Neevsy, your complaint about lack of grunt making the bike feel sterile around town is completely correct. I felt it on mine as well. To other SFV4 owners I suggest getting the Termignoni UpMap and installing the MTorque map for the stock exhaust. It really wakes the bike up in 3000 to 7000 rpm range in the lower gears. Even with the wheelie control on it will wheelie with just a weight shift or tug on the bars. Ducati limits the opening of the throttle bodies in gears 1-4. Also the exhaust valve closes between 4-7k rpm to limit noise affecting performance in that range as well. I’ve owned a few bonkers naked bikes (Streetfightered 91 GSX-R 750 with a 1340cc 180hp engine) and this really was the best mod if you’re looking for grunt in the midrange. Just sharing my only complaint and fix so far with the bike.

I have a Tuono, so I have no skin in this game. However my favorite quote "it doesn't have heated grips, it has the button, but you have to pay extra for that option, which is kind of mean" Neeves is awesome, that is all.

I did think about one but settled for a Monster 1200s instead. I just couldn’t see me using, wings, 14000 revs and 208 bhp on the road and all for an extra £5k. Definitely made the right choice with the Monster. Grunt everywhere, you don’t have to dance on the gears, it does over 50 mpg and the black on black colour scheme is great.

I think the review style is a novel idea and I enjoyed it! At this point I prefer an upright riding position. But the things stopping me from buying is the price $$$, a wind screen for people who have to work and did I say $$$ price. Oh and I had more fun as a kid “hot rodding” my old KZ750 and riding it than any of these new bikes provide.

Excellent and honest review. Was really excited when this bike came out so booked a test . Really great suspension and strong motor when revved up but after 67 miles of mildly naughty riding fuel light came on , and I purposely brimmed the tank at the start of the test. It will wheelie 3rd gear with a bit of a tug on the bars and no clutch. Bought the Superduke 110-120 miles to a full tank and sharper handling at least when the front tyre is in contact with the road

I enjoyed your review and agree with these points as I own a SF V4S. I am really happy with the bike. If I could change something I would like to - have a fuel gauge (u get used to it), - the exhaust could be just a little less loud (u sometimes end up driving 50-54 km/h in town -> exhaust valve closed) and - take away the power limitations from Ducati (in the lower gears). ...at the end you just fell in love with this bike and it doesnt matter if there are bikes which are "better", the SF is just beautiful :-)

Those wings work on my roads!!! 75-Express Lanes/Florida Turnpike/Sawgrass Expressway!!! Just Sublime at 140-150-mph!! Then shifting into 6th dropping the RPM to 7k from 14k, the bike will just emitt the nastiest GROWL!!!! Also the Ducati Performance wind screen works exceptionally well for high speed riding!! Also helps divert wind from your phone/dash/your head. Bike is just insanely fun!!!!!

The bike isn’t sterile. Not in the sense of an S1000R for example. The lack of grunt is mostly due to the electronic torque limiting in gears 1 to 3. This does what it’s designed to do: make the bike go faster. This bike when said and done, is a Panigale V4 without a fairing. Would you say the Panigale V4 is sterile or weak? It’s power delivery designed for smooth speed, and less hooliganism. The tech on this bike is second to none and is designed to allow the rider to push the bike harder safely. With the Akra full system and up map this bike is an absolute beast, and still smooth enough to commute or ride around the city. Amazing bike, and I’ve been extremely happy with mine so far.

I suppose Ducati have the Monster if you want a torquey, naked street bike. I bought the Super Duke personally, because that donk really does it for me. You can be absolutely lazy, just leave it in third, and still make rapid progress. I think Aprilia also figured it out when they bumped the Tuono to 1078cc. Strange that Ducati chose to leave the Streetfighter so close to the Panigale in power delivery.

Sounds like this is the answer to what happens if Italians make a BMW motorbike. You get a very pretty and fast bike that you don’t ever quite love. I bought a 1098 Streetfighter on Nevesy’s recommendation and loved it till it made way for a BImota DB9S (another Nevesy recommendation)these bikes I use to longed for the weekend to go for a blast. It didn’t matter that I was not the best rider, it just made riding so special which is what Italian bikes do, that’s their purpose. People will tell you how much better every other bike is and claim stats but owning any Italian bike and looking back at it once then twice and three times when you park it and the happiness you get walking up to it to jump on it, no other bikes do that. Even if you get a 695 monster you get the same pleasure The other thing Ducati’s do is feel fast and that isn’t bhp that’s the massive torque they have everywhere even little Ducati’s feel fast for their displacement. I was pumped when they said this bike was coming but have no interest in it sounds like I’ll never love it. Sorry Ducati sounds like a missed opportunity, go back to what you use to do.

