Neevsy, your complaint about lack of grunt making the bike feel sterile around town is completely correct. I felt it on mine as well. To other SFV4 owners I suggest getting the Termignoni UpMap and installing the MTorque map for the stock exhaust. It really wakes the bike up in 3000 to 7000 rpm range in the lower gears. Even with the wheelie control on it will wheelie with just a weight shift or tug on the bars. Ducati limits the opening of the throttle bodies in gears 1-4. Also the exhaust valve closes between 4-7k rpm to limit noise affecting performance in that range as well. I’ve owned a few bonkers naked bikes (Streetfightered 91 GSX-R 750 with a 1340cc 180hp engine) and this really was the best mod if you’re looking for grunt in the midrange. Just sharing my only complaint and fix so far with the bike.

I did think about one but settled for a Monster 1200s instead. I just couldn’t see me using, wings, 14000 revs and 208 bhp on the road and all for an extra £5k. Definitely made the right choice with the Monster. Grunt everywhere, you don’t have to dance on the gears, it does over 50 mpg and the black on black colour scheme is great.

Excellent and honest review. Was really excited when this bike came out so booked a test . Really great suspension and strong motor when revved up but after 67 miles of mildly naughty riding fuel light came on , and I purposely brimmed the tank at the start of the test. It will wheelie 3rd gear with a bit of a tug on the bars and no clutch. Bought the Superduke 110-120 miles to a full tank and sharper handling at least when the front tyre is in contact with the road

If I could change something I would like to - have a fuel gauge (u get used to it), - the exhaust could be just a little less loud (u sometimes end up driving 50-54 km/h in town -> exhaust valve closed) and - take away the power limitations from Ducati (in the lower gears). ...at the end you just fell in love with this bike and it doesnt matter if there are bikes which are "better", the SF is just beautiful :-)

the coming 2021 model of the SF V4 is announced with more torque available in lower revs region, near 9000. This could behave more similar to the characterics of the Tuono. But still having more headroom as the Tuono (11,5k) up to 13k revs and that +200 horsepower class extension. Can't wait to test drive the 2021 model and compare it to the Tuono...

@@zblazjusz shure, wait a little for the new one 2021 model. If Tuono 1100 Factory SAS (same Öhlins like the Ducati) is for you: the SAS exists since the 2019 model. A specialist can program the ECU to give more torque in the 3,5 to 7k rev region, resulting in real more power and sound, too. The Tuono has Cruise Control, and with a windshield from Powerbronze bigger drivers can go highspeed with no stress! One has to try it to believe. And - you can save real money buying a used one instead of the Ducati, new. Saved money: You can buy a set of forged wheels RSV4, plug it 1:1 into the Tuono factory. I dont need more grunt down low (peak torque at 8000 rpm of 14500 is in Ducati v4 world low end torque😂🤣) . It does wheelie with the wheelie control if you push it and its soooo easy to drive. This is my first Ducati and i was hooked sin 2 the first time i tried it😁😁😁
@bschoenecker4 жыл бұрын
The bike isn’t sterile. Not in the sense of an S1000R for example. The lack of grunt is mostly due to the electronic torque limiting in gears 1 to 3. This does what it’s designed to do: make the bike go faster. This bike when said and done, is a Panigale V4 without a fairing. Would you say the Panigale V4 is sterile or weak? It’s power delivery designed for smooth speed, and less hooliganism. The tech on this bike is second to none and is designed to allow the rider to push the bike harder safely. With the Akra full system and up map this bike is an absolute beast, and still smooth enough to commute or ride around the city. Amazing bike, and I’ve been extremely happy with mine so far.
