I think these middle weight models are actually the ideal bikes. I have a current model Z1000 and it's actually too powerful. I can never use full throttle in first and even second gears because it wheelies. A Z800 might be more fun because you can use all of its power all the time. Then again, I do love having more power than I need. One just needs to be more careful that's all.
@neevesybikes12 жыл бұрын
The Brutale is too powerful and expensive for this test, matey. All these bikes have almost the same power and cost around the same, except for the Brutale 675. Thanks for watching. Neevesy. MCN.

I really would have liked to see how the new 2013 Yamaha FZ8 faired. No pun intended. I have a 2011, and I can atest the suspension holds this bike back the most. The weight at 475lbs wet is also a cavet. I test rode a 2012 Street Triple R, and LOVED it. 400lbs, fully adjustable suspension, that is on par with a super sport. yeah, a 2013 street triple R is in the works.

Thanks but at this time Honda is the only one making a Naked 600... every other brand has the 800, 750, 675, so if we think about that the Hornet is alone, and its not on it's own category alone, it should be included in this one despite not beeing middlewight.. But I get your point..

The Mv augusta looks and sounds awesome.Very lightweight with great handling and brembo brakes.Remember to put the bike in sport mode lads, throttle response and performance is fantastic.More hard core streetbike than the other 3 bikes.Yes the STR is a good all rounder for novices to exp riders, but stood next to the MV no contest.

i guess in america people dont know how to ride twisting roads so power is all you need. But power isn't everything in europe. Your bike is so much heavier than these bikes and MCN Michael Neeves even said that under 160 kph the new street triple is better and more fun to ride than the heavier and more powerful speed triple. Handling is why i love riding, you love sheer power more as you only go in a straight line, so good for you. Enjoy riding, and ride safe my friend.

I've got to wonder if the MV was ridden and tuned with more serious sport-riding intent, and by more serious warm-weather riders, to where it would more than make up for the small throttle inputs these guys were using around ice, or even offer newer and better characteristics when kept in a hyper-RPM range? I am very wary of traditional motorcyclists calling things 'bad' after finding unique motorcycle set-ups that work very, very well, but that are berated by those not used to them.

Thats exactly my point. If the normal street triple wins the comparison which bike can compare with the Street Triple R. There is a non Euro comparison here in youtube that compared the Ducati SF848 and they said the Triumph STR is a better bike. I've ridden these two bikes back to back and I agree with them.

Time will tell if Neevesy will compare both bikes. Ride both bikes yourself and see which one is better, which I did and to be honest with you I like the Triumph STR better. So far these reviews are spot on which I usually take it for a grain of salt. I am still undecided which one I want in my garage but so far the STR is winning me over.

The Ducati has 60 vs 44 lb/ft of torque. That's hard to overcome from my POV. That said, change those Dame Edna headlights and put the brembo and the ohlins from the Triumph 675R on the triple and suddenly I'm more interested. With all the love that Neevesy dotes over the Duc in other videos, I'd like to have him say that the Street Triple is the better bike. Maybe he left it out so he wouldn't have to.

Would have loved to see the Ducati Monsters (696/795s), the BMW F800R and the KTM Duke 690 in the comparison. In fact, the Triple is definitely one of my favorites- along with the Monster and the single mill Duke and want to see how they compare with each other. Everyone has commented on the scratchy fueling of MVs in lower revs so I dont doubt that. And the Z800 is definitely the most competitive Japanese naked of them all- the others are too bland, in styling or performance.

That would be the perfect all-around bike! I didn´t go for the Z1000SX, because it was just plain scary for me, being a beginner, but my Z750R is definitely missing touring capabilities in terms of luggage and maybe an adjustable screen.. With that being said, for my taste the Z750 and Z800 are too heavy for throwing them around in the Alps, for example. Almist every Streety owner went for that one because it´s so much more nimble and effortless to turn compared to the Kawa Z´s...

Hi MCN, you're on the right way, but only the veredict is not enough. Please, get a in-built helmet microphone and while testing, try to show how the bike make you feel, the acceleration, the braking and put it in our perspective, not only words. Otherwise we would just google a text review. Like top gear or "chris harris on cars", you need to extract emotions from the riding and you could have a million views from your ride tests. Anyway, best of luck guys, and your team of riders seem great