@@zblazjusz shure, wait a little for the new one 2021 model. If Tuono 1100 Factory SAS (same Öhlins like the Ducati) is for you: the SAS exists since the 2019 model. A specialist can program the ECU to give more torque in the 3,5 to 7k rev region, resulting in real more power and sound, too. The Tuono has Cruise Control, and with a windshield from Powerbronze bigger drivers can go highspeed with no stress! One has to try it to believe. And - you can save real money buying a used one instead of the Ducati, new. Saved money: You can buy a set of forged wheels RSV4, plug it 1:1 into the Tuono factory. @@TheJWC56RSA I took delivery of my Streetfighter just before Christmas and you were right I’m not disappointed, I haven’t been able to put too many miles on it (360 miles) mainly due to the weather. Just keep looking at it in the garage , the wife thinks I’m even more weird now . So thanks mate for putting me at ease when this video came out 🍻

When u say actual 186bhp I assume that's at the wheel so about 205bhp at the crank?

Great review you give enough info for people to make a decision . Considering upgrade to this from my mt09 but is only 3 things put me off . 1) petrol - in the mt09 i do max 110 miles to refill and gets annoying when travelling with fiends as they can do a lot more miles to full tank so not fancy continue on the same situation 2) fun and wheelies - my mt09 is so much fun bike to ride and this seen to be a super fast perfect bike and I rather have a fun bike 3) price - is a lot of money for this amazing bike so is hard to decide in such investment when you have a wheelie hooligan machine . Will book a test ride anyway for this and defo more importand want to try the V2 and see if provably will be a more fun bike .

A lot of Ducati shoppers, whether new or existing owners, don't do a lot of cross-shopping between brands; if they desire a Ducati , nothing else is going to do; it is the aspirational aspect of Ducati ownership. So I think this moves them outside the realm of competing with other makes, and instead competing against other models within their own range. So that leads to my question, what about this bike versus a Monster 1200R? Would that comparison be more realistic for potential owners? (as a long time Ducati owner, when I am shopping, I am either looking for a new bike, or looking for a new Ducati.)

It must be nice to have high end bikes just given to you to ride all the time. I have recently become a big Ducati fan.

Great synopsis, thanks! Do the wings snap off when the bike is dropped? Can holes be cut out of the wings to make cupholders?

Good Lord, the post-it notes all over the shop is exactly 'me at work'! If it's not 'posted' it's forgotten! 😄 So, really are you are saying it lacks the 'low end torque' or most the other rivals? Not that it has no torque, just not as useable as others? If it was your bike, which mods would you make or, which mods would this bike most benefit from? Great new reviewing style, love it! Thanks...

Nice bike and good review. And know what you mean I’m still stuck on the older vtwin ducatis. More soul and feel. They all care to much about power and fastest lap times these days and forget the fun factor. Great video

Top notch again, Neevesy! Is Roland Brown still around making tests/reviews? Always rated his stuff highly (maybe apart from his voice-overs when going video...).

It’s obviously a lovely bit of kit but I just can’t get on with the looks of the thing to be honest ... maybe if I rode one it would sway me away from my 2018 Tuono factory .. quality upload as always guys .. thanks 😊

I take it you're quoting fixed price servicing?? Mine (main dealer) charges by the hr which is annoying and it's certainly more expensive than your servicing costs.
@Shrekeo
@Shrekeo 4 жыл бұрын
I'm wondering the same as Ducati Aylesbury charged me £280 for a 7.5K service on my 899 Panigale and the 15K service price there is a eye watering £1200 - £1300, I will probably sell/trade the bike before 15K rather than pay what they ask.

@@Shrekeo Yep I’m with you there. My 959 7500 service was £260 at Leeds. It’s shouldn’t vary so much surely when you use a main dealer?
@Shrekeo

@@dazthephot I completely agree, I think if I want to keep the bike long term the 15k service will likely be where it loses it full dealer history and goes to a good independent I've used over the years with previous bikes including my old 748S.
