one, and force over the end of each leg, the balls will fit into the same zip bag as the seat... I saw this idea on another camping video, and works a treat...........Merry Christmas and a very Happy new years.

Leave no trace ! Most important thing to remember. Some people light fires on grass and leave big scorch marks . Same people leave litter. Just pisses of all the ‘ good people’. Anyway, a man after my own heart. Bit of a loner who likes to get away from everything on his own, on his bike. Absolutely spot on. I have the helinox chair so you pissed me off telling me what you paid for your copy ! ;-)) I wild camp on my GS.Very similar set up really. Love Wayfarer meals. You can put your litter in empty packet too. Can I recommend their ‘ beans & bacon ‘. I take a small baguette and dip it in the beans and bacon as I eat.......you can crack an egg in as you cook it ( still in packet with top cut across ) works well. Have a go with red light on head torch. Takes a bit of getting used to but you’ll be amazed how well your eyes adjust over about 30 minutes and totally stealthy outside. All the best pal .
@stevebutler71566 жыл бұрын
Hi and thanks for watching and commenting. some great tips there :) yes I do like to promote leave no trace, and keep everything as you find it. I have another chair now even better and cheaper than the Helinox ;) OEX and it does not sink in LOL... Im not really a loner just like getting off on my own for the piece and quiet. Gone off the wayfarers a bit and started cooking some proper grub on trips lot better and cheaper... REd light will give it a go. ATB Steve

@stevebutler71563 жыл бұрын
Hi Geoff thanks for commenting, on that particular one what I hadn’t shown was being kind of followed by some youths in a corsa. So where I originally planned I had to take a detour and found this spot by accident. Plus conscious it was somebody’s land but wasn’t 100% sure. Didn’t want the house across the river to know I was there. Like the stealthy aspect of things. Yes at night sometimes you just have to switch off. Those sounds can be amplified usually a nosey fox or deer moving about Or????? 🤔😃👍

@stevebutler71567 жыл бұрын
kzbin.info/www/bejne/gXPYaKNpaNGfr7M, hope this helps. Remember though every body sleeps differently. Myself I sleep very warm so even though he says comfort 8 degrees I have slept in this in minus temps. I wear a rab down jacket when its cold because I use it in the mornings. or when you get up in the night you still have warmth around your core. My feet always get treated to heat holder socks and I always tuck all my clothes in and wear a hat. I find I sleep with this open in summer months with just a t shirt and boxers. Thanks for watching and all the best for your future adventures Steve :)

Its Legal to wild camp in Scotland, but not everywhere. I have wild camped many times in Galloway and never had a problem. obviously i carefully check out my spot. If you notice in the video i was concious of the house in the distance. If you can see windows they can possibly see you. Think before a fire is lit, it can be seen for miles, and the smoke it gives off. Its not so much legal people finding me, its any curious scumbags that might be out for trouble !!! correct, but not around Loch Lomond.
@theponkster7 жыл бұрын
There are a number of areas that wild camping is now prohibited which are mainly where the right has been abused - usually around the lochs such as Lomond, Tay and Rannoch , also the right to roam and the right of wild camping does not cover using a vehicle - I think if you access the land off road on/in a vehicle with out the land owners permision technically you forfeit your rights of wild camping.

Another good video Steve. I like that tuna stove, how long does it burn before it runs out of oil? Been thinking about buying one of those chairs, they look good. Atb Glenn.
@stevebutler71567 жыл бұрын
Too be honest i never really timed it but i bet it was good for a half hour. Definately reccomend the chair.. digs a bit in soft ground tho did you catch the bit where i nearly fell over LOL. thanks for tuning in to both vids ATB Steve

Burns for about 1/2 hour, the chair was great and well worth the money. no point going for expensive one. Thanks for tuning into both vids ATB Steve
Don't know if you have seen them yet, but I have just bought a UCO BBQ grill and fire pit. Was really sceptical about it but used it a few weekends ago on long weekend tour around France, Belgium and Germany on my BMW GSA. Folds flat and does the job - would fit nicely into your kit as it does steaks really well!!!! Im based in Leeds, if you are passing and fancy a look / try, let me know and I'll get the kettle on ucogear.com/flatpack-grill.html And no, I don't work for them or have any association with them, it's just a cracking bit of kit 😄

Looks like a great bit of kit thanks for the info. I must admit i am trying to reduce weight and gear that i take t the minute. possible future purchase tho.

Sorry but the ONLY tents to buy are Kyham tents, no spending an eternity threading poles

Hi sorry to be a bit of a killjoy but is it not illegal to carry a knife of that size? By the way great videos would really love to do this one day
@stevebutler71566 жыл бұрын
jon d Hi depends what you’re doing in my opinion obviously. Trust me if you do do it a little sense of security helps you sleep better on your own at nights.
@jason93346 жыл бұрын
It's not illegal to carry if for reasons say camping as it can be justified. To carry it down town on a night out is illegal lol, people miss using knives for harmful reasons have made it much more difficult for people who like the outdoors like camping, bush crafting etc to carry them.
