For an “irrelevant” review, I found this video to be exactly spot on (and timely: I’m about to head off, on an ADV bike, to travel to my favorite two-day track school). I copied your 2019 video about touring on a V4S, riding one on a 3,600 mile journey, and had an absolute blast. I’ve had extensive experience with many variants of both the S1000rr and 1299/V4 bikes, on and off track, and found your assessment of their respective characteristics to be spot on. I’m fortunate to live near some wonderful mountain roads, which make the Ducati and BMW sport bikes really come alive. Thanks for the beautifully filmed and very inspirational video! The trouble is, almost all riders buy such accomplished superbikes without themselves having the ability to ride them properly. As a former road & track racer, my advice is to learn your way up to such bikes & then they're worth your hard earned cash. Stick with older & cheaper bikes until you become a fully accomplished rider, it'll pay you dividends in many ways...plus you'll not frighten the living daylights out of yourself in taking on more than you can handle...never mind possible crashes or worse.

The biggest take away after riding the last gen Aprilia Factory was how much of a waste such performance would be tooling around on the street. I thought it was that good! I thought the performance was a waste on the bikes of the mid 2000s but today's machines are on a whole different level! I'd be pretty frustrated if I had to ride one of these on the street! It's like taking a Ferrari to a go kart track. These bikes are begging to be ridden at the limit!

I think superbike buying decisions today should be based on which one you really really want, rather than which one is "the best". Superbikes are a complete pain in the ass for 100% of the time except when you're going obscenely fast on them, at which point it really doesn't matter much which one you're on. They're all bloody mental and you'd be too occupied with the rush of riding them to have a chance of regretting buying one over the other.

I’ve got a 2020 Aprilia RSV4 factory, added 11k miles in the last 11 months with not a single mechanical or electronic issue. Nothing sounds like a V4 engine! 6’4’’ so I’m nice and tucked in(little cramped). She growls, grunts and shakes, all to the full enjoyment of its riders. Aggressive geometry, though comfortable even at my height. I just bought a 2022 BMW S1000RR after weighing out both the M1000RR and the V4 SP2. The M1000RR at that price point without electronic suspension?! STILL needs a tune?! Makes no sense. 6-10K in additional accessories needed to make it a super track bike, I couldn’t make sense of it. 45K+ in other words. And it doesn’t even break 220HP! HP is actually equal to the S1000RR. Had they not added the Brembos to the M, that price point would’ve been even more ridiculous! The V4 SP2 just isn’t available anywhere. What listings you find start at 45k base price. I couldn’t reason with that investment over a 22k V4S or even a 38k V4R. Plus it’s hot as hell in Houston, so Ducati’s are already non-groin friendly. Add the dry clutch wear and servicing requirement, and it makes for a high $$$ investment up front, and for the long haul with servicing costs. Thus, I bought a brand new 2022 S1000RR for 19k with full Akro. Adding 3k forged wheels and doing a 1k Brentune Stage 2. Nothing else needed. 4K added to 19k initial investment, and I’ll have a faster bike than the base/fully stock M1000RR, for 15k less!

After a break from riding of around 25 years I decided to ease myself back into it, but I saw the SP2 and fell in love with it, so I got it. It's surprisingly easy to ride, easy to turn and gorgeous to look at (although they were a bit tight with the amount of carbon for the money). The sound is fantastic even with the stock exhaust. It was always a dream to own a Ducati from the moment the 916 came out and when I first saw a Foggy replica in Paul Smart's showroom. I will be taking it to the track in due course as there's no way to really explore the bike on the road - even in Street mode it's ridiculously quick. They don't make it easy to drop the levers down to a better place for ergonomics as they put a pin in there, maybe to make it easier to consistently put it together in the factory or (and) to prevent the lever from slipping? Annoying, but that's pretty much my only criticism so far.

@@thedragonofechigo7878 It’s made me wonder why I went so long without a bike in my life. Honestly, it was astonishingly easy to ride. Litre bikes when I was young were much harder to ride if I remember correctly, despite having far less power. Having said that, opening the throttle wide open for a couple of seconds bends my mind. I’m currently prepping it to go on track with it this year. It’s far too quick for the road! 🙈😂

A review i have been waiting for just a shame no onboards of the Duc and RSV. In regards to the suspension setup on the bikes i guess the Duc and RSV4 were running fully active? Surely for keeping everything uniform it would have been better to switch them to manual to dial them in a bit or at least run their manual base settings. Would be in keeping with the manual suspenders on the RR.

The "bling" around his neck at 20:57 had me literally laughing out loud. I had a Tuono V4 until recently and could never get enough of that exhaust note. I'm sure I'll have another in the future!! I test rode the Ducati but just couldn't get over how much heat it threw on the lower body. No way I could ride it anywhere other than the track.

Excellent quality video folks! Obviously there has been a big push towards the likes of 44 Teeth in recent years but you when you see a professional production that's clearly had some decent money thrown at it (and talent at behind the scenes), there's no comparison really. And I say that as a small time You Tuber lol. Anyway it's gotta be the Duke for me!
